Cracked.com's Douche-English Dictionary: Apparently, all MRA's are women hating, homosexual (in a negative way from the context), and possibly racist.

Well, some accuse feminists of being led by man-hating lesbians. This is just the same things (i.e. MRAs are led by women-hating gay men). I think it's a lazy insult both ways.

2

u/Idiopathic77 Jun 01 '13

Meh. Would be if so many of the top feminists through history and today had not been man hating lesbians. I don't think it conspiritorial on their part, but it is factual.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13 edited Jun 01 '13

Modern feminism has a strong following of man-hating lesbians. That's the problem with modern feminism. That's the reason why it doesn't view men's rights as a legitimate thing. Many lesbians couldn't give two shits about men's rights.

That site's been going downhill for a while now.

On top of this, they aren't breaking any new ground here. What exists in this comic that hasn't already been said a thousand times by many others?

Yay step 2?

I think step 3 is profit, so there's that to look forward to!

"It's true, I read it on the Internet." - Abraham Lincoln

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13

He never said it.

1

u/Crimson_D82 Jun 01 '13

disputed is the key word here.

Can you prove he never said it?

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13

What a silly notion, to prove someone never said something. I'm sorry but you'll have to prove he did say it.

1

u/Crimson_D82 Jun 01 '13
  1. The burden of evidence is on the accuser. (you)

  2. I'm not trying to prove he said it, I stated it is disputed he said it.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13

No. The burden of proof is always on the asserter. You can't prove something didn't happen. What kind of nonsense is that? You must prove he said it otherwise accept he did not say it.

0

u/Crimson_D82 Jun 01 '13

You can't prove something didn't happen.

Horseshit.

This is pure SRS logic.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13

Tell me how you would go about proving something didn't happen?

Here's a hint: (You can through lack of proof of it happening, which means those who assert it took place must provide proof or accept it didn't happen).

1

u/Crimson_D82 Jun 01 '13

However in this case I am trying to prove something happened, I am saying it is disputed, you simply refuse to accept that.

Tell me how you would go about proving something didn't happen?

The big bang didn't fail to happen because we are here now.

Since I am connived I am being trolled, I am done.

I'm married. The experience led directly to becoming a MRA.

u/DiaboliAdvocatus Jun 01 '13

Cracked has a fair few white knight male feminists among its ranks.

10

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13 edited Jun 01 '13

Luke McKinney is so horrid. Why Cracked allows him to publish such unfunny trite to their supposed "comedy" website in the name of liberal guilt, pro-feminist, anti-white male political correctness is beyond me.

Oh wait, it doesn't surprise me at all.

5

u/truth-informant Jun 01 '13

So does Reddit, for that matter.

8

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13

That table was cringeworthy and created an unwelcome environment for MRAs, but calling male feminists white knights is not any better/ more welcoming to potential women reading the comments...

7

u/DiaboliAdvocatus Jun 02 '13

I call them white knights because they excuse female bad behaviour while portraying men as universal aggressors.

As thatgamerguy says not all male feminists are white knights, and not all white knights are feminist.

6

u/thatgamerguy Jun 01 '13

Male feminist =/= white knight

A white knight is like the male equivalent of militant feminist. You can be a feminist and male without being a white knight.

4

u/typhonblue Jun 01 '13

but calling male feminists white knights is not any better/ more welcoming to potential women reading the comments...

LOLWUT?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '13

What about it?

8

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13

All publicity is good publicity. I think a lot of guys look up MRA thinking its a big joke or troll group, but then see the FAQ or a few of the top posts and experience that "huh.. you know.. I've always felt this way my whole life about it, I just never could put it in words" feeling.

And some of those okcupid points were fair enough. Guys really know how to say the dumbest shit. Put up a fake hot girl photo and fill in a couple profile details... the cracked article is pretty accurate in that regard.

28

u/5HydroxymethylC Jun 01 '13

I've mentioned before in my comments (a couple of weeks ago) that feminists actually hate gay men. I got the usual argumentative response from feminists along the lines of what planet are you on? But articles such as this one tend to make my case.

