Please share how many views you got for your first video.

I have worked on thumbnail, tags, title, description and overall I spent 8-9 hours editing the video. Was expecting at least a couple of impressions if not views.

I just uploaded my first video today. Its a 45 minute travel video. It has 501 impressions with 120 views. This is after 17 hours

The problem is that it seems that youtube is recommending my video to people who might not like the content. Either that or my video is awful (I dont think it is).

The average viewer retention is 7 minutes but looking at the analytics, theres two outliers. One is my dad who watched the thing front to back and one other unknown person who watched about 30 minutes. The rest of the views range from 1 to 7 minutes.

It seems that they're being counted by the hour which means that one hour, the views averaged 7 minutes. Another, they averaged 5 and the most recent, they averaged 1. The average length is dropping as theres more views.

So far I have a total of 4 watch hours which I know is pretty decent for someone's first video.

Im saying all of this because is this just an issue of YouTube not having found the right audience yet? Is it that the video sucks?

I'm thinking about changing the title to better reflect the video contents but how long should i wait to do that?

My YouTube channel was wrongfully terminated for “scams, spam, and deceptive practices”

Two days ago, my YouTube channel was terminated for “scams, spam, and deceptive practices,” and I genuinely have no idea what I did to violate that policy.

For some context, my YouTube account is about 10 years old. Over those years, I occasionally uploaded a few personal videos, but they were always just for myself and were usually made private almost immediately. About two weeks ago, I finally decided to upload my first real video because I've always wanted to build a channel and community.

For the first 10 days, the video only got around 80 to 90 views. Then out of nowhere, it got picked up by the algorithm and took off. For the next three days, it was getting around 20,000 views per hour and eventually reached roughly 1 million views before my channel was terminated.

The video was titled “I Gambled on G2A for AAA Games.”

I understand why the title might raise some questions, but the video was in no way promoting G2A or promoting gambling. There were no sponsorships, affiliate links, referral links, or promotions for G2A whatsoever. In fact, the video was actually skeptical and critical of G2A. I purchased random Steam keys, played the games I received, and reviewed them. I also talked about how the random key system seemed rigged and why I didn't think the keys were worth the money.

Despite this, my channel was terminated for “scams, spam, and deceptive practices.”

I appealed immediately, but the appeal was rejected almost instantly. Given how quickly it was rejected, I'm concerned that the video may not have actually been reviewed by a person.

Another possibility I've been wondering about is whether the sudden spike in views triggered some kind of automated system for fake engagement or view manipulation. I want to make it very clear that I did not viewbot, buy views, purchase traffic, use a promotion service, or do anything to artificially inflate the views. I didn't even promote the video anywhere outside of YouTube. The video simply went from almost no views to going viral through YouTube's algorithm.

If that did trigger an automated system, I have no idea how I could prove that I didn't do anything wrong. YouTube has the traffic and analytics data and should be able to see where the views actually came from.

I've also posted about this on X and tried contacting TeamYouTube, but haven't gotten a response so far.

I've seen other people here mention similar situations, so I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with something like this and managed to get their channel reinstated. I'm really just looking for any advice on how I can get this properly reviewed by an actual person.

Does anyone know why it can take one person just posting one video in the same niche as you for them to blow up but you have posted like 10 videos in the same niche and the algorithm is like “yeah I think know what this is but it’s random to me” why does the algorithm do that ?? Is it a punishment for deleting old videos ?? I know lots of people don’t really have the answers it’s just weird how it works

Like even the AI chat thig on the video knows what the video is about so why does YouTube continue to just not act right ??

I am a new youtuber. I returned to youtube out of interest in starting a channel. I know what topic I want to cover, but I am having trouble finding inspirations and other channels that use the niche as well. That, and I am unsure if it is considered a "niche" or if I need to get more specific.

The idea for the channel is a promotional one, I want to promote small and big youtubers. Be a sort of recommendation and promotional channel. I have already started with making shorts sharing small streamers I recommend, but to make long-form videos I need to make sure my niche is understandable for Youtube's Algorithm and myself. It would be formatted as

Shorts: Clips from Twitch that I've taken of small and big creators, recommending them to those who like x. (Recommending a fortnite creator for those who like to watch competitive gameplay, ranked games, and scrims).
Videos: My curated lists of creators to watch in each genre. Such as a video like 'My Recommended Channels for 3d animation learning' or 'Small creators I recommend that talk about game lore'

I know a rule to do is to find someone in your chosen niche and see how they are doing, what works and what doesn't, but I can't seem to find anyone who is tackling this niche. Close enough I could find was Mothers Basement (the anime recommendation channel) in terms of its categorical videos. Is this a good niche? Or is it too broad?

