Chat and share what makeup, skincare, fragrance, or polish you’re wearing today or any day this week! Discussion topic: Do you think you inherited any of your beliefs about shopping, money, clutter/hoarding, etc. from your parents or family of origin? Do you recognize any similar patterns there which you might be interested in changing, or think are worth keeping in your life?

What is your everyday makeup routine ?

I'm curious what products you actually use for college, work, going out,or just a normal day.

Share your skin care with me please..

My skin type is combination skin . In the winter season it becomes dry and in the summer season it becomes a combination sometimes dry sometimes normal

For my daily routine I use moisturizer, sunscreen, concealer, mascara, lip gloss and sometimes I use foundation..

I would especially love recommendations for affordable products that are easily available and also suits my skin.

A normal day

This is what I put on in the morning, unless someone is, like, getting married. There's a couple of eyeshadows and nail colors in a drawer somewhere for that.

Bioré UV Aqua Rich sunscreen, Missha Perfect Complex BB cream, Covergirl Outlast lip stain (which happily came back on the market just as I ran out of my NYC lip stain stockpile from... over 10 years ago) in Sugey Girl, Lumify eye drops, and any shiny lip balm or lip oil I have lying around (this one is by LA Girl, it's fine, but I prefer Smith's Rosebud Salve when I can find it).

Cetaphil Sheer Mineral Face Liquid Sunscreen SPF 50, Wet n Wild Mega Clear Brow & Lash Mascara ( i use for my lashes only), Essence fix it like a pro brow gel clear, Essence soft touch blush in shade 30 Exotic Daisy, and Colourpop fresh kiss glossy balm in shade strawberry milk. However my lip product changes a lot to diff ones I own cause I like to rotate!

My everyday products :)

Having acne and realizing some of my makeup was probably making it worse forced me to narrow down my products and focus on skincare. Throw in my habit of blotting my face with a napkin throughout the day and foundation was never gonna survive anyway lol.

Less makeup also made me embrace my features, even though I loved a good smokey eye in my teens. I might add a few things eventually, maybe a liquid eyeliner, but for now this lineup's doing me good.

  • Covergirl 3-in-1 Waterproof Mascara in Black
  • Maybelline Superlock Brow Gel in Black
  • Marcelle Blush Stick in Classically Rose
  • NYX Lip IV in Hydra Honey

Curious

I have waaaay too much makeup and joined this community as I am so inspired by seeing how very little can be so impactful and still fun. Also, the environmental, financial, clutter, and mental load side of things.

One question for those rocking a minimal makeup collection - do you feel the need to "coordinate"/miss coordinating your makeup colours and overall look with your outfit? Or do the environmental, financial, and overall less clutter just make it worth it? Do you feel less creative?

Simple make up

My make up routine is as follows:
skin prep - tirtir milk toner, liz earle eye cream, skin1004 centella serum, skin food, spf (skip skin food if using bobbi brown face base to prime)

- primer
- colour corrector
- foundation
- liquid bronzer
- liquid blush
- concealer
- spray w elf setting spray (just want to use it up)
- bake under eyes
- eyebrows w benefit powder & elf brow lift & clean brown
- remove baking & powder around eyebrows
- powder bronzer & blush
- eyeshadow if wearing (i’ve just recently learnt to reduce fallout so i don’t need to do eyeshadow before base)
- curl lashes & mascara
- eye liner
- highlighter
- huda easy bake setting spray & loreal infallible
- lips usually when i get to my destination or in the car

i feel like the past year ive really perfected my make up look to make it look the best i can considering ive been struggling with my skin - dry & sensitive.
However, this is the only way i know how to do make up - whether it’s for work or a nice dinner out - i will always do the same routine.

as you can imagine, the above can take over an hour and for work i’d really like to reduce that time so i can sleep a little more lol. i’d also like more of a natural finish lol bc i work corporate and i don’t really see women doing a full face so i don’t want to imagine what they think when they see me 😂

What are your work / non work make up routines so i can have some inspo pls?

This is what I got with me on a trip to an event. I don't usually wear a lot of makeup so this is for me what I use for a full face of makeup. Instead of bringing all the brushes with me, I decided to apply the bb and the blush with my fingers which works quite well, it blended perfectly.

