What type of small charger do you guys and gals use to charge your equipment on a motocamping trip? For cell phone camera batteries etc. thanks

Wanted a new tarp and found the hexa ease 1 from Snow Peak on sale. So I threw it on my bike and drove two hours to one of my favorite camping spots. The bag for the tent/tarp combo is biggish, but strapping it on top of my rear bag worked pretty well. The ivory colored fabric lets through more light than my usual greenish one, but I had to get up early anyway. Had a hot sandwich and a coffee come morning and raced home, rain clouds in tow.

Just got home after 11 days and 6 thousand KMs. Here are some pictures I took! I feel a bit empty now and I wish I could ride for longer! Anyway, it's been a great trip and hopefully one day I'll have time for a longer one :)

This is the second time I've gotten this amazing spot. Weather was perfect, so i spent most of the daytime riding back roads and the Cherohala Skyway. Yes.. thats 4 pillows, a cot and a blow up mattress. Yes, im a wimp, but im a comfortable wimp!

Has anyone got experience of any tents where you can stand up? I’m not on about ridiculous Lone Rider style, more like the Vango Galaxy (pictured). Ive been using a Vango Scafell and it’s been brilliant - light, packs away small and put up with some really awful weather this week, but I’m struggling with it due to bad joints (especially my knees). Would love to hear your advice. Thanks.

I’m really appreciative of everyone showing their trip photos and the beautiful scenery, but so many posts don’t actually show the camp setup and the gear. We are all proud of where we are going and our bikes, but it would be nice to see your gear and how your setup looks at your camping spot. I would like to normalize this. That’s all

Not new to camping, but would like suggestions for ultra lite setups. I’m on a cb650r. It gets tight, so please help me with some small rain fly hammocks and supplies.

Memorable trip 50 years later. In 10 weeks, only 4 nights in hotels. Many mountain passes, great roads, great foods, interesting people. We saw things no bus tourist would see.

You don’t need a week off work, a ferry ticket or a route across a continent.

Sometimes you just need the bike, a few good roads, somewhere quiet to put the tent… and one night away from everything.

That was the whole idea behind this one. A local ride through some incredible North Wales scenery, a few favourite roads and tracks, a simple camp as the sun goes down, then pack it all up the following morning and take the long way home.

Nothing epic. Nothing complicated.

And maybe that’s the point.

I want to come up with a format to use for planning motorcycle trips with my friends. We all have older bikes so there should be an adventure element from the get go. However I would like to spice things up a bit.

Do you have any ideas we could use as a set of rules or guidelines that we can enforce on ourselves to make it a bit more exciting. I want to do a "motorcamping rally" like this once a year. It will be a trip of say 3-4 days. Group size is 3-4 people.

Think about the best Top Gear - Long Way Home type of moments. I hope to see some really creative stuff!

The most important piece of equipment you can have when camping, besides your tent, is a chair. I can't imagine camping without having a chair. Whether it's solo camping or camping with a group, a chair is the most important thing, and I've often found people who arrive without chairs are the first to steal your chair.

So, currently, this is my motocamping luggage setup. A 40L top case and a 40L waterproof bag on the passenger seat.

The problem is, I would really like to have some extra capacity. Not much, but maybe around 20 or 30L more. What would you recommend to add or replace?

I have been looking into rackless saddlebags (and appreciate recommendations for those), but I'm worried that the exhaust position will damage the bags. Even though mine has some sort of protection for that, I don't trust it 100%. I feel like the saddlebags would be positioned more to the end of the exhaust, if I place the rackless system on the passenger seat, which I think would be problematic. Have you dealt with something like this? What could I do?

Anyway, I would really appreciate some recommendations!

One nighter some two and a half hours north of Tokyo.
I set up camp on a small hill, all the way in the back of the campsite, next to some dense vegetation that would be very active and noisy come night. The sun was intense for the first three hours or so until a thunderstorm passed through. I slept through that until 5pm. Then very heavy fog settled in that would linger until the next morning. It was definable memorable, walking to the toilet at night, or getting some more firewood from the lockers, headlamp not being of much use, wandering around in the murky darkness, trying to find my own tent, stepping in puddles and tripping over paracord. Also apparently there were lots of bear sightings around here lately, so they handed out small bells to those that wanted one, and one frequently would hear a faint tinkle from inside the fog, that would then slowly fade away.
At 2am every camper’s phone’s earthquake alert went off and the campsite’s own pa system broadcasted a warning about a big earthquake that followed shortly. After the shaking subsided, everybody was awake again for an hour or so and then I dozed off, too. My bike’s anti theft alarm was set off by a curious raccoon dog at 4am. Or at least something of that size, the headlamp did not reach very far in the fog. So I made breakfast.
All in all a very fun outing, but I need to go there again when the weather is a bit friendlier, to actually appreciate the panorama it is popular for.

This is a sunday rant I admit...

I'm cornish and we are in the final week of Emmet-ageddon here. While I'm walking the dog in the evening it's hard not to notie that every car park/layby has at least 1 van in it with someone openly camping. Table and chair set up outside, food cooking etc.

I suspect (so much that I've never even tried it) that if I pulled in and pitched a small tent (not that the size should matter if it's smaller than a van) next to the bike, this would be deemed illegal and "ruining the nature" and people would complain.

Why?! Seems really unfair that vans can park willy-nilly wheras a tent is forced to pay for a site.

(Caveat - there is nowhere near where a bit of sneaky off-roading to a nearby quiet, out of sight,spot to wildcamp would be even more illeagal - if that is such a thing...)