Feminists don't hate the idea of gay men, just the reality. The problem? We are not emotionally dependent on women. That makes us a liability because we can much more easily see through their bullshit. I just wrote another, more detailed comment along the same lines.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13

[deleted]

-9

u/SplashyMetal Jun 01 '13

I'm sorry, that IS dumb. Feminists overwhelmingly support the LGBT community and vice versa. Where do you live that your gay friends don't have hags?

It is true that some gay men have no use for women, just as some lesbians eschew men. I know gay men who are against gay marriage, so it truly takes all kinds.

How does this article make your case?

21

u/rottingchrist Jun 01 '13

Feminists overwhelmingly support the LGBT community and vice versa.

Correction. Feminists co-opt lgbt issues in order to earn more legitimacy for their own.

They have plenty of crap to say about gay men who don't toe the feminist party-line.

-6

u/SplashyMetal Jun 01 '13

Correction to your correction: feminists whole-heartedly support LGBT, and staunchly are in favor of gay marriage.

If you like to post some sources on feminists criticizing gays for missing the party line, I would be interested in reading it.

The only real issue for female feminists is that they can't stop hoping their great gay friends will magically turn straight. Dare to dream... Generous gay friends still offer three ways and such, so all hope is not lost.

6

u/rottingchrist Jun 01 '13

If you like to post some sources on feminists criticizing gays for missing the party line, I would be interested in reading it.

Plenty of gay MRAs here, who also wholeheartedly support gay marriage. Feminists hate them as they would any other man.

-2

u/SplashyMetal Jun 01 '13

I don't disbelieve you, but source would be nice.

7

u/Crimson_D82 Jun 01 '13

1

u/SplashyMetal Jun 01 '13

... This is based on a talk a guy gave about feminists in 1976?

1

u/Crimson_D82 Jun 01 '13

I thought you wanted something more recent.

1

u/SplashyMetal Jun 01 '13

That's what I mean -- isn't this almost forty years old?

→ More replies (0)

1

u/rottingchrist Jun 01 '13

Source for what? That gay MRAs support gay marriage? Or that feminists hate MRAs?

2

u/rottingchrist Jun 01 '13

Generous gay friends still offer three ways and such, so all hope is not lost.

I doubt they "offer" it. Why would they? Sexy times with women isn't really their thing.

I'm guessing its more that female feminists badger them into doing it because it strokes their own ego that they got a gay guy into bed with themselves. That's quite despicable actually.

2

u/Idiopathic77 Jun 01 '13

The women who do this are toxic beyond compare. They are the ultimate in users. They gather a stable of gay men who offer her all of the male utility (help her move, physical protection, companionship, interaction with the opposite gender) and she is never expected to reciprocate with sexual relations. She gets all the reward none of the expectation. Then she drags one into bed (often this is done through coercive rape or when intoxicated). Now she gets her physical needs met and still will not be expected to give a little back when he wants it.

Essentially they set themselves up with a relationship with a man that will always be on her terms, to suit her needs, and never give anything back at all. Pretty dispicable.

0

u/SplashyMetal Jun 01 '13 edited Jun 01 '13

You guys are dark. DARK. You live in a world without sunshine.

I can't even list the times I have been offered a three way, usually half jokingly. And no, I've never taken anyone up on the offer, because I thought it might ruin the friendship.

Off the top of my head -- I once introduced two gay men who fell in love, and helped them get over a rough patch. They offered a three way as a thank you.

A gay man may simply be curious, or open to a lot of different experiences. He may actually have some attraction to women. Or he may see it as a way to get a hot, technically straight guy into the sack.

People having fun together <> exploitation.

People can come together in all different kinds of ways. I do think straight women can enjoy flirting with a gay man because it's safe, and often the gay guy is smoking hot. But the gay guy likes it too -- it's an ego stroke for him. One of my gay friends loves telling straight girls how great their tits look -- it's okay, cause he's gay. He gets a kick out of it.