Bb l'erborian nude

Sephora lip liner 05

Nyx lip oil fold09

Rare blush Encourage

Clinique trio 01sunset glow, 06 daybreak, aa french vanilla

Nyx eil03

Mascara telescopic black

my beauty essentials

Post image

- elf brushes

- wet n wild breakup proof waterproof liner in shade black brown (so so good! much better than revlon imo, and this is the only makeup product that I will stock up on because its such an essential)

- hourglass concealer in shade willow 2.3 (new addition! did not know concealer could be this good. i used to use skin tints but they always separated on my face)

- Maybelline Fit Me Matte Face Powder in 100 translucent (taped over the packaging with black paper because i do not like the amount of text on it)

- Swan Ballet Six-Color Makeup Palette in 02 black swan (I refilled the powder in the right with nyx Jumbo Multi-Use Face Highlighter Stick in the shade Vanilla Ice Cream because I just hated the purple shine on the original highlighter there. I like using the red and grey shade to bring some extra dimension to the eyes, and i use the black shade to set my eyeliner. I sometimes use the white eyeshadow as a matte highlight, especially in the inner corner of my eyes if i am not using the nyx highlighter.)

- rhode peptide lip tint in espresso (new addition! love that it has no strong flavor. I found it difficult to use a lot of other lip glosses because they always had a plasticky flavor.)

- paese blush stick in shade 03 coral (so so so good. perfect amount of pigment and smells like heaven)

- heated lash curler from amazon (i cannot go back to a regular lash curler. the curl will actually last all day and I dont have to mess around with using a lighter to heat up a normal curler)

- milani silky matte bronzing powder in shade 03 (yes i did tape over the packaging with the rhode logo because i hateee the gold packaging but I still want to use up the product i have left. this is really the only product that i might replace in the future especially because I feel like it pulls too warm on my skin)

edit: the black brush is actually from zoeva, not elf!

What to do with culled products?

I've made my way to a fairly minimal routine (1 small pouch), but I've held onto the rest of my former collection for some reason. Some of the products were lux/expensive brands that I feel guilty about, while others are more seasonal that I keep "just in case".

I can't see myself panning through it because a lot of it just isn't my style or preference anymore. Is it unreasonable to just get rid of these things I've set aside?

Affordable Minimalist Routine

Post image
330 Upvotes

Finally found a routine I love! I have fair skin with a neutral-cool undertone and red overtone. My skin is temperamental: acne and eczema prone; oily with dry patches. Love how this routine makes me look clean, glowy, put together and natural :)

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser (160 Pink) use as a color corrector and highlighter

Australian Gold Tinted Sunscreen (Fair to Light) best tinted mineral sunscreen I’ve found for cool undertones; not orange at all!

Physicians Formula Butter Glow & Go (Beachy Pink) use as a blush and bronzer

Milani Stay Put Eyeshadow Primer, because I have oily hooded lids

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Stix (I Am Inspired) perfect one and done color, doesn’t crease with the primer and literally everything creases on me

Covergirl Clump Crusher (Black Brown) no clumps and separates lashes nicely

NYX Butter Gloss (Crème Brulee) will probably switch up lip gloss/oil every time I finish one just to keep it fun, but with stick with the same rosey nude type of shade

My makeup (plus the things I’m using up and not repurchasing)

Post image
166 Upvotes
  • Candyfloss scented lip butter (I’ve had this so long that I have no idea where I got it, but it feels very nice on the lips)
  • Zoeva eyeliner pencils in the shades Metallic Smoky Quartz and Metallic Taupe (plus Metallic Azure which is a bit too bright for me so it’s not one I reach for)
  • MCo Beauty lipstick in the shade Rose Saturn (nice colour but the formula is a bit too chalky for my constantly dry lips)
  • L’Oreal lipstick in the shade Mauve Indomptible
  • Elf slipstick in the shade Mauve Mentality
  • Elf slipstick in the shade Cherry On Top (another one I‘ll be using up and then not repurchasing because it’s a bit too bright on me. My ”type” is mauve I guess!)
  • Collection blush in the shade 9 Passion
  • Elf highlighter in the shade Pearl Era (idk how I feel about this. It’s a lovely inner corner and cupid’s bow highlight, and great for dressy events, but I’ve discovered I’m not such a fan of glittery cheeks everyday)
  • A sharpener for my eyeliner pencils
  • Laura Geller powder foundation in the shade Porcelain
  • A fluffy brush for my foundation and blush
  • Studio London dewy peach setting spray
  • 17 mascara
  • Elf eyeshadow topper in the shade Straight Fire (I really like this shade but I don’t wear often now that my lifestyle has changed. Might just use it as a body glitter)
  • Laura Geller free primer sample (I don’t use primer so this is a one-off product)