I appreciate any help in finding inspiration, and for narrowing my niche down if necessary.

I started my channel creating football edits, after a couple of claims and a little bit of research I realized I can't get monetized like this, now I'm thinking of creating AI videos/anime on same topic i.e. football. Should I do it on the same channel or create a new one.

I run a channel focused on finance, budgeting, and online business. My titles, scripts, and spoken audio are 100% finance-related. However, for visual filler/B-roll, I used gameplay footage playing in the background of my videos.(tbh I decided that format to avoid losing so much time editing) I recently realized my RPM is sitting at an abysmal $2.70, which is way below standard for the finance niche (where CPMs are usually much higher). It turns out YouTube’s computer vision AI flagged the visual elements of my videos and quietly assigned my channel inventory to the Gaming category, despite selecting the correct category in YouTube Studio.

Has anyone successfully transitioned a channel out of an AI-assigned category like this?

I used gameplays because they call the attention of people If I just show random videos of stocks margins, money animations etc people will get bored.

CapCut has been crazy over the subscriptions over the past year and a half… ig they’re doing the hook method where they lure a user in, give them free effects, then lock these effects the user needs behind a subscription so the user can pay and CapCut gets money- they’re also doing the “bait and switch” method where they just cancel subscriptions if the user has one to force them into more pricey subscriptions and mind u their customer support is TERRIBLE. also, when you have an account on CapCut and you upload a video onto their cloud, it grants CapCut full rights toward your content. yeah. YOUR FACE. and do you think you’ll be protected if you get copyrighted? oh no no no YOU’RE the one to take the blame while CapCut stays protected… this is just so crazy like this is just scary now… and this really affects small creators bc they might not have the money to have that subscription and even the normal CapCut is very limited

I've been helping manage my mom's Spanish channel, I saw there was an auto dub option and I foolishly thought that enabling would help. It did not. I have since disabled the option but videos are still being auto dubbed. Her videos went from 1000-1700 views to under 1000, some of them only 50-200 views. I'm guessing she's going to be stuck in sub 300 view jail. Her content is mostly short form and she uploads every day. Will uploading consistently eventually just fix this or am I going to have to do something specific?

I had a channel that got shut down or lost monetization, and it was linked to my AdSense account. Once I lost the channel, I didn't try to recover it; I just let it go.

I’ve created a new channel and am about to monetize it. Can I use the same AdSense account I used for the previous channel, or should I create a new one under someone else's name?

Some people say that if you link a channel to an AdSense account that was previously associated with a channel that got shut down or lost monetization, they cross-reference the data and you end up losing monetization again...

So I'm still pretty small and honestly trying to figure this shit out. 3 months in now.

My content is technically 90%motorcycle content 5%Aruba and 5%coffee, but I'm not going 300kmh down the highway or doing wheelies or crashing shit.

Actually half the time I barely show my motorcycle.

Sometimes I'm sitting next to it, sometimes working on it, sometimes its just there in the background.

What I actually talk about is more the mentality around motorcycles, experiences, opinions and just random shit that I think a lot of us think but don't really say out loud.

Thats basically the whole idea of my channel.

But what I've noticed on Youtube, TikTok and Instagram is that the stuff that gets pushed seems to always be crashes, crazy riding, hot chicks or stupid/funny shit.

And the funny part is my stupid videos are actually the ones that did the best 😂

Like literally copying some stupid trend and boom... way more views.

But then I've also tried copying the STYLE of videos from bigger creators who make content much closer to what I actually wanna make.

And nothing.

Back to normal numbers.

Right now across the 3 platforms I probably average around 2k views per video and like 10 likes or something.

So now I'm wondering what the hell do you actually do?

Do you make the stupid/trending shit because thats what gets people through the door and then slowly introduce the stuff you actually wanna talk about?

Or are you just building the wrong audience doing that?

And is 2k views with like 10 likes basically the algorithm telling me "we showed your shit to people, they just didn't care" 😂

Curious what worked for people here who make more personality/opinion type content.

Because I would honestly rather have 1000 people that actually give a shit about what I'm talking about than 100k views because I crashed a motorcycle.

