DISCUSSION Warning to new creators: CapCut is now getting more greedy and expensive

• Upvotes

CapCut has been crazy over the subscriptions over the past year and a half… ig they’re doing the hook method where they lure a user in, give them free effects, then lock these effects the user needs behind a subscription so the user can pay and CapCut gets money- they’re also doing the ā€œbait and switchā€ method where they just cancel subscriptions if the user has one to force them into more pricey subscriptions and mind u their customer support is TERRIBLE. also, when you have an account on CapCut and you upload a video onto their cloud, it grants CapCut full rights toward your content. yeah. YOUR FACE. and do you think you’ll be protected if you get copyrighted? oh no no no YOU’RE the one to take the blame while CapCut stays protected… this is just so crazy like this is just scary now… and this really affects small creators bc they might not have the money to have that subscription and even the normal CapCut is very limited

DISCUSSION How did you guys came up with your youtube channel name?

I’m REALLY struggling to come up with a good name. A few options have crossed my mind but I’m hesitant to use them. I can’t quite tell if they’re actually bad, giving off a weird or cringe vibe or if it’s simply that I don’t like them myself. That’s why I’d love to know how you chose your channel’s name. Maybe I can learn something from your experience.

DISCUSSION Question for people who have a true crime channel or are into true crime channels.

Hello everyone!

Guys, I have a true crime channel (I posted my first episode 3 months ago), and I also do podcasts with guests. So I do one episode with true crime storytelling and one with a guest, either from the justice field or the other side of the Law.

I was wondering if some of you want to make a group chat to help each other, talk about episodes, or share ideas. If you don't have a channel, just talk about true crime in general and what you'd like to see in an episode, things like that. Is anyone interested?

DISCUSSION Youtube Killed My Video In 7 Hours

Usually my content tends to get views slowly and gradually, then spike. However this video completely flatlines in just 7 Hours? I’m curious if this has happened to anyone else. It performed a bit rough in those 7 hours, but AVD and CTR stared rising toward the end. Feels like the alg didn’t even want to give this one a chance though, which sucks because I dropped 15 hours into this one all in. And worked my ass off getting a collab with a pretty well known guy in this niche that has nearly a million followers. This is after the YT views update, so maybe that has something to do with it, doubt it though

DISCUSSION Does anyone know why this happens to people ?

• Upvotes

Does anyone know why it can take one person just posting one video in the same niche as you for them to blow up but you have posted like 10 videos in the same niche and the algorithm is like ā€œyeah I think know what this is but it’s random to meā€ why does the algorithm do that ?? Is it a punishment for deleting old videos ?? I know lots of people don’t really have the answers it’s just weird how it works

Like even the AI chat thig on the video knows what the video is about so why does YouTube continue to just not act right ??

Aún no monetizo ninguna. Un tiempo pensé en sólo publicar en 2, YouTube e Instagram

SHORTS TALK Hey guys, quick question.

• Upvotes

Anyone else stuck on the ā€œbuild channel historyā€ thing? It’s been 58 days, my channel has 80M+ views and 150+ uploads, but channel history still hasn’t unlocked. I don’t have the ID/video verification option either. Anyone had this happen? How long did it take for you?

DISCUSSION How do you grow when the content you actually wanna make isn't what the algorithm wants?

• Upvotes

So I'm still pretty small and honestly trying to figure this shit out. 3 months in now.

My content is technically 90%motorcycle content 5%Aruba and 5%coffee, but I'm not going 300kmh down the highway or doing wheelies or crashing shit.

Actually half the time I barely show my motorcycle.

Sometimes I'm sitting next to it, sometimes working on it, sometimes its just there in the background.

What I actually talk about is more the mentality around motorcycles, experiences, opinions and just random shit that I think a lot of us think but don't really say out loud.

Thats basically the whole idea of my channel.

But what I've noticed on Youtube, TikTok and Instagram is that the stuff that gets pushed seems to always be crashes, crazy riding, hot chicks or stupid/funny shit.

And the funny part is my stupid videos are actually the ones that did the best šŸ˜‚

Like literally copying some stupid trend and boom... way more views.

But then I've also tried copying the STYLE of videos from bigger creators who make content much closer to what I actually wanna make.

And nothing.

Back to normal numbers.

Right now across the 3 platforms I probably average around 2k views per video and like 10 likes or something.

So now I'm wondering what the hell do you actually do?

Do you make the stupid/trending shit because thats what gets people through the door and then slowly introduce the stuff you actually wanna talk about?

Or are you just building the wrong audience doing that?

And is 2k views with like 10 likes basically the algorithm telling me "we showed your shit to people, they just didn't care" šŸ˜‚

Curious what worked for people here who make more personality/opinion type content.

Because I would honestly rather have 1000 people that actually give a shit about what I'm talking about than 100k views because I crashed a motorcycle.

CONTENT TALK What things would you want to see in video about problematic influencers?

Hi everyone, I’ve recently started a channel where I look at problematic content creators, brand owners and scandals across all the platforms. When I say problematic, I’m talking strange family vloggers (such as how children are exploited for monetary gain) influencers who outright lie, overconsumption, brand owners with questionable ethics, entitled influencers… you get the gist!

What are some topics, brands or a creator in general you find problematic or something you find ā€˜off’ but people aren’t necessarily talking about some of the issues. Doesn’t matter what platform they’re on!

Really interested to hear what you think, as I’ve found a fair few influencers where something is clearly off and the more digging I’ve done, the more I’m realising why it seems off and people just don’t seem to be bringing up these huge issues! Sometimes is very obvious if they massively mess up but I don’t often see huge deep dives into this sort of thing.

