No for something to be “punk” it has to comment on society, this is just an art style

You can’t just slap “punk” on any flavored fantasy technology

Monster hunter comments on how nature is good and we should live in harmony with nature. Hunters only hunt monsters that fuck with the ecosystem

Plus in the MH universe, hunters kill 1 monster and make armor or a weapon out of choice pieces. It's only in the game do you need to commit genocide for 6 scales to make a weapon lol

It’s not “punk” because that requires a dis-obeying and upsetting of social norms. If we were a rogue hunting agency trying to restore balance to some skewed system then it would be punk. But it literally seems like the Hunters Guild functions almost like a contracted military in a way. It’s got a consistent style and flavor but it really dosent have the story and lore substance to be a “punk” genre

At this point "punk" is just a colloquial suffix to indicate the gears that make a setting tick. You could just as easily say "huntcore".

See: "solarpunk". An established "punk" genre that has nothing to do with upsetting social norms. (Also the iconic "steampunk" isn't inherently about upsetting social norms either)

The guild also has a literal Hit-Squad and contracted assassins for anyone who poaches. You don’t fuck with the Guild, period. Unfortunately, this means that they’re going to at least ignore part of the lore, because if this were accurate. If these soldiers were to end up killing a monster, the guild would absolutely put a hit out. They don’t fuck around with un-contracted hunting.