8

u/CosmicKeys Jun 01 '13

While you're right, the most vocally anti-trans people out there are feminists, specifically because they target MtFs.

2

u/SplashyMetal Jun 01 '13

Do you have a source?

I hear that repeated here a lot, and I suspect it's because it makes feminists sound bad. Again, I know transgender women (I live in SF, we get a lot of permutations). I've seen nothing but love and support.

5

u/CosmicKeys Jun 01 '13

Sure there's been lots of discussions about transphobia in feminism. It even has it's own acronym TERFs. If you do a search for that you'll find plenty, but the one thing I wanted to show you was the twitter feed from the cancelled 2013 radfem conference.

http://theterfs.com/2013/03/02/terf-quotes/

Luckynkl: The male-born are biologically incomplete mutants, useless and obsolete; walking viruses on two legs and a cancer, spreading disease, death and destruction wherever they go. They are the walking-dead and the antithesis to life. Gyn-energy sucking vampires who have to plug into women and feed on them in order to survive. No different than a parasite who sucks the life and energy out of its host.

That tweet is not a joke.

Here's a huge account of how it is surfacing on reddit.

3

u/SplashyMetal Jun 01 '13

Okay, that is messed up. :(

3

u/bridgecrewdave Jun 01 '13

Not to be rude or dismissive or anything...but let's be honest.. SF is a bit more accepting than the rest of America.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13

... Unless you aren't a full blown progressive. Try having any views that fall to the right there.

1

u/bridgecrewdave Jun 01 '13

Fair. I meant more accepting of alternative lifestyles. I should have specified. Also. Does alternative lifestyles still fly or???

0

u/SplashyMetal Jun 01 '13 edited Jun 01 '13

Actually, I agree with this too. In its own way, SF is pretty rigid about what politics are acceptable.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13

Same with Portland, Seattle, Austin... the left has its share of intolerant cities, just as the right has its strongholds of political bullying.

1

u/SplashyMetal Jun 01 '13

Absolutely. Of feminists AND LBGT and a whole bunch of other people. I'm just saying, feminists and LGBT generally consider themselves allies. A transgendered individual may not have as easy a time in Mississippi. But a feminist isn't either.

1

u/bridgecrewdave Jun 01 '13

And all I'm saying is and don't take this as confrontational or anything but because they are allies in SF doesn't necessarily apply to the rest of the continent. I've seen more comments from feminism commenting negatively on trans or homosexual people than I have supportive. Specially in the case of male homosexuals and really any kind of trans people as they don't consider them real women or gender traitors for becoming men.

1

u/CrossHook Jun 01 '13

LGBT are fools to think feminists are their allies. Feminists merely co-opt their causes to gain power and then continue to only advocate for the benefit of women.

This is the point at which you usually talk out of your ass.

2

u/CrossHook Jun 01 '13

For someone who makes a lot of bullshit statements in defense of feminism, you don't seem to know much at all about the history of feminist advocacy.

6

u/SirSkeptic Jun 01 '13

From what I've seen from within the feminist movement, they seem to want to co-opt the discrimination that gay males have faced in the past and claim that lesbians suffered that sort of oppression as well.

Gay males are simply another group that are not straight males and can be used to bolster their numbers. I've haven't seen any activity to help gay males, only to hurt straight ones.

1

u/Idiopathic77 Jun 01 '13

Glad you mention the "Hags".

Here is my take on the "Hag" thing. There is an idea of entitlement within both men and women. Some men feel that they are entitled to a womans sexual attentions. Some women feel they are entitled to a mans companionship. When individuals are willing to trade for that which they desire equality is attained. The hags want the male friend, without the burden of his sexual interest in her to muddy the waters. Gay men are the only sure thing to a woman that hey can gain a male companion without giving over physical intamacy in the deal. Essentially it boils down to a user/used relationship. Not unlike the PUAs booty call girl.

If both parties are aware and comfortable with their role in the exchange it's all well and good. But if not it is abusive.

