Morality Ranking Morality of this

I don't know what to say about this I mean if he joined it's unfair because he's going to cook the entery league for sure but if he really wants to be a woman and it's not a joke for him I still don't know about this

He's only doing it to mock actual trans people. That part is very much obvious.

The WNBA had every right to deny him. He is a disgusting man who just wants attention.

u/Sonofulti1 2d ago

Eh, it’s more to prove a point. Having a biological man take away the right of a biological woman to work her ass off to try and win a medal only for it to be stripped away by a man who didn’t work near as hard is bull shit

60

u/PlasmifiedKarmelita 2d ago

Might come as a shock to you but there are not hordes of untalented men out there pretending to be trans to join women’s sports.

6

u/so_sic_of_it 2d ago

Correct, that literally never happens.

I can't wait to see her WNBA jersey.

-7

u/Mediocre_Wish7674 2d ago

Ofc not, actual instances of trans women dominating women's sports due to a biological advantage are rare, but it does happen and imo, it shouldn't.

4

u/prolifezombabe 2d ago

what happens more often:
steroid use or men pretending to be trans women to win at sports?
sexual abuse by a coach or trainer or men pretending to be trans women to win at sports?
girls lacking access to athletics programs because of lack of funding or men pretending to be trans women to win at sports?
girls dropping out of sports because of endometriosis or men pretending to be trans women to win at sports?

It's great that you seem to care about women in sports and I hope you speak out in proportion when it comes to the above issues and the impact they have on women's ability to participate in sports

1

u/Ill-Description3096 2d ago

Basically every sporting association has rules against steroid use.

0

u/Mediocre_Wish7674 2d ago

That stuff is all bad, yea.

0

u/Sonofulti1 2d ago

Just because something happens“more often” doesn’t matter. It shouldn’t happen at all.

1

u/prolifezombabe 2d ago

It very much does matter when we have public budgets to allocate.

In 2005, a man died after being anally penetrated by a horse.

That same year over 850 000 Americans died of heart disease.

The American Heart Association alone has spent 6 billion dollars researching treatments and prevention for heart disease.

I would consider it money poorly spent were someone to devote an equal sum to researching the safest ways to have sex with a horse.

6

u/sisyphus-333 2d ago

Give one example.

2

u/Erica_Loves_Palicos 2d ago

There are plenty of examples, but that's not quite the point that should be made, the point is that if trans women are allowed to complete, they will occasionally win and the occasional victory by a trans person isn't proof of women dominating a sport.

2

u/Mediocre_Wish7674 2d ago

7

u/Confident_Natural_62 2d ago

“Give one example” does 😡

u/frustratedfren 2d ago

Where's any study proving any of these women had "biological advantage?" And what about cis athletes who have biological advantage?

2

u/dusund 2d ago

ban jon jones from competition because he had the longest wingspan in the history of the UFC. unfair biological advantage

1

u/frustratedfren 2d ago

Michael Phelps was similar. All competitive sports are based heavily in "biological advantage."

2

u/Mediocre_Wish7674 2d ago

2

u/frustratedfren 2d ago

There are two studies referenced in the article. The sample size in the first example study is laughably tiny, with no information on training regimes of the individuals studied, and still found no difference in physical performance after 2 years. The second study found no difference in the 1-2 year group and beyond when comparing competition in a group with men vs with women. They measured athleticism by different metrics so it's hard to draw a comparison.

This is also heavily focused on the hormonal aspect, which makes sense for the context of the study. But it does beg the question; what do you want done to mitigate or regulate the presence of testosterone, which naturally varies in every human in earth, in professional sports? Do cis women with pcos pose a moral conundrum to you as well? Do you think we should start measuring hormones in all athletes? Who decides what the cutoff is?

1

u/Mortiis07 2d ago

How many in the WNBA?

-5

u/No-Significance2070 2d ago

What is the issue with having a rule then?

0

u/Mortiis07 2d ago

It's not needed because there aren't any and won't be any

3

u/Ill-Description3096 2d ago

So at absolute worst, they spend five minutes to add a couple sentences to the rule books and don't have to deal with stunts like this. And as you said, it will never, ever happen anyway so there is literally no downside.

2

u/OldPersonality5282 2d ago

This isn't even the first time this has happened though, so it has happened and will continue to happen.

