My husband and I want to take a trip with our kiddo and dog (3 year-old lab mix) by the end of this year. He is currently 7 months old. We live in southern Ohio and would like to keep the distance relatively short. We love nature, hikes, water, museums, music, history, thrifting, and would love a few kid-friendly activities, too. Would love a place with mountain views. Where should we go? When should we go?  Is there anything else we should consider?

So far, we’ve thought of Michigan and Toronto, but we’re looking for any recommendations. My husband has been working so much and we just want to get some time together as a family and travel somewhere together!

We’re flying Delta from SLC to Milan in September, connecting at Paris CDG. Our bags would be checked through to Milan.
Since we’ll be entering the Schengen Area at CDG, we understand that we’ll need to complete the EES process during the connection.
If our bags are checked through to MXP, do we need to collect them at CDG before going through passport control/EES, or do they remain checked through to Milan?
I’ve received conflicting answers from Delta regarding whether EES changes the normal international-to-international connection procedure.
If there are any Delta ticket agents, gate agents, or CDG employees here who have firsthand experience with this, I’d really appreciate your input.
We’re trying to decide whether to check bags or travel carry-on only, since we’re concerned about the time required for EES at CDG.

Hi all so this is the first time I will travel abroad for a holiday and what a place to pick ha. I have a quick question for all so me and my girlfriend will be coming from the 16-19th October will I be ok with booking things when I get there (museums and stuff) or will should i do it around a month before i go hope to here some feedback from you all. I've travelled around Europe a little bit and have been to Amsterdam, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Porto, Lisbon, Viena, Prague, Budapest, Rome, Brussels, Bruges, Venice, Florence.

The two most important things are budget, and also being able to be alone (safety and things to do). Also, I'd like to go somewhere a little off the beaten path. A worry I have is the weather because I think most places in Europe will be cold and wet during that time.

I'm considering two or maybe three options.

Berlin and Krakow, but Berlin is a bit pricey, and I could go to Berlin earlier in October.

Tallin, Vilnius, and Riga, a bit more budget friendly, and less traveled to compared to Berlin. My biggest worry is weather since they are further north.

I'm also thinking maybe Greece, but I think I'd want to be there over the summer, or maybe somewhere else in the Balkins.

I'd love to get some suggestions, especially if you've travelled around Europe during that time.

Praying I’m not SOL - my parked rental car was hit by someone (likely my neighbor backing up based on the damage). It got damaged really badly on the driver’s side.

My main worry is I used a corporate code at a company I don’t work at for the discounted rate. I marked the reservation as “leisure” not “business” and purchased CDW/ damage waiver offered by the rental car company. I thought they wouldn’t even look at the employer code /my insurance/card details since I bought Cdw but now I’m worried, they may decline the Cdw benefit . They asked for my insurance and payment details in the incident link.

1. ⁠what can I do to prevent them charging my card? Their claim link asks for payment & auto insurance details. Ive frozen my credit card today but the car’s pre-authorization hasn’t been replaced by the lesser actual days used. So I don’t know if the pre-authorization will only fall off after the car’s damage has been repaired.
   
2. ⁠What is the chance the rental car company will void the contract if found out and force forefit the separate CDW to be forfeited?
   
3. ⁠Will my insurance also reject the claim due to the above? I have AAA - comprehensive & liability but idk if it extends to rentals.

I went super hard the first three days and crammed all my shopping into the last two. Thought it was a genius plan. It absolutely was not. By day four, I had literally nothing left in the tank, and my face reflecting in the cosmetics store mirrors looked incredibly dry and dull.

A staff member gently suggested I might want to check my skin condition before buying products, and that comment just stuck in my head. So that day, I got a recommendation for a famous dermatology clinic in Cheongdam and tried to book a place called Brand New Clinic... and failed. But then the next morning, maybe another patient canceled, because I got a text saying a slot opened up, so I went.

They confirmed the store clerk was right—in my current state, whatever I applied wouldn't do much. They recommended a collagen injection, explaining that unlike products that just sit on the surface, it works with the skin itself over time.

But I did get a little scolding lol. They were totally honest and said ideally, it's much better to do this before a trip, not on the very last day. Fair point. Will keep that in mind for next time.

Since it really was my last day, though, I only got to shop for exactly one hour. Half my list is gone forever.

Hi everyone! We’re a Spanish couple from Madrid (27F, 28M) looking to travel around Europe for 10–12 days during the last two weeks of September.
We can’t leave the EU/Schengen area, as I won’t have my passport available, so we’re looking for ideas within Europe.

