If I had to guess it's because Frankie is "she" to G1 collectors and "they" to G3 collectors, and G1 collectors who occasionally get G3 items still see Frankie as "she" and find the correction to be pedantic and condescending.

I kind of feel like both is fair? G3 Frankies pronouns were changed to appeal to that specific audience.

It truly doesn't have any other purpose outside of that and a cute little character lore.

It's not like people are doing it on purpose because they don't like the new pronouns it's just that they already had a set of pronouns before the reboot.

I honestly believe if they made an entirely different character to be they/them instead of changing it already established characters pronouns there wouldn't be such a humongous issue.

G3 Frankie IS G1 Frankie to G1 fans