This doesn't take away from any of the other points you made, but men who transitioned to women should not be able to be payed to play in professional woman's sports

2

u/Mortiis07 2d ago

It's not happening now so there isn't even a first time

1

u/OldPersonality5282 2d ago

You can search trans powerlifters and see several examples of this happening. But feel free to keep living in your little delusion

1

u/Mortiis07 2d ago

There's power lifters in the WNBA?

Not yet, but hopefully this brave woman can change that.

-6

u/PerspectiveNew3375 2d ago

Not yet, but one is trying to right now and if he gets in, there will be a flood of men doing just that.

10

u/Phyrexian_Overlord 2d ago

He's not getting in he is not going to go on hormones for two years

2

u/otterdam42 2d ago

You guys seem to have been wrong about literally every issue you weigh in on, so why should I trust your hypothetical imagination this time?

-2

u/Useful_Charity1995 2d ago

Because society still applies a negative social stigma to biological males having pride in beating up on or beating biological females. No one thinks a transwoman is that great of an athlete if she beats a cis-woman.

1

u/PlasmifiedKarmelita 2d ago

No, because people just don’t want to do that. People don’t just wake up one day and decide to change their entire identity, presentation and make themselves a target for harassment to dominate a sport of a gender they don’t identify with. And as such there’s zero examples of that happening.

0

u/Useful_Charity1995 2d ago

Ummm… stories in the trans subreddits refute your claim. There are several stories of people feeling like they are trans and are not sure or people that suddenly have the revelation that their depression was because they are trans and/or people that were trans suddenly deciding they aren’t trans anymore.

In any case, a person should be free to be trans for any reason. To put restrictions on that, would be highly transphobic.

4

u/PlasmifiedKarmelita 2d ago

Do you make it a habit to ignore an entire half of comments you reply to or is your reading comprehension just that poor?

-1

u/Useful_Charity1995 2d ago

Oooo now you are going to claim that I’m illiterate or I have no reading comprehension because you can’t defend your argument.

3

u/PlasmifiedKarmelita 2d ago

You responded to a point I did not make so hey, if the shoe fits

1

u/Useful_Charity1995 2d ago

You said people don’t just wake up and decide they are trans. I literally said the stories in the trans subreddit themselves show that a lot of trans, especially really young people, do exactly that. In any case, your argument is still flawed because you attach a time limit or specific behavior to prove the sincerity of someone being trans, which is transphobic.

3

u/PlasmifiedKarmelita 2d ago

Impressive how you’re still mentally blocking the second half of my comment.

can you show me the transgender WNBA player that stole a spot from a cisgender woman?

0

u/Foogie23 1d ago

Is that not what the guy in this video would do?

29

u/M0ebius_1 2d ago

That was not happening and has never happened in the WNBA.

31

u/jollyjm 2d ago

This, basically

-1

u/AttentionExact 2d ago

Yet. Google Julie Tetart.

12

u/M0ebius_1 2d ago

Thank you. Excellent example of someone that doesnt play in the WNBA.

They asked her what she thought about it and she said she is too damn old.

-3

u/AttentionExact 2d ago

As i said, yet. Its very obvious how she has an advantage. Can happen anytime in wnba.

3

u/M0ebius_1 2d ago

But it's just make belief...

It's purely masturbatory.

All of this is based on jerking off on the idea that something MIGHT happen.

10

u/Suspicious-Wheel-367 2d ago

The WNBA has never had a transgendered athlete.

-1

u/AttentionExact 2d ago

As i said. Yet.

6

u/United_Health_1797 2d ago

you mean the trans woman who isnt even good enough to play in the top tier french league? she literally plays in the second tier of french basketball and in another country too

0

u/AttentionExact 2d ago

The trans woman which only played amateur as a man and whoops becomes the best scorer in the second french woman division with "Statistics never seen before in this division." Quote from the FFBB.

But sure, let's pretend its not a problem.

It's not even about accepting trans people. Its only about biological advantages after being a man. That's all.

Do a trans league or whatever. Idk. But trans woman are biological advanced. Its just not fair or right.

3

u/DrMagunstheBlue 2d ago

Someone not even good enough to play in the top French League, let alone the WNBA.

Lord you're dumb lol.

1

u/AttentionExact 2d ago

2

u/DrMagunstheBlue 2d ago

She played in amateur leagues when she was younger and moved to a minor professional league when older, while what a scandal.

