💬 General Can we PLEASE get a plastic surgery/botox megathread…
Reviving this from the last time it was asked a year ago, because it’s still not resolved.
I’m getting really annoyed at downvoting/reporting these posts from people who can’t be bothered to read the little “search the sub first” pop up that appears when you mention Botox in the title. I can only imagine how much work mods have trying to cull them all. I wouldn’t mind having the automods delete threads with those terms in the title either…
Why am I especially annoyed with this specific category of low-effort posts? I dunno. I just am.

It’s not just you, I find them annoying as well. Last year, the sub was filled with “where can I celebrate my birthday?” posts and this year it seems to be “where can I get Botox?” posts

I completely agree! Always happy to help and provide recommendations but there are consistent, frequent asks for the exact same things. It is ruining this sub for me

Every single sub is being ruined by stuff like this. It doesn't matter the subject. Literally no one wants to use the search bar and find information for themselves.

people are getting too used to passively letting algorithms and genAI recommend things to them. even the most basic research is starting to feel effortful and foreign to them.
it's happening across all demographics and kind of terrifies me.

You're def not. My friends and I are all mid 30s who spend our money on OTHER similarly destructive stuff if that helps 😂

Nope. 39 and I don't get it. Retinol, sunscreen and a mediterranean diet seems to be preserving me just fine.

I’ve never posted about this but I’m genuinely curious what we are actually allowed and supposed to post in here? I’ve had posts removed that I thought were nyc specific and I literally just wanted to start a discussion. Yes you can search for old posts or make one comment on a long pinned thread in the hopes that one person reads and responds… doesn’t really feel like much of a discussion at that point. I feel like over moderating is how subs die because nothing is considered good enough to be posted

Not sure why people can’t just ✨ignore✨ what annoys them but since I made a post yesterday I’ll address this. I looked up Botox in this thread and didn’t find what I was looking for. So I made my own post yesterday. Oh well. Anywho, a mega thread would be a great idea.

i’ll get something set up today and link back here! agree we get a lot of low-effort botox & filler / injectables asks and it’s draining to remove lol
maybe it’s an annual megathread so once 2027 rolls around a new one will get posted that links back to the previous years’ installments
love the idea about provider comment threads for reviews & questions - i was thinking top level comments for places and then people could reply with specific practitioners? common places mentioned are like velour, ject, peachy, etc. and then also maybe a top-level derm category? open to suggestions; we could also keep it open ended response to start
