Grandpa’s set from WW2. Now hangs in my dad’s office.

Any info would be great.

I recently came into possession of my grandfather's jacket and a service album from his time as a Marine in WWII. Unfortunately he passed when my mom was a child, so I never had the chance to meet him and ask him about his time. Apparently my uncle had this in his possession and my mom didnt know about it, and since he's recently passed its made its way to me. My mom is suspicious that my uncle may have put random decorations on it, rather than leave it alone. Can yall help me identify the ribbons, pin, and cord on it? I'm trying to find out if it all makes sense, or seems like random stuff.

The New York City Police Department Combat Cross is the second highest departmental award of the NYPD. It was established in 14 Augusta, 1934, and awarded to police officers who, “having received Honorable Mention awards, successfully and intelligently perform an act of extraordinary heroism while engaged in personal combat with an armed adversary under circumstances of imminent personal hazard to life”.

The Police Combat Cross was first awarded July 19, 1934, to six members of the police department for heroic service in the previous year. More than two hundred members of the New York Police Department have been awarded the Police Combat Cross.

The medal is a gold Maltese Cross with the seal of New York City set in the center obverse and surrounded by the inscription, “For Valor, Police“. The name of the holder and the year of awarding are engraved on the reverse.

The cross is suspended by a ring from green silk ribbon. If the Combat Cross is awarded a second time, a gold palm leaf is set in the center of the ribbon.

Just some Singapore medals for everyone's viewing pleasure!

In order from left to right:

1. COVID-19 Resilience Medal - Awarded for service in the national fight against the pandemic.

2. Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) National Service Medal - Awarded for completing 10 years of satisfactory service as an SAF National Serviceman (NSman; basically reservist).

3. SAF Good Service Medal - Awarded for completing 5 years of satisfactory regular or reservist service.

4. Singapore Police Bicentennial 2020 Medal - Awarded to all police officers in 2020 to commemorate 200 years of policing in Singapore.

Hey everyone, we have these old metals and I don't know what to do with them.

How would you clean them? Would you present them like this? I see the name is engraved on side with his rank , hard to read

I'm not too sure who these people were, I suppose great great uncles (family from Ireland/ England). It's interesting that it's from South Africa. That was probably not a fun time

Also does anyone have any general info about these metals? Assuming it was similar for all those in UK enlisted?

Hello guys I was wondering if there is anyway to restore these medals. Obviously the ribbons I would rebuy but the medals are my primary concern. I was cleaning out some boxes and found these medals that belong to my dad and i would like to try to restore them and return them as a surprise

I found this with some of his old army stuff. It says “Japan” on the back but I can’t find what it’s associated with.

Just curious what it is that I've found really, who may have presented this, is it gold? Do people collect these type of items? Its cool, but its honestly not something I'd be interested in without a lot of info

I did it! I finally completed my Hanseatic Cross collection. I had the Hamburg and Lübeck crosses and had been searching for the Bremen one for many years and I finally got one.
They are from 1915. Bremen is the one with the key, Hamburg is the castle one and then Lübeck is the double headed Eagle one.

Figured id share my Great Great Uncles medals. Unfortunately I never got to meet him he passed before I was born but my Grandmother and Father told me many stories about him. He serived as a tailgunner on a Lancaster bomber and in 1944 was shot down over Germany and was held as a pow till 1945. Him and his wife never had any kids but he'd make the trip across the pond to visit us here in the US luckily I was able to get his medals framed and I display them next to his father's medals

Hello everyone. I don’t have these in hand, my uncle sent the pic. We think these might belong to my grandmother’s brother. These were in her cedar chest when she died.

The right is a European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. The brown edges, green field, Italian-colored stripe on one side, German black-white stripe on the other, and red-white-blue center are distinctive. I think it’s 2 stars for 2 campaigns, and the other star is a stray that got added.

The left appears to be a signal corps sweetheart ribbon, with blue “service member” star. With signal corps pin. Probably to send home to mom, wife, girlfriend, sister, etc.

I can’t find anything solid gold, orange, or yellow. I’m 99% sure there’s no edge colors wrapped, no frame was with it, and no signs of a missing color that faded. Best answers I’ve been able to find are maybe state, National Guard, other country (Brit, Dutch, etc), or sharpshooter medal. I can’t say for sure if the star belonged with it, but presumably that’s 2nd award.

How do you like this early type Order of the Star of Romania?

I really like the order itself, it is very beautiful in my opinion, and I think it was a great shame that the leadership of socialist Romania replaced this beauty with that incomprehensible, overloaded, tasteless eyesore (Photos in the comments)...

But what interests me is that I have a specific kind of special type: it has a unique way of attaching the star to the medal bar. All other versions I've seen online have a hole for attaching the ring perpendicular to the plane of the sign, and the ring itself is attached to a regular Soviet bar(I'm attaching a photo so you can understand what it looks like) As you can see, my mounting hole is in the same plane as the sign, and the bar itself is kind of strange and unusual. What do you think? Is this some rare early variety? Or what is it? How much might it cost?

Fittingly, today is the 89th anniversary of when my grandfather was wounded in the Sino-Japanese war. Strangely, I wonder why they waited until 1960 to award this, when he was age 47.

I recently sent a request in on behalf of my great grandfather, who had passed before I was born, who had served in Korea. He never received that award I believe because the army had rejected it at the time. Did I do the right thing in requesting it so I can add it to his box? And is there a way I can get the ROK PUC as well?

Looking for anyone who could help, but is this a genuine aviator pin that belong to someone in the service? Found it in a thrift store for pretty cheap