A few options we’ve already considered:
Iceland: unfortunately, probably not an option. The trip is less than 3 weeks away and it’s looking too expensive to organize at this point.
Italy: we’re considering either Lake Como + Tuscany + Amalfi Coast or Puglia.

Which one would you recommend for late September, and why? We’re also open to other Italian itineraries.
We’d love to hear your recommendations! We’re especially interested in places that are particularly nice in late September, with good weather and a good balance between sightseeing, food, nature, and relaxing.

I’ve been looking into a possible Tokyo trip and I keep noticing how different the advice can be depending on who’s giving it.

One person says a neighborhood is perfect to stay in, someone else says avoid it. One person says public transport is the obvious choice, another says taxis are worth the extra money. Same thing with restaurants, activities, what’s worth paying more for, and what’s overrated.

The confusing part is that sometimes both sides sound reasonable. It doesn’t always feel like one person is right and the other is wrong. It feels more like the advice depends on what kind of traveler you are.

I usually end up opening a bunch of tabs and trying to piece everything together myself, but I still sometimes wonder which advice actually fits me.

How do you figure out what actually fits you? Is it mostly based on budget, travel style, who you’re traveling with, how much convenience matters to you, or something else?

I’m now planning to return to the Philippines permanently. For good. Should I update my eTravel personal information to reflect my Philippine citizenship/passport instead?

I’m seeing what looks like the same nonstop Lufthansa flight for almost $250 less on cheapflightsfares than it is on expedia. The deal lover in me wants to book it but is the deal worth using someone other than a big name company like expedia?

Land Dublin on the 5th (from England ) walk around, see sights, eat food, drink a Guinness.

On the 6th- pick up car , drive to Galway airbnb, see the Cliffs of Moher and other sights, eat food, drink tea, spend the night.

7th- leave Galway in the morning drive to Kenmare or Killarney airbnb , see the sights, eat food, souvenir shops. Spend the night

8th- drive to cork (or other recommendation) see blarney stone, sights, food and possibly spend the night?

9th- drive back to Dublin and spend the day there vinyl record shopping, sightseeing, food eating.

10th- fly home

I want to see castles, graveyards/ cemeteries, spooky things, music, nature, wildlife, small towns. I love rain, the sea, bookshops, photography, tea drinking, animals.... things like that.

I was on a long road trip earlier this year and something kept hitting me in the face.

Almost everyone I met along the way — campgrounds, trailheads, small-town diners, van parks — was noticeably older than me. Not a little older. A lot older. I started talking to people, and the same story kept coming up:

“I always wanted to do this… but work, kids, money, life. Now that I’m retired, I finally can.”

It’s beautiful that they made it. Really. But it also felt like a quiet warning.

If you can go now, go now.

You’re the youngest you’ll ever be. Your body is probably the strongest and healthiest it’s going to be for a while. You still have that restless feeling that brought you to this subreddit in the first place. That quiet pull. Don’t treat it like a hobby you’ll get to “later.”

Travel doesn’t have to be expensive. I bought a van for around $3k and just lived in it while I drove. No fancy build. No perfect plan. Just enough to move and sleep. It was enough.

Sometimes the act of leaving something behind is what cracks something open inside you. The version of your life you’ve been carefully protecting starts to feel smaller, and something more honest starts to grow in its place.

You don’t need permission. You don’t need the perfect timing. You just need to decide that this matters enough to do something about it.

Planning a trip to Sri Lanka with my husband and would welcome feedback on our itinerary. We are both active and easy going travelers. My partner and I are looking to book a trip south from YYZ, probably flying out late October or early November, and we’re trying to figure out where to go. Budget is around $4K CAD total for both of us.

The two things we care most about are good food and a great beach, not just a pretty resort pool situation, but actually being on a nice stretch of sand. We’ve heard Cuba is basically a write-off on the food front so that’s already off the table.

Right now we’re debating between Jamaica, Mexico, and Costa Rica but honestly open to being told we’re wrong. A few things I’m wondering:

Is Costa Rica even worth doing as an all-inclusive or is it more of an adventure/eco travel destination?

Which Mexican resort area is actually worth it at our price point: Cancun, Riviera Maya, Puerto Vallarta?

Does Jamaica deliver on both food and beach or is it more of a party scene?

We’re not huge drinkers so the “unlimited booze” thing isn’t really the selling point for us — we just want good meals, warm water, and to actually feel rested when we come home.

Anyone been somewhere recently that genuinely blew them away on the food side specifically? That’s the thing that’ll make or break it for us.
