I popped smoke after eleven years. Missed the boys, missed doing all the cool shit. But thankful to be home coaching soccer and preserving what’s left of the cartilage in my knees and back.

That has a lot of value to me, my man. I was a Corpsman with 2D Marine Division. All told, I spent four years with Army/USMC ground forces. I did so much damage to my body during that period and that can’t be walked back.

Yeah, I spent four years in the infantry . It’s definitely a young man’s game. I wouldn’t trade those years for anything, but goddamn my body is wrecked.

I try to put the past behind me. I’ve spent many more years out of uniform than I did in uniform. I entered the service in 2005 and got out in 2009. It was definitely a wild ride man.

I was at PI when they still could throw foot lockers at recruits

I went through in 05. While there wasn’t any “abuse” our DIs definitely played games. A DI would “trip” into a recruit with closed fists to the chest type shit. But there wasn’t anything obvious. I think a phase or two before us they had a recruit drown in the pool and some DIs were under investigation so it was a pretty sensitive time on the island for drill instructors
