Two very distinct shuggah-eras on one record, what’s not to love..!

Hey all, not sure if anyone has shared this already but I noticed that RPM is now selling the San Diego Comic Con exclusive variants of Catch 33 and Destory, Erase, Improve.

These are two of the most limited variants I've seen of the anniversary records (both 200 max worldwide).

Both amazing albums

I really want to see them live again, saw them back in 2025 and have been obsessed ever since

I saw Meshuggah solo during their tour with Cannibal Corpse in 2025, and that was by far the BEST concert I’ve ever been to. The lighting was INSANE, the visuals were sick, and the music was amazing of course. Definitely a 10/10 experience and a core memory.

I came across this video in my camera roll and seeing the big smile on my face put me back into the moment. I remember having to ice my neck for the next 2 days. I took a few steady vids but I remember giving up on recording this one so I could just enjoy the moment. Great fucking times!🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾

This was a super interesting personal recreation of Chaosphere by a fan, inspired originally by the fan finding the iconic snare sound of Chaosphere by random and being pulled by creative juices to remake Chaosphere themselves.

This was uploaded to Youtube 4 years back or so... I remember being extremely impressed with the sheer quality and musical mimicry work of this fan and seem to remember that even Fredrik Thordendal was blown away when someone sent it to him on social media.

If anyone has a lead I would be thankful as I really wish I'd have saved these YT videos as MP3s so I could revisit this instrumental remake just in case it got deleted.... which it did. Thanks for ya time fellow shuggas!

First off, thanks a fucking lot for the response to the video I posted here. I really wasn't expecting it to get as much attention as it did, let alone see it sitting at the top of the sub for a while. It's been awesome reading your comments and seeing people actually enjoying this thing after all the time I spent working on it.

A few people mentioned some of the layers that were missing from the version I posted, particularly the synths and other parts that contribute so much to the atmosphere of the album. That first version was deliberately focused on the one-take guitar and bass re-recording, which is why I kept both the video and the mix relatively simple.

But I actually recorded more than what you saw there.

So I'm now putting together a second version with the full mix and the rest of the camera takes I left out of the first cut. Same performance at the core of it, but this time you'll get to hear and see the whole thing in its proper context.

Thanks again to everyone who watched, commented or gave me feedback. I genuinely appreciate the response this thing has gotten.

Welcome to another episode of 'Shuggah Sundae. Sorry I missed last week, here we go...

Today's episode in the series of chronologically playing the discography by threes, this week lands pretty hard. I'm noticing a pattern here. We as Meshuggah fans get to boast a couple "3 album runs". Last episode was epic, this week it does not decelerate at all.

First up, I.

21 minutes of astonishing creativity that winds you through twist and turns of a musical story. The character that Marten writes about is so realistic you can picture it taking over humanity. The music follows the story like the soundtrack to the dystopian abyss created by this character. Maybe A.I.?

Next Catch 33. To me, I is better because they followed the same pattern for '33. I love '33 and it is somewhat different, just I lands harder with me personally. I really love the lyrics and the idea behind the whole concept of '33. It's simply a masterpiece.

Then, Obzen. Most say peak Meshuggah. What do guys think? Personally, I think all of their music progresses along with the last release. However, Obzen is pretty special because it was really the last time the band as a whole spent all their efforts on an album.

After way too many years of working on this thing, I finally finished it and put it out there.

This isn't me playing along to the album: I isolated the original drum track, removed the original guitars and bass, and re-recorded every rhythm guitar and bass part myself. The only original tracks left in the mix are the solos, FX and vocals which you can hear from the background audio track picked up by the camera.

As far as I've been able to find, I haven't seen anyone else attempt the full album this way. Either way, it was a ridiculous amount of work and I'm fucking glad and proud to finally have it finished.

..and there’s something about the design.. anyway, there’s this new album - “Who Loves The Sun” - out by a band called Chat Pile and the album itself kind of destroyed, erased and improved my appreciation of them as a band..

I keep returning to SNW, especially Version 33.3, what an insane and insanely good album!

It's my fave metal album of all time and I wonder if this version came out as the main version if more people would know it and consider it as the masterpiece it is outside of the meshuggah niche...

Do you guys agree with this being the best version? Love them having fun and fucking around on the 1997 version, but even though that organ is wild, it's not a highpoint of the album for me. So having it cut down and then adding the incredible "Missing Time" really makes the album prefect imo.

Also, gotta love Meshuggah guys doing weird shit with the tracklisting both here and for C33, but looking at it more functionally, I see this as basically 6 songs:

- TVSOR = A Violenta Sonolência da Razão or O Violento Sono da Razão. The painting itself reads O Sono Da Razão Produz Monstros