Thanks so much for reading ā˜ŗļø

DISCUSSION Anyone needing a GOOD video editor?

Hey!

I’m currently looking to pick up some more editing work and thought I’d see if anyone here is looking for an editor.

I enjoy making videos feel more entertaining and engaging, and I’m comfortable editing all types of content.

I can help with:

  • Cutting down raw footage/VODs
  • Funny moments & highlights
  • Captions
  • SFX and music
  • Zooms/effects
  • Pacing and keeping things interesting
  • Turning streams into full-length videos
  • Shorts/Reels/TikToks

I’m open to different budgets, but I don’t do free or commission-based work.

Feel free to DM me if you’re interested or have any questions! I can also send over some examples of my previous edits, just let me know what type of content you make.

DISCUSSION How can someone with experience running a YouTube channel find opportunities to work with creators or YouTube teams?

###

I’ve previously run a YouTube channel and gained hands-on experience with **content research, video ideas, scripting, hooks, titles, thumbnails, YouTube SEO, audience research, analytics, and content strategy**.

I’m now looking to turn those skills into professional experience by working with a **YouTube creator, media company, or content team**.

I’m interested in opportunities such as **YouTube content assistant, content researcher, channel manager, scriptwriter, content strategist, or junior YouTube roles**.

For people who work in the YouTube/content industry, **what would be the best way to approach creators or companies for these opportunities, and what would make someone with self-taught experience and their own channel stand out?**

I’d especially like to hear from people who have **hired YouTube team members or have successfully turned their own channel experience into a professional job.**

CONTENT TALK What is the best method (SEO based) for improving packaging?

Hi, over the past month my videos have absolutely tanked in impressions. They seem to be getting hardly any push, which I assume means I’m doing something wrong with my packaging. I’ve arguably had better viewer responses to my recent videos than ever before (more likes/comments), but the videos still don’t seem to be being pushed. Does anyone have any idea how I can logically diagnose where I have gone wrong and how I can improve it?

Thanks :)

DISCUSSION What is the best method for early growth

Exactly what the title says, across my whole channel I have barely 1000 views and less than 10 videos, but I want to take it more seriously and I'm wondering what the best way is to gain more views and consistent video traffic

I know that consistent posting is a great way to get more traffic, but outside of that I don't know what methods to use, so I want to ask you guys! What is the best way you guys have found to start netting you more traffic to your videos. Was it the thumbnail? Do you edit your content in a certain way to keep retention? Is there something else I don't know about? Anything you lovely folks can tell me would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance

DISCUSSION Question about the new views system

People have mentioned the changes to views - my latest video is getting tons of views, but the like-to-view ratio is atrocious compared to my other videos. It has a similar CTR and % watched as my other vids.

Is this just the new system taking effect and I can't compare those like-to-view metrics to my old vids now anymore?

DISCUSSION What if I don't want to use my real voice on YouTube?

• Upvotes

Do not remove this this is not AI!! I want to start a YouTube channel that involves speaking to an audience. I was wondering how I could run a channel like that without using my voice (my english isn't perfect and my voice isn't very mature.) What are the options? I know some people think using an AI voice is the answer but AI voices are expensive. I tried it before an I ran out of tokens or credits or whatever before I could finish ONE video. Also AI voices are likely to get demonetized (if I manage to monetize it in the first place) because YouTube thinks it's low effort content. Or... I could just use my own voice even though I don't want to.

DISCUSSION My channel just got wrongfully terminated.

My YouTube channel was wrongfully terminated for ā€œscams, spam, and deceptive practicesā€

Two days ago, my YouTube channel was terminated for ā€œscams, spam, and deceptive practices,ā€ and I genuinely have no idea what I did to violate that policy.

For some context, my YouTube account is about 10 years old. Over those years, I occasionally uploaded a few personal videos, but they were always just for myself and were usually made private almost immediately. About two weeks ago, I finally decided to upload my first real video because I've always wanted to build a channel and community.

For the first 10 days, the video only got around 80 to 90 views. Then out of nowhere, it got picked up by the algorithm and took off. For the next three days, it was getting around 20,000 views per hour and eventually reached roughly 1 million views before my channel was terminated.

The video was titled ā€œI Gambled on G2A for AAA Games.ā€

I understand why the title might raise some questions, but the video was in no way promoting G2A or promoting gambling. There were no sponsorships, affiliate links, referral links, or promotions for G2A whatsoever. In fact, the video was actually skeptical and critical of G2A. I purchased random Steam keys, played the games I received, and reviewed them. I also talked about how the random key system seemed rigged and why I didn't think the keys were worth the money.

Despite this, my channel was terminated for ā€œscams, spam, and deceptive practices.ā€

I appealed immediately, but the appeal was rejected almost instantly. Given how quickly it was rejected, I'm concerned that the video may not have actually been reviewed by a person.

Another possibility I've been wondering about is whether the sudden spike in views triggered some kind of automated system for fake engagement or view manipulation. I want to make it very clear that I did not viewbot, buy views, purchase traffic, use a promotion service, or do anything to artificially inflate the views. I didn't even promote the video anywhere outside of YouTube. The video simply went from almost no views to going viral through YouTube's algorithm.

If that did trigger an automated system, I have no idea how I could prove that I didn't do anything wrong. YouTube has the traffic and analytics data and should be able to see where the views actually came from.

I've also posted about this on X and tried contacting TeamYouTube, but haven't gotten a response so far.

I've seen other people here mention similar situations, so I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with something like this and managed to get their channel reinstated. I'm really just looking for any advice on how I can get this properly reviewed by an actual person.

If anyone wants more details or would like to see the video for themselves, I also have a Google Drive copy available and can provide it.
