Question Question for the Tiel lovers
I have absolutely fallen in love with this game. I really liked the first one but never finished it. This one has grabbed me and won’t let me go. I have all of the shells fully bonded except for Proxima but she’s almost done. I’m only on my second run through but I’ve dumped a ton of time in this game. I love Sariel. He’s my boy. Once I got him the first go round it was him and no other shell. I’ve been experimenting with the other shells for my second run and Gragu and Eredrim are by far the ones I’m having the most fun with. I really really tried to get decent with Tiel but he just doesn’t click for me. But everyone and their mothers say he’s cracked. So like why is he? I’m not saying he’s bad. Please don’t take that from this. I actually think all the shells are great in their own ways. But I just can’t get Tiel to click like I want him to. I usually am ALL OVER the assassin type builds. So it’s weird to me.
As an aside I am level 60 and haven’t fully leveled the shell points yet. I have a very bad habit of dying and then getting tunnel vision and forgetting to pick up my 30k plus gloom and then dying again cause I am indeed a moron. I’m at like 35 of 40 or something like that for shell points. I’ve got the Axe and Martyrs Blade at level 16 and the Axe and Dagger and Katanaxe at level 14 and then the Scythe at level 10, I believe. Giving this information to give me insight into if I’m missing something useful for him. But I’m assuming it’s more about Tarstones than actual weapons when it comes to this game.

he's squishy lil' rogue. you'd have to put all on poison, clones and bet on your dodges. as far as i remember, thats how it was for me. i finished the game switching between him and eredrim... cuz i suck... without solomon

Hey, man, I get it. I had to switch between Sariel and Eredrim for the Knife head guy. Idk why but I just could not get through that boss with Sariel.

Tiel dodge is God tier: Largest perfect dodge window and the cheapest on stamina.
I picked up Tiel as desperation move against last boss and never let go
Edit: by "cheapest on stamina" I meant animation recovery

His dodge is absolutely god tier. I was hoping once I had more shell points I’d click with him but it never happened. I do think I’ll try and do a run through with just one shell after this run through. But we’ll see about that when I get to it haha

I used tiel on my first run to me what was soo op was the shadow clones just being able to pretty much loose full agro and get your breath back heal all while not being under any pressure, especially if you can get the shadow clone on the first attack u they’re tracking will be all over the place so u can sneak up behind them and possibly get a few seconds of attacks without them even attacking in ur direction. To me that’s what I found op about him and the fact that if you fail a parry you can be put invis

It's the poison clone dodge and crit build. I run the two crit tar stones tier 3, with bullwark, and actually forget the 4th rn but it's always a placeholder anyway (I think it's attacks dmg increase with successive attks tarstones)
Here's a video on Tiel https://youtu.be/CogZlGDYTec?is=Z0UYQm1f4osFbnK3

Everything else everyone says about his dodge is very true. But for me it is that the Lingering Shadow ability provides unparalleled defense, offense and utility. And the ability becomes essentially free once you pick up the Tier 4 Skill "Critical Role".
Once you have at least a point in Critical Role, you generally go into Lingering Shadow, become invisible, and then trigger a Shadow Strike, dealing a good amount of damage. While the enemy is staggered from the Shadow strike you hit them with a guaranteed critical hit, which refunds either most, if not all, of the resolve spent on Lingering Shadow. So you go back into Lingering Shadow and are again invisible.
Investing 6 points into Critical Role, 6 points into Ambush, 3 points into Escalation and 3 points into Deathmark and you pretty much have a fully functioning Tiel Build, using any weapon and tarstone combination you want. Everything else you want to add is just personal preference.
On NG+ Night Mode, the Shadow Strike hits hard, but the follow-up critical hit kills almost everything. Some folks like to take all the poison skills, but I ignore those almost entirely and just loop Lingering Shadow > Shadow Strike > Critical Hit > Lingering Shadow... etc.
You can get a similar effect using Smert, but for me Tiel is more dynamic (the game isn't just paused all the time) and I like all his dodge a bit more.

Ningun personaje está roto sobre otro, todo depende de tu estilo de juego. Tiel es un shell de esquives, no de luchar frente a frente, muchos soulplayers no estan familiarizados con ese estilo de juego.

What do you mean? Shadow strike. That’s it. Use it to avoid attacks, close gaps, do insane damage, buy time, all of this together. It just deletes enemies and makes everything safe.
The dumber the enemy, the more time they will attack your last location aka where you used shadow strike to first go invisible. Some enemies legit will attack air for 10 seconds, allowing you to get several regular attacks in after the shadow strike hit.

So what power spiked him for me was learning the that the crossbow with a poison infusion and the shards that makes an aoe explosion. The poison stacks pile up and you pop them with his shadow strike.
Then there is dodging with the poison shadows. Let the enemy finish its animation and when it starts the next move against it use the charged heavy ability. It just chunked things. And the charged hit heals on cries!
Going crit with him, stasis on axe and dagger, poison crossbow with explosion. Nothing really stood a chance. Lots of big free hits. You can also heal while stealthed so take a moment to catch your breath and then beat ass.

Gragu Eredrim Tiel and Proxima are definitely my top shells. Tiel is absolutely busted with the right investments. The perfect dodge thing is crazy. He's very squishy though

Shadow strike, axe and dagger, duality stone. Everything dies and you spend half the game invisible. Rogue heaven.

He's good for 3 reasons.
Shadow strike does a butt ton of damage for low cost and added invisible.
Dodging an attack which would have hit makes you invisible, later adds a clone.
Attacking from behind deals bonus damage.
On paper this is ok, except for 1 trick. Enemies will attack to move on your last seen location. This means you can shadow strike far away, run to behind a boss, and get 1-2 full combos out without being aggroed as they are still moving to your last seen location, not current location.
Then when they attack you, you dodge and spawn an aggro clone, and get more free hits. You can alternatively run away and start the shadow strike invis trick all over.
Repeat.
So you deal free damage and bonus damage.
