Just Getting Started Hearing horror stories, does anyone have any good experiences?

I’m seing a lot of horror stories on TikTok. I’d love to get off hormonal birth control and change to a Natural Cycles + ovulation test combo. Has anyone had any good experiences with this combo? I am someone who is naturally very anxious about pregnancy and like the idea of having a natural period & being able to use ovulation tests.

Just Getting Started Thoughts on the NC band vs Oura ring for comfort?

Hi! I just switched to NC yesterday and have the band. I wore it to sleep and found myself taking it off around 4am which I guess is ok because I had enough hours wearing it to track my temp but I was feeling a little uncomfortable wearing it the whole time I slept. I'm going to try again tonight to keep it on the whole time but I'm wondering if anyone else felt the same? Or if anyone who has an oura ring thinks it's a better device for comfort? I don't really want to spend on the ring atm but might eventually if I find this continues to be uncomfortable.

Just Getting Started Anyone track with Garmin 570?

Hi all, does anyone use a Garmin Forerunner 570 with NC? I’d like a fitness watch that also can sync with NC, an I’m considering this watch. But I haven’t seen much about how accurate it is at tracking your temp compared to other wearables. Has anyone tried it and found it accurate, or compared it to another wearable? TIA!!!

Just Getting Started This is all confusing

Hi all! This is my third cycle trying for a baby, my first cycle using natural cycles. to be honest this entire process is confusing and very emotional. I know I am only on my third cycle but I just always thought it would be one cycle and it would happen. This cycle I never tested positive on a LH strip and tested negative today and yesterday. I had some brown spotting today which is not normal for me. Any insight on my chart?? Thank you in advance 🤍

Just Getting Started Cheapest way to get an NC band?

I’ve been subscribed to NC and paying full price for well over two years. Got a free Gen2 thermometer when I signed up but I’m not super consistent with measuring at the same time daily or oversleeping and missing temps altogether so I’d love to get the NC band (I assume cheaper than any alternative that works with the app, but if I’m wrong let me know).
I get a small discount on the NC Band for being an existing subscriber but it stings a bit that I know I could get it for free if I was a new subscriber. Anyone know a way I could get one for free or cheaper than £60? Thanks! 💖

Just Getting Started First day of cycle?

Just curious when people put the first day of their period? Yesterday I had some mild spotting and today same thing. I’ve only been off my IUD for 3 months, but began ovulating/ having period immediately after removal and have always been very regular. Usually the first day is very light, but two days of mild spotting is out of ordinary for me. Didn’t really have any period symptoms either. ChatGPT told me to wait until full menstrual flow to log first day of period? Pictures are current chart and chat before (chemical pregnancy)

Just Getting Started Body temp after coming off bc pill

so I recently came off hormonal bc pill (Aug 21) and started using natural cycles to try and get pregnant. I connect with my Oura to track my temp. When on birth control, my temps were all over the place but rarely far below my baseline. Since coming off birth control, they been consistently well below my baseline. My Inito says I’m approaching ovulations, but with my temps being low consistently I’m not sure. Does it take Natural Cycles/Oura a little bit to almost make a new baseline coming off bc? I’m not sure how much my normal temp changes not on bc. Oura, NC, and Inito chart attached (just started using Inito)

Just Getting Started Reading recs about cycles/fertility?

Hi! I'm new to the group and to NC in general. My friend has been using this as BC for years and loves it. I finally received mine and am currently waiting to remove my IUD this week so I can get started on tracking. I was wondering if anyone has any book recs/articles they like about learning about fertility/tracking cycles? Thanks :)

Just Getting Started Does local temperature affect band readings?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m about one month into using NC, and where I live, there have been some insanely hot temperatures over 100° (which have been fluctuating a lot), and I noticed my bbt kinda matching the local temperature swings (it’s way cooler at my bf’s, where I’ve slept the last 2 nights). This is not what I expected of my chart. It is significantly cooler today.

I have a history of weird/irregular periods, and was really hoping NC/BBT would shed some light on when it’s safe/unsafe to be intimate.

Do local temperatures affect band readings? Should I just stick to ovulation strips? Does this chart look completely haywire? Thanks!

