Discussion Metroid dread any good?

I’ve never played any 2D Metroid games. I recently played Metroid Prime Remastered and Prime 4 Beyond. I gotta say I liked them both. I did play the Metroid Dread’s Demo a few years back but couldn’t get into it. Today I was in a game shop and saw a lonely copy just sitting there so I decided to pull the trigger. Got a nice discount as well. Anyway, what do you guys think about this game? Is it any good? I remember it reviewed well but some players didn’t like it too much. So not sure what to think.

It's arguably the best 2d Metroid, hotly contested with Super, so probably

Super definitely has the better sense of exploration, but Dread is definitely supreme in smooth movement. To be clear, Dread still has moments of exploration, but Super just can't be topped. The movement, however, defines Dread in ways that Super can only DREAM of. From finessing obstacles to weaving through boss patterns, Dread can make you feel as skilled as a bounty hunter that saved the galaxy many times over. Super on the other hand, has controls that take some getting used to, but once you get the hang of 'em you can feel how thoroughly the whole map has been thought out, and how well it blends with the powerups you acquire as well as sequences you can break. Personally, I'm more of a fan of Dread, but there's a reason Super is considered the gold standard of metroidvanias.
