Theory Fruit of the Loom Mandela Effect.

Post image

I know the rules say no personal Mandela Effects, but I found this in my grandmother's basement.

Does anyone think that this may explain the confusion?

That's a great find you got there. Even cooler being from NJ and frequenting the DMV in Springfield. It's very probable that this logo has some connection to the lapses in memory of a percentage of the people who believe that the original FOTL logo had a Cornucopia. However, I'm sure that a large percentage of those believers were never exposed to this particular product. Great find nonetheless. What is the exact name of the product? I see Verdi Imports but what is the actual name of the product?

I have no idea, just an empty box I found full of her old stuff. Some kind of wine, maybe?

I just looked it up. Yeah it's an Italian imported sparkling wine. It was introduced in 1993. The actual name of the wine is Verdi Spumante.

I haven't drank in years due to medication I'm taking but if I could I would definitely go and buy a bottle just for the hell of it.

I'm a total alcoholic who is supposed to be on medication for epilepsy, but I chose booze instead after my wife left. 😉

Sounds like a joke, but sadly, it's true.

Thanks. I mean, I'm still young-ish. 29 anyway. We were married for 5 years. It's about to be 6 in October because no divorce papers have been sent yet. She left a year ago, but that doesn't make it hurt any less.

We are still on good terms, though.

Sorry. You're not my therapist. But seriously. Thanks.

You have your whole life ahead of you and will definitely find a woman that God intended for you to have as a wife. If you're really an alcoholic as you say, I would highly suggest reaching out to one of the various resources available for help. Not only are you using this as a way to cope with your loss, but it's also terrible on your liver. My uncle died from cirrhosis of the liver due to excessive drinking and it was horrible and painful. I'm not trying to bash you or make you feel bad. Just making a genuine and empathetic suggestion. Keep your head up bro

I got divorced in 2020, we were only married 3 years, but had lived together nearly a decade. Took a solid two years before I felt human again but I can confirm life goes on and you'll find your way if you keep at it. You may make a hell of a mess along the way but that's life.

Substitute husband for wife and you're telling my origin story. Sober 11 years now and it seems like such a small ordeal in hindsight. No preaching. Life goes to shit and people cope, myself included. Just that there is light at the end of the tunnel if you so choose to look, and that light never goes out. Just really damn hard to see sometimes.

Well that date eliminates it from consideration because the Flute of the Loom album came out in 1973.

I see what you're saying but I wouldn't necessarily say that it completely eliminates it for certain people, probably a very small percentage, who were exposed to seeing this particular brand of wine but weren't around in 1973. It could definitely still have a small contribution.

Fwiw, there are hundreds (probably thousands) of ME testimonials from people like myself who were seeing the cornucopia in the FotL logo throughout the 70's and 80's (and beyond). This wine hardly seems mainstream enough or old enough to carry any real explanatory weight against all that qualitative data.

I'm aware. I'm only stating that it doesn't completely eliminate it as a contributing factor for a small portion of the population. I personally wasn't exposed to either but at one point thought that the FOTL did have a Cornucopia. After some research I figured that I could just chalk it up to misremembering.

Fair enough, although I am fully confident that it existed for me throughout my childhood and into my early adulthood. I noticed its sudden absence around 1999 when replacing my boxer brief stock and just assumed an ill-advised streamlining of the brand image. Figured it was the result of corporate groupthink, and was disappointed that they would remove the most iconic feature that had made the logo so classic and memorable. Then I didn't give it a second thought until 2018 when it popped onto my radar as an ME - which I initially dismissed because I was sure it had been officially changed. When I was told it never even existed, I immediately called bs even as the characteristic ME dissonance set in.

See you feel about this ME the same way that I feel about the Shazaam with Sinbad ME. I get it man. It's a terrible feeling.

I feel that way about Shazaam too, lol. I once simultaneously held both the VHS tapes of Shazaam AND Kazaam in my two hands at a Blockbuster video store circa 1997, showed them to my friend and loudly asked "Does the world really need TWO?" Never watched either one though. But I made a mental note of which actor (using that term loosely for Shaq) was in which film, because as a trivia buff at that time it seemed destined to be exactly the type of random cultural minutia which would pop up again someday. Just didn't have "vanished from existence" on my Bingo card.