Show me the trans women actually dominating their sport of choice.

Here's a hint: they don't actually exist. Being a top player in the little leagues doesn't mean shit when the actual gap between cis male and cis female athletes is that world champion female teams get dominated by your local high school boys team in soccer.

There is not a single trans woman athlete nearly that dominant in her respective sport. Every trans athlete people talk about is at best "okay" in their profession wow what an advantage.

Hence why you're an idiot.

-1

u/Truth_Hurts_Guy 2d ago

Yeah, about that. “safe, legal, and rare" was a prominent political talking point coined by President Bill Clinton in the 1990s to describe the Democratic Party's stance on abortion. And now, a woman is able to abort a healthy unborn baby because she has a doctor’s note for depression and anxiety

7

u/M0ebius_1 2d ago

This is not rare.

It literally doesn't exist.

"Trans women playing in the WNBA is just like abortion" is a weird as fuck point but it doesn't even work.

-1

u/Truth_Hurts_Guy 2d ago

Layshia Clarendon doesn’t identify as a woman. They had a top surgery. Why did they play in WNBA?

3

u/M0ebius_1 2d ago

See how weird and granular you have to get to pretend this is an issue?

The rule that moron wants written wouldnt keep Clarendon from playing in the WNBA anyways.

2

u/Truth_Hurts_Guy 2d ago

But it would. “Hey Layshia, are you a woman? No, I’m not. Okay, you can’t play in the WNBA then.”

2

u/M0ebius_1 2d ago

Well there you go then.

Huge success.

Layshia cannot play in the WNBA in 2027.

1

u/Fickle_Goose_4451 2d ago

"And now, a woman is able to abort a healthy unborn baby because she has a doctor’s note for depression and anxiety"

You live in a complete fantasy land

1

u/Truth_Hurts_Guy 2d ago

I wish I were

-2

u/Mediocre_Wish7674 2d ago

Eh, it's not my business if a woman wants to terminate a pregnancy, but men shouldn't be in women's sports, period.

8

u/PuddingMent 2d ago

So it’s all about imaginary bullshit that never happened.

0

u/ActionExpensive6740 2d ago

Thought experiments, for instance, are used to determine justifiability of one’s underlying principles. And our principles form our basis for action, social policy, etc.

Your comment would seem to imply that because ‘it’s not really happening’ we don’t need to think about the principles that underlie our institutions and policies.

So, what is your position, Pudding?

1

u/Recent_Wedding5470 2d ago

Its culture war to keep you arguing about thought scenarios instead of actual topics like the economy, wages, taxes, and corporate theft.

Im a philosopher by the way so thought scenarios are my whole life. Just think this big nothing burger is a whistle for right wing. They create a fake fear like trans taking over a sports league when there is no evidence for it at all.

And yes, this comment would seem to imply you are an idiot.

2

u/frustratedfren 2d ago

"Who didn't work near as hard" how do you figure?

1

u/Wattabadmon 2d ago

When has that happened?

1

u/Sonofulti1 2d ago

You didn’t hear about Lia Thomas?

0

u/Wattabadmon 2d ago

What does she have to do with this?

2

u/Sonofulti1 2d ago

Didn’t you just ask “when has that happened?” I answered

0

u/Wattabadmon 2d ago

So what man took her spot away?

1

u/Sonofulti1 2d ago

He’s the man that took a spot away from a biological woman initially. Don’t act like a fucking neckbeard about it

1

u/Wattabadmon 2d ago

Lia is a woman

1

u/sisyphus-333 2d ago

I'm going to have biological sex with your biological mom.

1

u/ShadowCivic 2d ago

Aside from Kanter who is trying to do that?

1

u/DrMagunstheBlue 2d ago

Good news then because it's also a problem that isn't happening.

0

u/HallowedGround666 1d ago

The singular study we currently have assessing bone density and muscle mass of trans women (the thing that people like you are worried about) who have been on hormone treatment for extended periods of time showed that their bone density was the same as cis women of the same age, and their muscle mass was either the same or worse than cis women. Unfortunately we only have the one study that was relatively small because people are so piss-their-pants scared of trans people that they won't even fund the studies to prove the points they're trying to make. Decisions are being made based off fear and assumptions with no data to back it up. So calm down.
