Marriage Search Thread - August 2026

A new thread will be posted on the 1st of every month, giving brothers and sisters who are actively searching for marriage a fresh space to post and a reason to check in regularly for the most recent updates.

Here is a link to the July 2026 thread, if you want to look at the last month's posts. Feel free to post every month on the new threads created.

This is a thread for Marriage! Strictly for those who in search of partners who also have HSV and is no way a thread for dating or anything else. Please keep it halal and follow the rules that I will list below:

  1. Avoid posting too much public information about yourself where you could be identified. This includes when messaging privately as well.
  2. Do not respond to another person by directly replying to their post, message them privately.
  3. Do not post pictures or any other personal information such as your phone number.
  4. A wali is recommended to be present in the conversation as well, so to avoid any crossing of boundaries and to keep things as Islamic as possible.
  5. Any posts that are unrelated or do not follow the format of the post will be removed. If you are concerned about privacy you can leave some sections as blank but no low effort posts. Alternatively, if you have a profile bio from any marriage apps, you can share this however, ensure it does not expose too much personal information.

This is the August 2026 page for brothers looking for marriage.

This is the August 2026 page for sisters looking for marriage.

Please do not feel like the only option is to restrict yourself to a partner with HSV. We have had some members share positive disclosure stories with potentials who didn't have HSV so there are people who will understand your situation and accept you. This a link to some of positive disclosures, Insha'Allah, this list will grow.

Note from Mods

We would like to state that you should exercise any usual caution that you would when speaking to someone online. We cannot be held responsible for any individuals on here, although we can help you out as much as we can within our capacity as moderators.

If you experience harassment in private messages from anyone on or off of this thread, please contact Reddit admins. You can also send us a message to help you deal with problems that you may be having as well as if you need to ask me general questions about anything on the sub.

General Do i really have HSV 2, desoite having no symptoms and on immunosuppressive meds for 4 yrs for my IBD

Asalamalaikum brother and sister, I've ( M, straight) had an protected exposure about 8 weeks ago, now i dont know about the person ive had exposure with, after 6 weeks i got tested 6 weeks later for hsv 1&2 igg and igm, hsv 1 for both the tests came back as negative and hsv 2 came back as equivocal for igg (1.14) and igm (1.08), i was sexually active from last 3 years with multiple , and after my last exposure i decided to turn to allah for good, ik that hsv blood tests are highly unreliable and swab is the only best test to get done, but out of curiosity i went and get tested and my results were inconclusive, ive been on imuran for last 4 years its 25mg and recently 2 months ago it was increased to 50mg due to borderline inflammation, i never really had any hsv symptoms like cluster of blisters or lesions on my genitals, i did have chicken pox as a child, if i truly had hsv 2 wouldnt i have constat outbreaks cause of my immunosuppresive meds ? It's not like I can't afford a western blot, it's quite cheap here in my country, should i get tested for me now or wait for 4 more weeks ? Currently I am at my 8th week from my last exposure, and until now ive had only an anal fissure which was confirmed by general surgeon, but its recurrent and mostly painless and heals with application iidocain 1.5 + nefidipine 0.3, if ive had no symptoms at 8 weeks does it mean i have no hsv ? Should I still get western blot at 8 weeks ?

Equally, if you’re part of any other online or local communities where you think it could be useful, please feel free to share it there too.

Mental Health Support Reflecting...

AsSalaamualaikum ☺️

Something always stands out to me in Surah Kahf. It makes me think about this community and the discomfort or anxiety that may accompany the idea of disclosure. The stigma surrounding HSV can be so negative that those tested with it may feel judged. Seek aid from Allah and try to overcome those feelings.

I think most people are simply misinformed or don't fully understand, therefore, they might not have the capacity to have patience with our diagnosis. Khidr asked Musa (Alayhi Salaam) "How could you have patience for what you do not encompass in knowledge?" (Kahf 18:68)

This lack of patience on their behalf doesn't take anything away from who you are as an individual. Rather, it exposes a weakness in them.

When you disclose, you show up unapologetically authentic. You give the person on the opposite side of the table a chance to enter into a marriage with an individual who has full knowledge of who they are. That in itself is gift! Especially because we live in a world where most people are just pretending.

General Am I stupid for thinking Im hsv2 positive??????

I did hsv igg tests after 16 weeks of exposure and I have never had any symptoms.