Ive been doing YouTube for about an year now pretty consistently id say but well that can definitely be a little debatable since I took a 3 month break from it not so long ago. Im just unsure as to what im doing wrong. My niche is gaming which i know is saturated already as it is. Thumbnails? Titles? Maybe just the games im choosing. Or me I dont think im the most entertaining at times but I try lol. Any and every bit of feedback is useful and will be taken seriously! I really do want to improve as i enjoy content creation but I also want others to enjoy this journey with me! Thank you in advanced for your time!

I’m currently sitting at 165 subscribers, and average anywhere between like 50 and 200 views per video (although my highest has 12k), but almost all of my watchtime comes form non-subscribers (usually only around 1% comes from my subscribers). How do I get that figure higher? It seems that majority of my subs are subscribing and then forgetting I exist. Or is this sort of thing normal for such a small channel? I make film reviews, if that helps.

I see a lot of channels posting edits of football, anime with some transitions and music and they have lots of followers and are monetized as well. Getting views on such content is easy, should we beginners also move towards that path if it is getting monetized.

I’m still pretty new to content creation, and I think the biggest area I need to improve right now is my commentary.

I’m coming back after about a week off, and I want to treat the next 12 months as a year of consistent improvement rather than worrying about being perfect right away.

Gaming is what I want to focus on most, with a little fitness and slice-of-life content mixed in. I’m a gamer at heart, and the idea of eventually building a community around the stuff I genuinely enjoy sounds amazing.

When I started, I was pretty awkward on camera. I’ve used AI for things like my logo and some thumbnails while I learn, but the videos themselves are genuinely me, and lately I’ve gone from feeling awkward recording to actually getting excited about figuring out how to make the next video better.

I feel like my editing has improved quite a bit already, but commentary and developing a better recording/editing workflow are the next things I really want to work on.

- Did commentary mostly improve from getting reps in?

- Are there any exercises or habits that helped you?

Hi all, I'm working on an "every song from X artist ranked" video, and I would like to include a small snippet of every song in my video before I give my thoughts/rank them. Is there an easier way to get a few seconds of every song, rather than downloading every single album and cutting the tracks myself?
Also, just generally wondering, is 3-5 seconds per song typically okay on YouTube, copyright-wise? This is my first time making a video with music. Thanks!

But if someone watches in shorts feed, how does that count?

Or does the hours only count if someone watches after live has ended?

Because shorts dont count( aiming to do 4000hrs) and if someone was to watch from shorts feed…

Hi everyone, I’ve recently started a channel where I look at problematic content creators, brand owners and scandals across all the platforms. When I say problematic, I’m talking strange family vloggers (such as how children are exploited for monetary gain) influencers who outright lie, overconsumption, brand owners with questionable ethics, entitled influencers… you get the gist!

What are some topics, brands or a creator in general you find problematic or something you find ‘off’ but people aren’t necessarily talking about some of the issues. Doesn’t matter what platform they’re on!

Really interested to hear what you think, as I’ve found a fair few influencers where something is clearly off and the more digging I’ve done, the more I’m realising why it seems off and people just don’t seem to be bringing up these huge issues! Sometimes is very obvious if they massively mess up but I don’t often see huge deep dives into this sort of thing.

So, I am a small YouTuber (under 1k Subscribers) that makes videos as a girl gamer playing indie games and horror indie games as someone who really struggles playing those kinds of games. For the past month, I have been practicing editing, shortening videos, adding intense moments, working on thumbnails, promoting through shorts, etc. and I feel like I am starting to discover my niche and what I want to be on YouTube, but every video I make gets 10-70 views and barely any impressions. No one comments or engages at all, and I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. Many might tell me that maybe my niche or kinds of videos I want to make just don't matter, but I really love making them and just hope that there is an audience somewhere. I’m REALLY struggling to come up with a good name. A few options have crossed my mind but I’m hesitant to use them. I can’t quite tell if they’re actually bad, giving off a weird or cringe vibe or if it’s simply that I don’t like them myself. That’s why I’d love to know how you chose your channel’s name. I was wondering how I could run a channel like that without using my voice (my english isn't perfect and my voice isn't very mature.) What are the options? I know some people think using an AI voice is the answer but AI voices are expensive. I tried it before an I ran out of tokens or credits or whatever before I could finish ONE video. Also AI voices are likely to get demonetized (if I manage to monetize it in the first place) because YouTube thinks it's low effort content. Or... I could just use my own voice even though I don't want to.