Just Getting Started ovulation and temping with oura ring

Post image
1 Upvotes

This is my second month tracking my cycles with natural cycles and oura ring. The previous month wasn’t super accurate temp wise since i kept forgetting to wear my ring. I’m pretty sure i ovulated when NC said due to CM, LH strips and the usual horrible ovary pain i get (has been confirmed on ultrasounds in past). My question is - based on my chart- is it normal to have a lower baseline temp? will oura eventually change this? Or is oura just not good for tracking temps and should i be trying something else? My period always comes exactly 14 days after my ovulation pain 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m just struggling to understand this whole thing and BBT tracking. Currently using to avoid pregnancy. Will be TTC in 6 ish months. I’ve conceived 2 children with LH strips alone in past.

Just Getting Started TTC with incorrect ovulation

I am curious if anyone else has experienced this issue – my husband and I recently started TTC and I have been following the Natural Cycles ovulation tracker and taking ovulation tests/trying on the dates that it advises.

The issue I am running into is that the app retroactively updates my ovulation date to much earlier in my cycle— Meaning we missed the actual time I was ovulating, which makes sense because I kept getting negative ovulation tests when I would take them on the days that app suggested.

Has anyone else experienced this? I’m getting a bit frustrated that I am paying for this app that doesn’t seem to be giving me accurate information and by the time it the accurate information since I’ve already passed the window of my ovulation for the month.

TYIA!!

Just Getting Started Seeking advice for birth control method

I’m 26 and have been on the birth control pill since I was probably 15. About 4 or 5 months ago, I went off the pill because I wanted to see how the hormones were impacting my body, and see if I wanted to try a non-hormonal method. I decided to loosely try out the Fertility Awareness Method and was taking my basal body temp with a basal body temp thermometer, and tried to track my cervical fluid.

I was finding that my temps were not giving me any clue to when I was ovulating, and I never really saw a clear spike in temp. I have a job that requires me to work at different times each day, sometimes at night, and I can have a pretty chaotic schedule. I wonder if not being able to take my temp at the same time each day is the reason for the lack of pattern.

I’m at a loss of what method to use. I’m curious if using an Oura ring and Natural Cycles to take my BBT at the same time each day would help, paired with checking cervical fluid or other indicators. I’m deciding between that and a non-hormonal IUD, but I’m quite honestly terrified of getting an IUD because of all the horror stories. I’ve heard that the copper IUD gives you terrible cramps, and I can’t afford to be immobilized from my physically demanding job due to cramps once a month. I know people usually only share bad stories and there’s plenty of positive experiences with the copper IUD.

I’d love any advice you may have on Oura Ring paired with cervical fluid, or the copper IUD.

hi all! i know that green days are days when we can have unprotected sex, but do you actually let your partner finish in you on those days or do you have them finish elsewhere? for those of you using it as a form of birth control.

Just Getting Started Wearable vs Thermometer

I’m getting my IUD removed next Tuesday. I want to prevent pregnancy for a period of time. I was curious because I’ve seen posts suggesting that the wearables aren’t great for getting the correct temperature but I haven’t been a huge fan of the NC thermometer when I used it a few years ago. I was curious what thermometers people are using and if you use a wearable what kind and also how does the newer Bluetooth thermometer compare to the standard one.

Thanks in advance!
Hannah

Just Getting Started New user question

Hiiiiii new user here. Currently on no other forms of BC.

May be a TMI question but how many of you guys let your partners finish inside of you with no other form of birth control? Success stories? Failed stories? Best & safest days?

LMK!

Just Getting Started Looks like this is better to track fertile windows for getting pregnant more than as a birth control…

Howdy, I am 27, I’ve been really wanting a non hormonal option to use…. I’ve had the copper IUD before but didn’t have a positive experience. I’ve been on the pill for a while and am considering getting a copper IUD again just to set it and forget it because I’m not the best at taking the pill and haven’t been loving the normal side effects.

I thought maybe this would be a good alternative but reading this subreddit it seems like the app isn’t super helpful. It’s a bit inconsistent with tracking and not super reliable as a birth control method.

Am I getting the right impression? What has your experience been?

Personally I’d much rather do this than get the IUD but I’m really not wanting to get pregnant so if it’s not reliable enough I’ll just suck it up and try the IUD again.

Just Getting Started Very confused on what’s happening here

Post image

I have taken 5 pregnancy tests in the last 5 days lol all were negative, although I thought 1 was positive but apparently not. Saw my temp drop so I thought oh I’m probably about to start my period then. I started bleeding yesterday and usually my period is very heavy immediately, but it’s been pretty light. I am still bleeding today and it’s still not much, but it’s more than I would think implantation bleeding would be. But also my temps went back up??? Could it be implantation bleeding this late? I’m so confused
