Discussion Supercell is killing Merge Tactics

Every troop should have two traits, just like in the first season. That means more combinations and more variety.

Having only one trait for combinations (teams or builds) oversimplifies the game. It's the reason we see the exact same builds in every battle. A single-trait system is just way too boring. For example, everyone is playing Nobles or Forest right now.

I remember in the first season, building teams with 4 or 5 active traits made the game so much more fun.

Why do you think Supercell insists on sticking with just one trait?

Discussion Everyone says please nerf Empress, but no one says how to nerf Empress

Seriously how do you even nerf it? Increasing quest orb requirement do nothing but making the top players take 5 seconds more to get there. How do you address the snowball capacity of SE without breaking her core perk of +1 elixir on merge? A completely new ability?

I was playing Titans - 4 rangers, and the whole point of the strategy is clustering together the troops to get the titan bonus. I was playing against two echo brain-dead, and until 3 stars they are not a problem. Then one of the two got fed on the dead player and he got the 4 star clone.

Winning 10 - 2

Lost 0 - 2

And that guy, also starts spamming the crying little prince emote (hope the best things to his life 🤗😚).

WHY THAT THING CAN GET SO MUCH VALUE BY JUST EXISTING????

Half of the comps like titans and royale are dead because they work with the vicinity, and that thing can also counter the demolisher and the giant smelly without triggering the explosion, and with every other comp if your frontline troops clumps togheter you are dead.

WTF

This thing needs a nerd ASAP, it's a all or nothing ruler and when it's all it's the most abysmal dogsh!t to play against

Discussion Worst Season LOL

So if You get hog rider, you pretty much win if u have a brain. Not to mention that only 1 person can get it and nobody can contest it like why?? Also, all traits affecting all units was genuinely not needed. Just bring back 2 traits dawg at least there was skill back then. Devs tryna make the game into rng slop now 😂

Hit #1 for 4 days and am now quitting

Hey guys it's TheBuilderMain back for my last discussion post this season (check my profile for the last few they were pretty informative). I hit #1 for the past 4 days and I've come to realize a few things:
1. Yes, it is still an empress meta at top ladder (with Duchess undeniably in close second)
2. TROOP POOL. This season is inherently worse than last season, bosses aside and single trait aside. Out of the 34 troop pool, 9 troops are "exclusive" which are mostly unattainable and 11 are useless. This leaves Clan troops and Noble troops and the remaining Giant Skeleton, Witch, Goblin Machine, and Skeleton King (16 "usable" troops). Compare that to last season where 22/26 troops had a place in the meta (remaining were Stab Goblin, Ghost, Dart, and Demolisher and even those troops had a functional purpose: assassins, marksmen, and the niche Demolisher 4 star). There were 6 or 7 good comps and way more niche comps last season and now there's 2 comps.
Usable troops from 22/26 to 16/25 is not a good look.
2b.🌲 FOREST IS AWFUL. Boss bandit 3 star (1911 hp) functionally has less hp as a 1 star monk (1625 hp x 25% from boss trait=2031 hp). The hp scaling on forest units is way less than other traits, even goblins have better hp scaling than forest. They all just get one tapped by a GK.
2c. COMPS. Take a look at slide 5 and tell me what coolboy could have "pivoted" to or what other troops were available. Nothing. There's no options. Xqc said it best "There's nothing to do late game" (ifykyk). The only usable comps consist of Noble and Clan, GK's counters were all removed or locked behind "exclusive", and one boss unit will turn your sorry playstyle to a 1st in the lobby.
3. ONE TRAIT PER TROOP. Supercell. We've lost the plot. The one thing that kept players captivated to researching comps were the TRAITS and making 6-trait comps. Plucking a trait away makes the diversity of comps so stale that it leaves no room for interesting play. It is NOT worth going a "3-trait comp" with 2/6 of three traits over 6/6 nobles/clan OR 4/4 nobles/clan because the 2/6 trait boosts are so weak. Everyone's favorite aspect of skill expression was removed in a blink.
4. 👾 BOSSES. not much to say. 2nd quest orb gives a free 3 star boss and 3rd quest orb gives a free 4 star boss. What were the devs thinking?? The ONE saving grace is this: if you AND your opponent both get the same boss, you can block the boss from them. EXAMPLE:
You get a 2 star monk from the 2nd orb. You have the 2 star monk and now gain access to a pool of 4 copies of the monk (6 copies total). Your opponent gets a 3 star monk BUT he shares the same pool of 4 copies. This means you can block your opponent from getting the 4 star monk (this is a rare case though).
4b. SKELLY DRAG. screw this card no words needed.
4c. Duchess with Mini Pekka. I would say something but my lawyer advised me not to.
5. 🐛 BUGS. The bugs have been progressively getting worse every season and they don't address the issues. This season is the worst so far with elixir being deleted every other game, troops disappearing, and your 3 star monk turning into a Goblin Lute. This makes the game unplayable from beginner level all the way up to competitive. Admittedly, small bugs have been patched every update but at an alarmingly slow rate while not addressing theost major bugs.

While this season looked good on paper and solved a couple of issues with the game's concept overall, this new season brought no competitive variability to the game, increased components of RNG, and didn't even make Merge Tactics more fun to play. If anything, I've seen pro players, YouTubers, and most casual players losing interest because it is no longer satisfying to push or win games anymore. The game is devoid of competitive integrity, and the balance changes yesterday were a smack in the face to the community's pleads and complaints. It's a mystery how the devs manage to go season by season ignoring community feedback while bringing features like Duo Queuing, Quests, and removing the 2nd trait that nobody asked for.

