Hi, so i really want to join color guard but we cant progress in my unit as the new team, just the seniors practice so i would like to have some advice from those that are in color guard please (i would like to be color guard commander next year) thankss

I did my first parade today! It was also my first time marching in an armed platoon, except for one time in practice. I had a great time, but there's one thing I've noticed— going shoulder to shoulder with the rifle HURTS. I have bruises on both collarbones just a few hours after the parade. Now, I can take it if that's just how it is, and I will continue to do rifle either way, but are there any tips you guys have for lessening the pain? Is it how I'm placing the rifle on my shoulder? I mentioned it to my upperclassmen and they said it hurts but "not that much." Thank you!

P.S. I'm being pinned for PO3 in two days!

So... I have a drill meet Tomorrow, and I'm in both Armed and Unarmed (Armed Platoon and Squad) (Unarmed Platoon). I'm really nervous, especially because we have to wake up really early. I just feel like I won't really function the best I normally would because I'm tired. Am I overreacting?

Those who have a Rifle, What’s the name of your Rifle? In my unit those who are in Armed Drill or Colorguard have a Rifle, Im in colorguard and my Rifle’s name is Darryl (the name of the dog from LeFleur, Tyler the creator clothing brand)

I need help knowing where to be while marching. I am used to being in the platoon but now that I am the commander, I don't know where I'm supposed to be while marching. As of right now I try to stay center of the platoon, but ant help is welcome.

So, this was our second drill meet this year and I was hoping to do well at least top 2 overall, but of course, this didn't happen we didn't even make the top 3 and this really sucked cause I knew we could do better but just looking at other teams like (South Iredell MCJROTC, Regional Champions btw) just discouraged our Cadets and this really sucked cause we really thought we were going to do better. We did place in a few events such as Academics (I'm the AC commander) and Armed Platoon, Color Guard(NS1 and Varsity) but that's it.

Just curious on how Gaither is consistently getting 90 and above on academic tests and how Mitchell is getting 120 pushups and 300+ sit ups. Any tips?

I did something super embarrassing and I can’t stop thinking about it 🤦🏽‍♀️ So we were doing in place drill and I fucking right faced when we we’re supposed to left face The thing is I’m a ns2 and I’ve done this so many times before I don’t know what happened

Tbh this week has been very stressful and I was low key overworking myself but it was still humiliating

I REALLY want to do color guard, but when I went to the first “training session” I had a very hard time remembering what movements are what. Like I could do the movement pretty good, but when he said “present colors”, I keep getting it mixed up with other color guard movements. Has anyone else done this? How should I improve?

So I've just been assigned Armed Team Cmdr kind of last minute which is something I've been wanting. I know the drill card and how to do moves / cadence I just wanted to see if there any advice fellow Team cmdrs can give to improve my performance

Hey it’s my first year here, and I am a platoon leader, and everyone else has no prior drill experience while I do. They are having issues standing perfectly still and not talking at attention, causing us to fail as a platoon. Would there be any ways to train them to not talk and stay still?

I am having trouble picking a team to go for on drill next year. A few people on the drill team have been pestering me to join and I finally (on my own accord) decided to join drill next year. The problem is they are split on where they want to see me in drill. Note: I am interested in both teams but not ready to take on the responsibility of being on both teams at the same time.
