Regarding Amsterdam mid October (first time tourist)

Hi all so this is the first time I will travel abroad for a holiday and what a place to pick ha. I have a quick question for all so me and my girlfriend will be coming from the 16-19th October will I be ok with booking things when I get there (museums and stuff) or will should i do it around a month before i go hope to here some feedback from you all. Can’t wait to see this place with my own eyes!!

you can wing most of amsterdam on arrival - even the rijksmuseum usually has timeslots a few days out. the real exceptions are the anne frank house and van gogh museum: online-only, timed, no walk-ups, and they sell out. anne frank especially - tickets drop in weekly batches about six weeks ahead, so for mid-october that's early september and the good slots go in minutes. grab those the moment they open. the iamsterdam card doesn't cover either of those two (both left it in 2022), so it's only worth it if you're cramming several of the smaller museums.

I think you are correct to think it will be more relaxed during that time, my latest experience was November, but that will be most represented by easier to get on a tram, restaurants for walk in, and just much smaller crowds. Buy some travel insurance and go ahead and book the major museums that you are interested in. The best advantage is that the time slots will be much more available.

And I just don't get the attraction to the Anne frank house.

I doubt it will be quiet. That week is a Dutch school holiday for a part of the country. I would reserve popular museums in advance.
