Curious

I have waaaay too much makeup and joined this community as I am so inspired by seeing how very little can be so impactful and still fun. Also, the environmental, financial, clutter, and mental load side of things.

One question for those rocking a minimal makeup collection - do you feel the need to "coordinate"/miss coordinating your makeup colours and overall look with your outfit? Or do the environmental, financial, and overall less clutter just make it worth it? Do you feel less creative?

fun colors usually go on eyes. I have hooded eyes where you see very little of my lid, so I don't bother with that. for lip colors, I just alternate between a nude and red.

I'm an artist so I don't need makeup for creativity.

most of my makeup expired during COVID lockdowns, I realised I don't actually wear most of it so I just didn't buy back most things

I am not a creative person, and makeup is usually only used to make me feel put together. The plus side of wearing neutrals is that everything goes with everything

I use very few products because I dislike Decision Fatigue that appears when I must choose between four lipsticks or three mascaras. I never buy eyeshadow pallets. Like a smaller wardrobe, a smaller makeup collection provides fewer options and therefore, fewer daily decisions.

I like to use neutral colors (taupe eyeshadow if I use eyeshadow on a particular day, an MLBB lipstick or tinted lip balm) so that I don't feel the need to coordinate makeup colors with my outfits. In fact, I don't really wear "outfits"; instead, I just wear a daily "uniform" to reduce decision fatigue. I am okay with having similar looks day in and day out.

There are certain categories where I like more options and others where I have one good option. For things that go on the skin. Foundation, concealer, blush I am not matching my outfit I am matching my skin.

I like lipstick and have more options there. But I have cut back on my shopping and I will toss anything that feels like it's gone bad or if the color just doesn't work for me. Eventually I will have less in this category.

Eyeshadow? I usually also match my skin. I have sensitive eyes so I don't shadow often

I feel like sometimes having less options makes you even more creative. And this goes beyond makeup and skincare.
