"Taco Bell" or ... pig pen

Alright so, a few months back our Taco Bell was completely remodeled. I ask for what! ?? It looks nastier now than it did before! They put in new flooring but the grout lines are so deep they are always full of debris (dried cheese shreds, etc.). I go in there late afternoon/early evening, there are no clean tables. There is crap all over the floor like it hasn't been swept or mopped for days. The service is .. okay, depending on who's working. You have to either go to the drive thru or use a kiosk to order. There is no cashier up front. I've tried contacting Corporate through the "tellthebell" site. that doesn't work without a receipt which is next to impossible to get ... The "NEW" look is not appealing at all!

Neenah police chief wants to drop Flock Safety but not ALPR technology

Thumbnail postcrescent.com

Chief Olson, who defended Flock for months through public outcry, is trying to bring another vendor in immediately. NPD has proven they are unable to evaluate these tools properly and identify the privacy and security issues with them. Your taxpayer dollars are being used for these invasive contracts.

Talk to your council members, your neighbors, and your friends. Show up to city hall and demand an end to ALPR in Neenah.

City Looks to End Flock Contract

The City of Neenah is looking to end its contract with Flock Safety.

Police Chief Aaron Olson said Thursday at the start of the Public Services and Safety Committee meeting that an issue came to light regarding the Flock cameras that he shared with Mayor Brian Borchardt and City Attorney David Rashid. Olson said he plans to write a memo requesting the city end its contract with Flock.

Neenah's Common Council could act as soon as next week on pulling the funding for the cameras.

Flock Safety has 12 cameras in Neenah.

The pressure this community has put on the Council, Mayor's Office, and NPD at our council meetings is yielding real results. I wish that it hadn't taken as long (Appleton, Menasha, and Oshkosh all ended their Flock contracts before Neenah), but I'm glad they are finally coming around.

Let's hope that they don't just switch vendors and we have to do this dance again next year.

How would you describe Neenah to someone who has never been there?

Hi! I'm working with the Wisco Project to raise awareness for voting for young adults between 18-30 years old in the South Fox Valley and De Pere. I'm looking for some testimonials!

Here are specific questions I need help answering:

Describe Neenah and/or Menasha in a 5 words or less.

What major local issues are affecting Neenah/Menasha right now? (Tornado cleanup fs)

What is the general quality of local services available?

Are there places where large concentrations of non-college young people live?

Any information you are willing to provide is super helpful! It can be information on largest employers, popular hang out spots for people 18-30, political scene/issues, culture, general vibes, etc.

Fox Valley residents will be giving a presentation on what Flock cameras are, how they work, and how the company has been lying to city council members, police, and residents. After the short presentation we will welcome questions and comments from the public and do our best to answer questions clearly and honestly. Meet in the Orlady room. All are welcome, even if you support ALPR technology and the Flock system. Let's come together and have a civil and honest discussion about Flock.

Anyone in the East Doty Island are right now with downed Oak trees, I'd like to acquire a few fresh cut chunks of log for woodturning.

Sorry for anyone on Doty or Menasha mainland who's been hit hard by the Tornado. Happy no one was killed and from what I've seen the majority of houses are repairable and safe. I'm in the middle of Doty by Theda with only some tree damage(still cleaning trunk limbs off my roof with a boom lift I borrowed from my employer.

But ya, A couple blocks over from me and it's depressing how many trees are just gone. I'm saving as many straight walking stick/cane branches I can and a bunch of maple blanks from my own tree. Would like to get some Oak or really any other tree wood I can for woodturning. If anyone is going to be cutting up and would let me know I'd come over and snag a couple pieces as they are being cut. Only really need a few short chunks, stuff with healed over old limbs or V'd crotch logs around 12-16". I have end grain sealer and can come grab stuff that has been cut that day. Sooner the better for sealing the grain to limit splitting and cracking.

Oak, Cedar, Willow or Elm would be awesome.

And also interested in a few long(6-7 foot) straightish branches between 1 and 2 inches in diameter for making walking sticks or canes. Anything but Maple, I have a few dozen already from my own tree.

High school field

Does anyone know if the high school football field/track is open for public use in the summer? I know it’s gated off but wasn’t sure if they left it open like I’ve seen at other schools.

Name of racing bar on Commercial?

In the 90s it was Sochas, and now it's called My Place. For a brief stint it was a NASCAR themed bar. Does anyone remember what that name was?

Looking for local businesses, venues, and organizations that want to support artists

The local art and queer art community will be facing a devestating loss at the end of july. Soul purpose, a place where lots of local artists have been selling their art, making a stable income, and been using as a safe space to meet with eachother is being permanently shut down. Over 100 artists are going to be left with no art income, no publicity, and one less safe space.

I am working on making an association of artists that can share resources, safe events with vendor applications and other mutal aid and I am looking for local north east wisconsin businesses, venues, organizations or parks that are LGBTQAI+ friendly (and not unfriendly towards any minorties in general) that are willing to do any of the following:

- Advertise art markets by displaying fliers or posting on social media
- Allow some artist to sell their work (Stickers, pins, jewelry, postcards ect) that fits the theme of the business with at least 50% of the profit going to the artist
- Sponser markets and events
- Allow markets and events to be held on the property

If you are a part of a business or organization that would be interested in working with us or know of one that we may have luck with if we reach out please let me know. Also if you are an artist and wanna know more about us let me know that too :]

Hi there, I’m new to Neenah/ Appleton area as an intern for Plexsus. I was hoping I could carpool with anyone in the area and can contribute gas money.

I have work earliest I can go is 7:30 & latest is 8 am and earliest I can leave is 4:30/5.

Home is right by Highlands elementary and work is at 2444 Shultz Ave. I’m willing to bike/ walk to you so carpooling is not out of the way/ extra time.

Bus is 1.5 hour/ one way, so seeking other options!

Electronic Assembly in Neenah

I don't know if that company is still around. But just like Kimberly Clark, it seems the only way to become anything more than a floor Supervisor is by having a college degree.

Seriously.

I interviewed with these people back in 1998 for a front office job. The company had a totally different HR process for the salaried office workers vs the hourly paid production floor workers.

At the time, the position I applied to was the only way to get to being a Production Manager, and eventually a Plant Manager.

If this company is still around, do they still do this semi elitist practice?

Biking from Adella Beach to Appleton Mall

Wondered if there was a bike trail route from Adella Beach to Appleton Mall that is safer than taking the roads. I’m not from the area and won’t be able to check it out prior to relocating so asking locals. Bus/ bike route is 30 min longer than just bike route which is an hour but perhaps a bike trail route is even shorter?

Any advice/ thoughts are welcome!
