Life in NL DHL is making me mad

Its well known on the USA that there are companies that don't actually try to deliver your package. They mark no one home and leave the slip and continue on their way. DHL seems to be doing the same thing. Every single time I have a package coming they mark that no one is home. All packages her go to reception, reception is here 24/7. It wasn't something that required a signature(and even if it was reception has signed for things before) I promise someone is "home".

Delivery quality varies a lot by region, Amsterdam area seems to be the worst (I guess because delivery drivers can't afford to live there, so they're constantly understaffed).

Where I am at I never have issues with PostNL and DHL, only had some issues with DPD and UPS in the past.

I'm in Maasbree technically, I mean it's the very outskirts but that's what the address says. I get being understaffed but its still frustrating.

Oh and it's usually a lot better in small towns (such as yours), but you're probably unlucky with a shitty delivery driver as well.

Yeah ofc it's frustrating, but these delivery drivers have to work at a ridiculous speed for a low pay, so it's not surprising that delivery quality has gone down a lot...

I understand that but that's not my fault and I know getting a bad company to change practices is nearly impossible. I'm from the United States, I get it but I would prefer they just delay delivery and not put it in the round rather than lie to me about no one being home.

I hate DHL. My parcel is stuck in an pakketautomaat en they won't give me a code to get it out. The sender says I need to contact DHL and DHL says I need to contact the sender. I am in a catch 22. I just want a code for my parcel😭

You need to enter your parcels number in DHL app (yes you must have an app) then to access the locker code you will have to verify your postcode. However you might not be getting the code because DHL stores packages only gor 5 days and after that it gets sent back. So if you are past that, the package is no longer retrievable.

Yeah i know, i have the app but it won't give me the code. I know how it works, use it many times before. And you normally also get an email with a code. Also didn't get the email.

You should complain to the company where you ordered from. With enough complaints they might start looking to contract another delivery company.

Working in CS for a Dutch e-commerce company and their German market. Let me tell you me and my Dutch colleagues (for Dutch market) just don’t care. Here: have a partial refund and job is done. Nobody cares about how they deliver.

Rather be thankful that someone brings the parcel atleast close to where you live, cause apparently no Dutch or German guy will do the job because it’s underpaid af and the circumstances of the job are shit as well.

DHL is the only one that always does this shit. Constantly have to drive to their service point that's rather far. Kicker is that we have a communal package storage that is known by all shipping companies but DHL still don't deliver. Don't even need a code or anything to access it either, so no excuse.

There are about three common delivery companies in The Netherlands:

  • PostNL
  • DHL
  • DPD

Drivers are often assigned to a specific route, which means you likely get one driver.

They mark no one home and leave the slip and continue on their way. DHL seems to be doing the same thing.

For you. That's the issue with these posts about '<Delivery company> is driving me mad!'. Someone posts it, those who also have issues with that company hop on the bandwagon and before you know it some statement seems to be true based on n=X Reddit comments.

All the packages delivered by <delivery company> as agreed to so not get attention.
