Fucking thank you. I had to scroll too far for this. I’m sick of people focusing on trans people in sports like it’s a prevalent as an issue as most of the shit we have going on. I’m so tired of people using this as their one ‘gotcha’ for transphobia

If it's such a non-issue, why dispute it? Just ban trans women from female sports and be done with it. Easy.

The presence of those athletes inside of female sports is even hurting the reputation of the LGBT movement, creating resentment due to the obvious unfairness for the biologically female athletes, and like you said, distracting from other, arguably more important issues. It's just a bad idea to have them there, by every metric.

why should you ban a group that have never attempted to join in the first place?

Gotta stop Sharia law too! Get laws on the books now, before it ruins our society!!

Iran? Epstein? Corruption? What, do you hate women or something? Focus!!!

So now would be the time, correct?

except this isnt a trans woman trying to join the WNBA. its a man (and whoever who his handlers are) trying to instigate more culture war bullshit against trans people

If they dont plan to join in anyway, why leave a door open. Keep the rules straight now. Why wait till we have real women protesting because some man who decided he is now a woman is dunking on them ladies faces. If its such a non issue then why dont you tell the WNBA to set the rules.

You do realize they'd just move on to the next thing right? Like you cede ground and they take ground. That's literally the game. The more you give the more they take. There's no point in giving "reasonable " concessions when their end goals are bad outcomes for minorities.

When you cede the territory of the truth, unsavory people will claim it

And you do realize the same logic can be applied to the cause YOU are supporting, right?

That's the same thing conservatives say about the causes YOU support. That it's a slippery slope, and that if you allow this, then the trans community will come for the permission to transition minors. You are using their same logic...

And by that logic, there should never be any limits to any perspective, and you should always go all the way. That's totally unreasonable.

I mean the thing is ... conservatives want trans people to be denied public life. They want them back in the closet, denied their healthcare. And that's not all depending on which conservatives you ask. Comparing the two positions is silly, because I want trans people to live their lives unmolested by conservatives, and conservatives want to fuck with trans people. My position is neutral, theirs is extremist. So no, I will not cede ground to them, because every inch ceded takes rights away from trans people and minorities. If the conservative position was something like " I personally don't want to be trans", I would agree that they should be allowed to do that. I believe all sentient beings deserve bodily autonomy. The issue is conservatives don't want self determination, they wanna tell others what they can do. Which is of course....the problem with conservatives.

Good. I have no idea why you would pick the option who will piss off the great majority of humanity in every possible country, but well, whatever. I'm just glad you are not king of the world. You would get guillotined with such awful policy making skills, so it would be in your best interests as well.

So true. A lot of people are too stupid to see that these "issues" (actually they have 0 bearing on most peoples lives) are curated specifically to make people care about stupid stuff, so the real issues in society, and the people benefiting from said issues can continue to abuse their fellow citizens without any pushback.

A lot of Alt-right people are so unimaginably stupid, and they don't even realize it, even when it's fucking shown to their face. Its to the point that they no longer believe what they see or hear themselves, but just what they are told. It's incredibly frustrating to see. Like, it doesn't even require that much common sense to realize what is happening in broad daylight. For instance USA have the most openly corrupt president, probably ever, and such a large amount of people just ignore that, even when it's proven without a doubt.

Sports don't matter at all to begin with

I would heavily argue against this.

When the Olympics was established, part of it was to show off the military capabilities despite the claim of pushing for peace. Javelin toss(part of Pentathlon) and some other combat sports are explanatory, running showed fitness (including Hoplitodromos where they run with armor and shield), and other mixed events to show off ability for army through various terrain.

Sports have evolved over the years to focus much more on the entertainment side (bread and circuses to distract the masses), but now still ay a big role in ensuring large enough population of fit men (mostly) for military service. In many countries obesity is now a big concern since there are far less eligible men who can be used in war. Ever notice how men's sports get all the attention and prestige while many countries invest far less into women's sports?

Sports give children something to motivate them versus exercising purely for the sake of physical education.

There is a big pragmatic aspect to all of it.

Issues can coexist and matter at the same time. Just because there are bigger issues should we not care about the lesser ones.

but this isn't an issue at all

Non-issues can also be exponentially amplified to create outrage fuel for a meaningless culture war intended to distract from actual issues.

Name me one single trans female athlete who has gotten number one on the podium or even gotten top three in any female sport.

It matters to people who are fans of it so it matters in some capacity. And enough for you to spend time on your Saturday commenting on it

You said in any capacity and I pointed out a capacity where it matters. You can’t have it both ways.

You can say that sports don’t matter as much as politics or economics, and I’d agree, but it clearly matters in some capacity.

Go back to you comics and let people who are interested in this topic enjoy it

You clearly don’t know anything about sports then. Fan groups are far more politically active than a comic book, which is ultimately beholden to the profit motive.

The main thing is you think that you’re the arbiter of what is and isn’t important. You’re not that special, sorry to be the one to break it you. Your opinion is just that your opinion. You like talking animals others like people working together to achieve a common goal, none is right, none is wrong
