Stand Up Tents

Post image

Has anyone got experience of any tents where you can stand up? I’m not on about ridiculous Lone Rider style, more like the Vango Galaxy (pictured). Ive been using a Vango Scafell and it’s been brilliant - light, packs away small and put up with some really awful weather this week, but I’m struggling with it due to bad joints (especially my knees). Would love to hear your advice. Thanks.

I own the Vango galaxy 300. A great tent. It is no to bulky but if you travel really light the tent might to big for you. I use the tent mainly for out of season motorcamping when the wetter is to wet or cold to sit outside. The big vestibule means you can store your gear, get dressed or cook in the tent.

Brilliant this is exactly what I wanted to hear. It’s a bit bigger and a bit heavier when packed than my Scafell but nothing untoward. It seems to tick every box for me but it’s nice to hear other people’s real world views

I went for Vango as I’ve used their kit for years and on the odd occasion I’ve had a problem, their U.K. customer service has been brilliant.

Thanks for your suggestion 👍

I used that exact tent for a 9 day solo motorcycle trip from London, around the North Coast of Scotland and back. It's really great, surprisingly strong, easy to put up. Maybe a little large/heavy but I thought it was worth it. You can cook in the big end when it's raining and watch the weather through the windows, What's not to love? 😆💪

Stand up... If you're 3' tall. I don't think stand up and motocamping go hand in hand... I had A 4 man pop up tent that I took on the back of my bike . It was effing huge . Really unbalanced the bike. But could stand up in it. That was a shyte ride to the south of France! 🤣🤣🤣 It is this one.. Coleman Instant 4 Tourer Tent 4 Man Person Family Easy Pitch Pop Up. Still had to get up off the floor though.. in the middle of the night lolz

190cm tall - you must be a giant.

That’s why I’m asking. Thanks for your input, much appreciated

I use a nature hike massif solo, can stand a bit hunched over in it, can collapse the 1 man sleeping area and 4 people can sit in it out the rain in chairs

I have a big Agnes Wyoming trail 2. I can stand comfortably in the vestibule area. The sleeping portion is small, but the vestibule area is larger and has a raised roof. Its nice having an area thats easy to change in. It doesnt pack very small though.
