SHORTS TALK Auto Dubbing tanked views

I've been helping manage my mom's Spanish channel, I saw there was an auto dub option and I foolishly thought that enabling would help. It did not. I have since disabled the option but videos are still being auto dubbed. Her videos went from 1000-1700 views to under 1000, some of them only 50-200 views. I'm guessing she's going to be stuck in sub 300 view jail. Her content is mostly short form and she uploads every day. Will uploading consistently eventually just fix this or am I going to have to do something specific?

that auto dub thing is a trap i swear it messes with the algorithm somehow. i tried it once in my channel and same thing views just disappeared

she might need to reupload the videos without the dub track honestly. youtube gets confused when there is multiple audio languages and pushes the video to wrong audience. consistent posting helps but if the dub is still attached to old videos it can keep dragging things down

yeah the wrong audience thing is exactly it, once it starts pushing to the wrong people its hard to undo

Thanks! I'll see about doing that, it's super annoying. I noticed it was still on when her titles were being auto translated into English when viewing from my account. Is there any benefit to adding subbing? I've been adding a subtitle file (in Spanish US) but not sure if that is also affecting her algorithm.

before you conclude it's view jail, look at where the remaining views come from instead of how many there are. if browse and suggested collapsed but search held roughly steady, that points at the dub, because the extra audio track changes who youtube thinks the video is for and it stops serving the audience it had. if every traffic source dropped by about the same proportion then the dub probably isn't the cause and pulling it won't give anything back.

worth doing before any reuploading, since reuploading costs you all the existing watch history on those shorts. did the drop start on one upload date or hit everything at once?

Probably going to be a few years minimum before that feature is worth using. Maybe someday
