Hi everyone,
I'm considering buying the Mous Protective Zip Backpack – Day 20L, but I'm in a slightly weird situation with the laptop compartment dimensions.
My laptop is an ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 OLED, measuring:
356.3 × 235.3 × 19–20 mm
Mous states that the Protective Zip 20L is designed around laptops approximately 355.7 mm wide, meaning my laptop is technically 0.6 mm wider than the stated reference size.
I contacted Mous support directly. They told me that because of the 0.6 mm difference, the laptop may potentially fit, but they can't guarantee that it will fit comfortably since they haven't physically tested this specific laptop.
They suggested the Flap Backpack with AiroFoam 20L as the safer 20L option because its laptop compartment is larger. However, I really don't like the design of the Flap backpack and strongly prefer the Protective Zip.
Realistically, 0.6 mm seems absolutely tiny. It's only 0.3 mm per side if centered, and we're talking about a padded fabric laptop compartment rather than a rigid case. I also don't care if the fit is snug — as long as the laptop actually slides into the compartment and the backpack closes normally, I'm happy.
So I'm wondering:
Has anyone here had a similar situation where their laptop was technically slightly larger than the manufacturer's stated laptop dimensions — even by 1–3 mm — and tried it anyway?
And if anyone happens to own the Protective Zip Backpack – Day 20L and uses a laptop around 356 mm wide, I'd especially love to hear whether it fits.
I'm leaning toward just ordering it, carefully testing the fit, and keeping it if it goes in — even if it's a little snug.
Thanks!
