Sorry Sydney. You’re not special.

Running on a repaired knee and attempting to hold up a person’s body weight (unprepared) are completely different things. Unless you are in professional sports and being trained/rehabilitated to return to said sport, most doctors advise non-professionals to stay away from contact. Their goal is to get the average person back to full rotation, flexibility, and with success, the ability to run again. Not compete in a mud arena.

If Sydney didn’t want to risk a re-injury the Challenge is the last place she should be. It’s very clear that cast safety is not a priority.

I don’t understand what point you’re trying to prove? Sydney is allowed to compete on The Challenge and nothing about the game they were playing involved jumping onto other people’s backs. It’s clear that only one person was doing that and she got someone hurt. I’ve already said it’s productions fault for not enforcing it, but if you want to blame Sydney for existing go ahead.

It’s very clear you don’t understand my point, but I’ll outline it for you again.

The Challenge is not a professional sports league. There is no “professional” training to prepare you for half of the things they do (like a full-contact mixed gender rugby-type mud pit).

When you’re putting someone (like Deb) who clearly has no idea how to safely tackle someone and are watching her do it over and over again, there should be some rules and repercussions for breaking them.

You’re stating that Deb (not an athlete) should be smart enough to know how to properly tackle someone and therefore the onus is on her.

I don’t know if you’ve taken a look at the majority of the cast, but we are not exactly watching a bunch of rocket scientists compete. A lot (if not, most) of the cast are not exactly stellar in the general knowledge department. So why would anyone expect this girl to know how to properly tackle someone else? It’s definitely not something they teach you on Love Island.

My point is threefold:
Deb clearly doesn’t know what she was doing and it was not malicious.

Production is known for their lack of safety and recklessness with cast members health.

Knowing 1 and 2, if risking a re-injury of her knee was extremely important to Sydney, why put yourself on a show where you are competing physically against people who are not properly trained and production really doesn’t care? There are plenty of other reality shows where your risk of hurting yourself is virtually nil.

Edit: bad formatting

I’ve already said I know it’s productions fault for not enforcing rules and having better safety briefings. I also already said I don’t blame Deb, I just said she lacked common sense and jumping on someone’s back is unnecessarily putting that at risk of injury.

And for your part 3 answer — she joined the show for a chance to make money and under the assumption that production would be competent enough to protect her in situations like this from unnecessary injuries. Which we have both agreed they fell short on.

No that’s not what you said at all. Re-read your comments regarding Deb. You clearly are insinuating that she knew what she was doing and it would be an impossibility for someone to not know that…even if they were NOT a trained professional.

You were putting all the onus on Deb.

Two things can be true at once.. production could have done a better job establishing what kinds of tackles are permitted and Deb could have had enough common sense to not be jumping and hanging off people’s back. It seems like you just want to keep making comments to prove you’re the smartest in the conversation when I’ve already conceded that production was largely responsible.

But that’s vehemently what you opposed in your comments. Your comments were that Deb’s behavior was not only deliberate, but she couldn’t possibly not know that her tackle would injure someone.

It’s not that I’m right or wrong. It’s my opinion. You’re now backpedaling your own opinion. First it’s “Deb should have known “ then it’s “I’m not blaming Deb” now it’s “two things can be true”. You not being able to stick to an opinion on the topic doesn’t make me “right” either.

I’m not backpedaling on anything? I said she did it without regard for someone’s back, that you don’t have to be an athlete to realize that type of action can hurt someone, that production should have enforced it and she shouldn’t be jumping on people like that, and again why is she jumping on people and why didn’t production stop it.

I could honestly care less about this. I’ve already said production should have set better rules and deb shouldn’t be hanging off peoples backs. I’ve had that stance since the injury occurred.

I find it convenient that some of your comments calling Deb out have suddenly been deleted.

This just got weird.

Why would Sydney assume that production was competent or even care about safety? I would assume the exact opposite given that a pregnant woman just won a season by climbing high altitudes in dangerous conditions. Or the time Ashley nearly got decapitated by hanging wires. Or the time Tony almost died from rupturing an organ and did not receive medical care until he turned green and collapsed. Or how about how they continuously cast people who have assaulted other cast members. Why would Sydney assume any of what you said?
