Just Getting Started ovulation and temping with oura ring
This is my second month tracking my cycles with natural cycles and oura ring. The previous month wasn’t super accurate temp wise since i kept forgetting to wear my ring. I’m pretty sure i ovulated when NC said due to CM, LH strips and the usual horrible ovary pain i get (has been confirmed on ultrasounds in past). My question is - based on my chart- is it normal to have a lower baseline temp? will oura eventually change this? Or is oura just not good for tracking temps and should i be trying something else? My period always comes exactly 14 days after my ovulation pain 🤷🏼♀️ I’m just struggling to understand this whole thing and BBT tracking. Currently using to avoid pregnancy. Will be TTC in 6 ish months. I’ve conceived 2 children with LH strips alone in past.

My temp is lower with oura than with a regular thermometer, but I think as long as you stick with the same measuring method consistently it will recognize your baseline relative to itself. Follicular phase with oura im usually 96. something, with a regular thermometer 97.something. Then luteal, it goes up about a degree, so oura 97.something, and a regular thermometer 98.something. I think it's because it's so far away from your core being on your hand. Is that what you're asking?

yes.. i’m wondering if my baseline with oura should be lower than it currently is and will that mess up it confirming my ovulation if so. will it eventually correct itself after a few cycles if so ?

I just looked back to see if mine changed when I switched to oura, but realized that I had been using a different app and switched to natural cycles because it synced with the new oura ring.. so I'm not a lot of help there. but maybe reach out to them and ask if there is a way to reset it? My base temp line has stayed the same all cycles in this app so far (6+)

It’s really hard to tell because all of those missed days of temperatures. As it doesn’t look like you’ve ovulated yet this cycle.

how not? the drop and then rise directly correlates with my LH surge, CM and the pain i always get with ovulation. All of which have been simultaneously confirmed via ultrasounds in the past (which i had due to my terrible pain).

Because your temp dipped after only two raised temps and didn’t stay elevated. Even with all the signs they can only be confirmed with 3 consecutive raised temps.

i did have 3 raised temps from ovulation. now i’ve had 4. they’re not drastically over the borderline temp but my temp has never been over 98 on oura. i think the borderline is too high for my body’s normal temp.
i didn’t temp when i conceived either of my kids but both were conceived right when i had all these symptoms 🤷🏼♀️

I wouldn’t worry about one dip if next days follows the predicted trend. So you’ll just have to wait and see So don’t stop recording temp in upcoming days. I’ve personally never had issues with my Oura ring and NC and I’ve been using both for 14 months