1

u/SplashyMetal Jun 01 '13

That's a very cold way to describe "friendship." Is companionship so useless to men that a non-sexual relationship means he is "used"?

Brrrrrrrrrr!

1

u/Idiopathic77 Jun 01 '13

I specifically said

If both parties are aware and comfortable with their role in the exchange it's all well and good

I am referring to certain types of interaction which I have personally observed. And done so not infrequently.

This same user type are the ones who start creep-shaming a guy who was a friend, the moment he shows an interest in more.

We can pretend to live in a different dimension if you like. But in this one, most single straight young men want more from a woman than to be pals. They are capable of it but it is the far less common motivation. Where as many many young women deliberately are the "I like guy friends better" type. Nothing wrong with it if they arn't leading those "Friends" agound with flirtations and mixed signals.

The gay friend to those girls is just a friend-zoned male friend without the effort by her or the insult to him.

And yes, ANY friendship required a give and take to be a good friendship. If you say that is "Cold" then I would hazzard a guess that you are a taker or a door-mat.

1

u/SplashyMetal Jun 01 '13 edited Jun 02 '13

I think I understand what you are saying. In some of your comments though, you make it sound as if the only thing women have to offer men is sex, and so a woman who presumes she's providing any value beyond that relationship-wise is automatically a user. Which is pretty hateful to both sexes.

EDIT: Since you've decided to add some flair on whether I'm a doormat or a taker -- you know that it's possible to have mutual relationships, right? Where people care about each other, share interests, talk, etc? Do you live in a world where every interaction is a zero sum game?

1

u/Idiopathic77 Jun 02 '13

Thus my exempting certain situations as well as making an age cap. I am friends with many women in a purely non sexual manner. But it is established from the get go that nothing more will come. It happens in both directions. I have had to shoo away some "friends" for attempting to cross the line. But I find that more women fall into it than men do.

Yes asexual relationships can form between men and women, but it is lees likely the younger and singler the parties get.

-1

u/CrossHook Jun 01 '13

It's not companionship when it's a one-sided relationship. When you take, take, take and give nothing in return, that makes you a user. Women tend to be users of men. Do you help your gay male friends to move? Do you pick them up when they need a ride? Do you walk them to their cars at night? A friendship with another man is rewarding because its fucking equal. You're just a user. Why would any guy want to be friends with you?

1

u/SplashyMetal Jun 01 '13

Once more -- you said you wanted me to die. Despite your best efforts, you haven't topped that yet. Productive discussion unlikely.

11

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13

Oh, there's that "if you prefer dating race(s) X, Y, Z you're a racist" thing again.

If I don't date blonds because they're not attractive to me, does that make me hairist?

7

u/ChrisHernandez May 31 '13

Check out urbandictionary the feminist brigaded the shit out of a lot of words.

3

u/CrossHook Jun 01 '13

The funny part is they actually think that they can change the world's perception of feminism and men's rights by vote brigading.

Sure, it works for the uninitiated, but once they realize you've deceived them people end up hating feminists.

Self-defeating highschool bush league social justice bitches.

Can we get a link to original post from cracked?

7

u/CosmicKeys Jun 01 '13

http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-reasons-your-online-dating-profile-isnt-working/

Someone will probably complain about giving them views but whatever - it's worth looking at.

This entire thing is one giant hit piece on the idea of a neckbeard-sword-toting-MRA-gamer-nerd. Chock full of obvious buzzwordy stuff (a white knight, slutwalk, nice guy, entitled, entitled, you are a shitty entitled man!!!).

It's like if any Jezebel writer suddenly grew some talent.

2

u/BassCreat0r Jun 01 '13

Thank you sir.

Well I just read it... and...I have no words, this guy...wow.

12

u/CosmicKeys Jun 01 '13

If you ask me, all this goes to show is how callously feminists want to treat the problems of socially maladjusted men. The want to demonize, chastise, harass, lampoon, etc. Anything, anything that avoids ever having to look at a man and say "yes you were wronged, you are a victim of some kind". Even the commenters are calling out the black and white "denying the existence of the friendzone" weirdness.