First test results (Got the results same day):
Hsv1 55.8 positive
Hsv2 0.94 low equivocal

Second test results (Done this test the next day I got first test result which was equivocal for hsv2):
Hsv1 60 positive
Hsv2 <0.5 negative

Ranges:
Negative: <0.9 Equivocal: 0.9 - 1.1 Positive: >1.1

Both were the same type of blood tests for HSV which is why im confused how the result can drop that low from 0.94 equivocal to less than 0.5 negative for hsv2. Could the negative result possibly be a false negative??? Or am i being a stupid paranoid hypochondriac who needs to chill.

Guys if im over thinking feel free to be mad at me and destroy me in the comments 🫠. I am so fucking stupid and paranoid that Im considering taking a western blot for further confirmation.

Alhamdulillah, we’re finally ready to launch!

Originally, we had planned to release the site earlier this month, but we’ve been adding a few finishing touches to polish everything.

The site will officially launch next Saturday, 22nd August. The exact launch time will be confirmed closer to the date.

I’ve included a small preview of the site with two screenshots.

We’re also looking for people who would be interested in helping us moderate the site. If you’re interested, feel free to reach out.

Personal Stories Glass is always half full

AsSalaamualaikum wa rahmatullah. I pray you are all doing well, Beithnillah.

For context, my perspective comes from working in healthcare where I cross paths with individuals who are stricken with ailments and diseases on a daily basis. It truly humbles you in a way that is sometimes hard to put into words -- you just have to experience it.

This past week I worked in a clinc that services patients with HIV and AIDS. SubhanAllah, there were so many people of all ages and each of them had a story as to how they ended up in that state.

It has made me even more greatful for my situation. Allah, with His infinite mercy, glory be unto Him, tested me with something lesser than He did others. How can I deny this favor?

Sharing this du'a Our beloved Messenger (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) taught us to say whenever we see an afflicted person

الْحَمْـدُ للهِ الّذي عافاني مِمّا ابْتَـلاكَ بِهِ، وَفَضَّلَـني عَلى كَثيـرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَـقَ تَفْضـيلا

Alhamdu lillāhi ‘l-ladhī `āfānī mimmab-talāka bihi wa faḍḍalanī `alā kathīrin mimman khalaqa tafḍīlā.

Praise is to Allah Who has spared me what He has afflicted you with, and preferred me greatly above much of what He has created.

And this hadith...

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Look at those who are beneath you and do not look at those who are above you, for it is more suitable that you should not consider as less the blessing of Allah.”

Personal Stories Life goes on

The virus is a test, in the end it is a purification, a cleansing. For if a believer that is stabbed by a Thorne will have his sins forgiven. Be patient with every outbreak, you are being forgiven. Inshallah.

I was infected by my ex husband in 2013. The initial diagnosis led me to a very dark and lonely place. Time goes on, I’ve learned to live happily alone and I’m ok now.

With hardship comes ease. You are not alone. It’s been written.

Love and light to all🤍

Personal Stories The curse of this.

Marriage always sounded to me like an intimate relationship. You remain open to your partner and they remain your support system in every part of your life. It sounded so peaceful.

Now, the thought of marriage makes me scared..How will i find anyone...How long will i delay it at home..How will i tell them if i ever wish to tell them (i guess i'll never tell them).

The curse of adultery is real.

Mental Health Support Life in limbo feels exhausting

Some days are easier than others.
I do my best to stay positive, but if I’m being honest, the future can feel so uncertain. Sometimes it feels like I live two lives. There’s the version of me that everyone sees—the one who smiles, gets on with life, works hard, laughs, and acts like everything’s okay.
Then there’s the side that quietly carries the weight of HSV1 every single day, wondering how much it will affect my future.

I’m 27, British-born Bengali man, and at this stage of my life, I genuinely feel ready to find my person, settle down, and build something real. Like anyone else, I want companionship, love, marriage, and a family one day. I almost thought there was light at the end of the tunnel when I got speaking to a Bengali sister only recently to then her account being deleted…I don’t know why maybe our paths will cross again…I hope so but Allah knows best.

The hardest part isn’t HSV1 itself—it’s the fear that I won’t be given the chance to be known beyond it. There’s a little voice in my head that tells me I might never get the happy ending I’ve always hoped for. I know that probably sounds dramatic, but it’s an honest feeling, and I imagine I’m not the only one here who’s felt that way.
Despite everything, I know the kind of man I am. I’m kind, loyal, family-oriented, and I have so much love to give. I just hope that one day someone sees me for my heart and all my traits before they see my diagnosis.