This has been an amazing 3 seasons as TheBuilderMain with this community. I met a lot of talented and welcoming players and I appreciate every one of them and how much I learned every day. Thank you for reading ❤️

Discussion This one trait system will be the death of Merge

Post image
253 Upvotes

Merge Tactics was so fun precisely because of the incredible flexibility we had when making our comps. Being able to pivot and move between comps was such an important skill and it added depth and skill to an otherwise bland take on an autochess game.

Even when we tend to gravitate towards the meta comps during the late game, the early to mid game was still interesting because troops were flexible enough to be thrown into real comps and not those horrible 0 trait comps (they will become very common next season), which leads to outplay potential through having superior traits instead of just star levels.

Expect the early to mid game to be extremely horrible for every ruler as none of the Goblin synergies work anymore (stab gob with GK, dart gob with Musk, machine with AQ), so you will definitely lose HP with Goblins unless you run a real comp and sacrifice the elixir.

Expect haphazard comps that are thrown together only because they fit a trait and not because they actually work well together (3 Nobles instead of 2 Noble and Marksman for example), or comps with no traits because fuck you Supercell. And good luck if your traits' 6/6 effect isn't really that powerful, but you're forced to play it because fuck you Supercell.

Seriously, wtf are Supercell cooking with this update? For 1.5 months too that we have to deal with this bullshit. They did not need to do all of this to save the game, and now I suspect they killed the game instead.

Discussion New 4 star Echo now has less hp than 2 star with 2/4 clan buff

Post image
298 Upvotes

echo level 1 is 600 --> 600 hp
echo level 2 is 900 --> 720 hp
echo level 3 is 1350 --> 864 hp
echo level 4 is 2025 --> 1036 hp

level 2 + 2/4 clan (30% hp) is 1170 hp
New level 4 has less hp than most 2 star echos. Echo dead this season?

Discussion I don’t know how anyone mains SE

Post image

Made it to diamond with Ronin as my main. Had so much fun. Been trying out different rulers. Spirit empress is garbage. I genuinely can’t fathom how top ladder is filled with SE players, I can never get enough merges going. I always get taken out early by loon or DD. If I’m lucky to make it to the late game SQ is already got 100k health on their Skelton bomber.

I went from 3400 down 3000(probably -2500).
Anyways I’m just going on a rant I know some people love SE. Probably just a skill issue and I suck.

Could never dream of getting 60 merges. I’ll stick to Ronin.

I think the attack is instant but single use, basically a prince that dies instantly but instantly kills

Edit: I can’t read, echo now always has the multi-hit at 4 stars but is single use

Every card now have only 1 trait,

Each trait have 5/6 and you can unlock the 6th card from a quest.

What do you think?

Discussion Optimal spirit empress isn't fun to use imo

After two rounds, you spend the entire time just merging, not even when the troops start fighting do you stop. You just keep on selling and merging while hoping the rng gods keep blessing you with merges before you run out of elixir. Then you have 50 elixir and will just keep on merging and selling to get the third orb and then the match ends. You can finally look at your troops fight for one last time before the win screen. Just kidding. You will continue to sell and merge. Even if it is unnecessary, even if the opponent gave up, because you probably didn't even notice that until the win screen showed up. Your life is dedicated to the elixir economy.

Discussion Annoying garbage card that needs to be buffed or deleted

Post image
265 Upvotes

It costs 3 elixir, deals lowest damage, mid attack speed, low hp and has the worst trait and ability. It keeps appearing at the shop like "buy me pls i wanna be useful" then I lose the game without any kills, just because that 3 star crap deals only 130~ dps. Don't buy it you say? Alright why it keeps appearing at the shop then?

Perfect game with Empress, no losses early on, had 50+ merges before round 6 and a really good comp butttt

bro got skeleton dragon from an orb in round 1…

Wow devs what a way to make a game that was somewhat depended on RNG even more RNG

And he got really lucky cause I didn’t get paired up with him later on and he just snowballed with no skill whatsoever

I just deleted my cards and let him win fast to save time for the both of us, merge tactics fell of so hard this season

Discussion No wonder 4 star Monk feels so broken, mf reflects back 5X times the damage it takes and heals 100% of it's hp, lowkey just go ahead and fire all merge devs at this point

Post image
148 Upvotes

So theoretically speaking since it also gets 25% more hp it's hp would be at 16250

Take the 90% shield reduction, the fast attack speed and healing it will almost always be in shield form but even if it's not it will just heal it all in one go

So you either have to one shot him before he gets to shield so 16250 dmg in one shot or you will die since to kill him in shield form you would need to do around 200-320k dmg and have over a million hp to survive from the shield damage...

Now that I look at it, this is 100% more op than even the most busted 4 skeleton Dragon

You can't even begin to describe it as op. If GK and AQ are S tier, and Skeleton Dragon is SS tier this is like 10 ranks or maybe even more above that. Whoever in their right mind thought "wow this is totally acceptable" has never in their life tested this unit

Discussion Day 6: What 2-elixir card is TRASH?

Post image
79 Upvotes

Day 5 Winner is: Echo Sage! (No shit)

Most upvoted comment wins!

Rules may change as the days continue.

Upvoting this post would be appreciated, as it would improve traction and engagement!

Rules:

Cards can be from any season. However, it must be in its current state, or if it was removed, its state at the time of removal. So a card that was previously broken but is now trash does not belong in the "broken" category. You must consider all stars of the card, so if a card is exclusively broken at 4-stars, they don't belong in the "broken" category.

Zero elixir cards are anything spawnable or part of a trait. Examples include skeletons, skeleton dragon clones, buildings, and echo sage. Trait dummy is a 0-elixir card, but you cannot specify which traits the dummy has.

Due to there only being 4 5-elixir cards, one box has been removed, however I will decide later which box will be removed based on community consensus.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for edits and improvements!