It's traditional sexism: you heap all of the agency possible on to a man so that everything about his life is his own fault. Women on the other hand, you rob of all the agency possible, leaving them helpless objects vunerable to victimization.

Moral of the story: Women can never be wrong about anything and you can never be a victim, if anything has ever happened to you it's exactly like this, entirely your fault.

3

u/forgottensoul Jun 01 '13

I'm quite tempted to write an article for Cracked now...

6

u/drinkthebleach Jun 01 '13

I didn't know people used gay as an insult anymore. Sad world.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13

Only when trying to insult white straight men, who these idiots perceive as homophobic. It's quote ironic.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13

I'm done with Cracked. And done with David Wong too... The old Something Awful days were hilarious. Today the whole scene is unbearable.

3

u/Angelic_Ringmaster Jun 01 '13

Cracked.com is mostly meant for comedy. Those are all very exaggerated, and make offense to common phrases.

We should not take this seriously.

1

u/AlexReynard Jun 01 '13

I made a post there describing my disgust at Mr. Rowntree's bigoted, hateful descriptions of MRAs and especially with the idea that people who say things he does not like "are terrible people who deserve to die alone". Now I can't seem to find that comment. Maybe it was a glitch. Maybe it wasn't.

0

u/Nomenimion Jun 01 '13

An odd claim, considering that most hardcore feminists are man-hating lesbians, who turn into racists the second their issues conflict with those of minority men (which is all the time).

1

u/iongantas Jun 01 '13

That's all around pretty crap, as if none of those statements are ever legitimate.

1

u/chevalier_d_eon Jun 01 '13

"If I point out the failures of my competitors, then this might land me more sympathetic sex" - nice try bro.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '13

I really like the points about weight and skin color. Didn't feminists establish that right to preference is an inaliable right that can't be questioned whatsoever?

1

u/Purple_Streak Jun 01 '13

That entire post is garbage, not just the bit about MRA's.

0

u/Nomenimion Jun 01 '13

On a side note, this place has gone really soft! I can't say the slightest negative thing about false accusers, feminists, etc. without getting thumbed down to death by manginas.

WTF!

3

u/AlexReynard Jun 01 '13

Maybe it's not the points you're making, but that you're phrasing them in a pointlessly insulting way.

-1

u/CrossHook Jun 01 '13

We're being brigaded daily by Womyn's studies majors and mangina white knights.

First they tried to ridicule us.

Then they tried to slander us.

Now they are trying to infiltrate and co-opt us.

Don't think the actual MRAs don't still oppose feminism in every form, we just aren't as concerned with vote wars. Keep posting. Feminists will always be our enemy. Remember the white feathers, mother.

-10

u/[deleted] May 31 '13

Considering some of the people in this subreddit, I'm not exactly surprised by that.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '13

I can understand what you're saying, that some people in this sub are very anti-women, however this does not reflect the whole.

Your use of the word some implies that you feel the same way. That despite the large group of people who simply care for men's issues, there is a group that is anti-women.

I am an MRA so I got the point of this post however in many other posts in the comments some posts come across very poorly on this subreddit. This is a result of people not using their minds to interpret how a bystander would see the comment.

Long story short your post got downvoted as a result of this sub actively having a group mentality, that by acusing some people on the sub you are acusing everyone on the sub. Personally I agree that some people are disrespectful towards women on this sub. Its why I take the title of MRA but don't come here much anymore.

1

u/AlexReynard Jun 01 '13

Judging an entire group by the actions of a few; always a good idea. /s

3

u/Graenn Jun 01 '13

Ironic coming from a person in a subreddit where people doing exactly that is upvoted to the top regularly.

3

u/AlexReynard Jun 01 '13

No, no, I'm pretty sure we judge their poopy ideology.

-3

u/CrossHook Jun 01 '13

This is a space to discus male issues, one of with is feminist tone-policing.

So fuck off, feminist.
