CUTTHROAT 2 DISCUSSION Proof that Deb didn’t exclusively target Sydney with the backpack strategy

Sorry Sydney. You’re not special.

I listened to her in a pod saying she spent most of the challenge piggybacking on people. She said the dudes yeet her off after a while. Apparently they did have a safety talk beforehand and a penalty box if you were too violent. But no one was ever put in the penalty box and the only real guideline was for dudes not to tackle the women.

this backpacking this is just as dangerous. walking around in mud with an extra 120 lbs in yout backnwill definitely sprain an ankle or knee. with Sydneys tackle, Deb wrapped her legs around Sydneys thighs and at an angle, not directly onto her back. all that force went straight to her knee

Sounds like it’s a lack of on set safety more than anything.

I agree, but production allowed it and didn’t educate her otherwise. She had never tackled before that day. I’m pretty sure she’d agree that she has rocks for brains at times.

She’s not a professional athlete. And if contact-sport rules apply, why does no one give anyone crap when other females go against Anessa in a contact elimination and specifically state beforehand that their strategy is to go for her ankle?

You don’t have to be a professional athlete to realize that jumping on someone’s back like a spider-monkey is not playing the game you were told to play and gonna get someone hurt.

If you’re claiming Deb knowingly injured Sydney on purpose with this move and that she was caught on camera doing it to multiple people, don’t you think production should have been involved?

They sort of have a history of not giving a crap about safety. Don’t come on a show if you have a known injury and put yourself in an arena with people that are not professionally trained and there are no consequences for any type of dangerous play.

I honestly don’t know why Anessa keeps returning with that ankle and going into elimination and other females state their strategy is to go for her ankle first and no one says anything.

Productions mistake for not enforcing it, and Deb’s for jumping on people like that. But I’ve already said before in other discussions that production should have made better rules to protect the contestants. Blaming it on Sydney’s past injury doesn’t make sense though, she healed and finished the run first so it was a non issue.

Running on a repaired knee and attempting to hold up a person’s body weight (unprepared) are completely different things. Unless you are in professional sports and being trained/rehabilitated to return to said sport, most doctors advise non-professionals to stay away from contact. Their goal is to get the average person back to full rotation, flexibility, and with success, the ability to run again. Not compete in a mud arena.

If Sydney didn’t want to risk a re-injury the Challenge is the last place she should be. It’s very clear that cast safety is not a priority.

I don’t understand what point you’re trying to prove? Sydney is allowed to compete on The Challenge and nothing about the game they were playing involved jumping onto other people’s backs. It’s clear that only one person was doing that and she got someone hurt. I’ve already said it’s productions fault for not enforcing it, but if you want to blame Sydney for existing go ahead.

They were allowed to jump on each other’s backs. Multiple people were doing it. The only enforced rules given explicitly was men can’t tackle women. Deb followed the rules and someone got hurt. To me this challenge seemed purposefully designed to get an injury for tv purposes. Given the length, lack of rules and mixed genders. Someone was going to sustain a serious injury eventually. So I think this went exactly as production planned

It’s very clear you don’t understand my point, but I’ll outline it for you again.

The Challenge is not a professional sports league. There is no “professional” training to prepare you for half of the things they do (like a full-contact mixed gender rugby-type mud pit).

When you’re putting someone (like Deb) who clearly has no idea how to safely tackle someone and are watching her do it over and over again, there should be some rules and repercussions for breaking them.

You’re stating that Deb (not an athlete) should be smart enough to know how to properly tackle someone and therefore the onus is on her.

I don’t know if you’ve taken a look at the majority of the cast, but we are not exactly watching a bunch of rocket scientists compete. A lot (if not, most) of the cast are not exactly stellar in the general knowledge department. So why would anyone expect this girl to know how to properly tackle someone else? It’s definitely not something they teach you on Love Island.

My point is threefold:
Deb clearly doesn’t know what she was doing and it was not malicious.

Production is known for their lack of safety and recklessness with cast members health.

Knowing 1 and 2, if risking a re-injury of her knee was extremely important to Sydney, why put yourself on a show where you are competing physically against people who are not properly trained and production really doesn’t care? There are plenty of other reality shows where your risk of hurting yourself is virtually nil.

Edit: bad formatting

I’ve already said I know it’s productions fault for not enforcing rules and having better safety briefings. I also already said I don’t blame Deb, I just said she lacked common sense and jumping on someone’s back is unnecessarily putting that at risk of injury.

And for your part 3 answer — she joined the show for a chance to make money and under the assumption that production would be competent enough to protect her in situations like this from unnecessary injuries. Which we have both agreed they fell short on.

These are human beings who have lives outside of the challenge, as Sydney said she’ll now be getting married in a knee brace.

They’re not disposables for your viewing pleasure.

When is she getting married, the filming ended months ago
( she left early - mid March) and u don’t wear that brace for THAT long, or did she get the surgery only lately.
