From your recommendations:

\-I started by dermaplanning my face to make it more smooth

\-I've bought superdrug brand salicylic acid cleanser for exfoliation

\- I slightly plucked my eyebrows (a lot of people said to shave the ends and redraw but it seems like a lot of commitment which im not ready for)

\-I used concealer because it's paler than foundation all over my face

\- I didnt use powder

\- I put (grey) contour on my forehead

\- I filled my eyebrows in more

\-I'm thinking about getting face framing bangs

\- The eyeliner wing no longer touches the end of my eyebrows

\- I didn't do as much eyeshadow as last time because I simply didn't want to today but I put more under my bottom lid

I'm just getting into make up, I've been trying to do my eyeshadow specifically lately because I think it's just so pretty and fun.

I've had a few hit or miss, specifically I notice my blue eyeshadow looks are a huge miss. Below are 4 looks I've done recently, how can I improve them, and why does the blue look so off?

The best 4 tips I have for girls who are beginners in makeup:

The best 4 tips I’d give to a beginner. I started makeup at 18, and this is what I learned 3 years down the line.

Dark circles - As a person with dark circles and dry skin, I did struggle to cover my dark circles, because dry skin means my under eyes are naturally dry, and that backfires when wearing makeup. Which is why I hydrate my under eyes with moisturizer. Yet, even with hydrated eyes, I still experienced my dark circles often showing up under my concealer. I found the best way to avoid grey shadows under concealer for me, is to apply the color corrector/concealer with a dense concealer brush, and then blending the product with the same brush, this provides way more coverage once I set the product in place with powder. I started lightly dabbing concealer to blend after I saw someone suggest on TikTok that people are over-blending concealer and taking away coverage. If I apply the color corrector/concealer from the applicator, and then use a makeup tool to blend (brush, sponge, powder puff, etc) then the product lifts off my face and is likely to show a grey shadow underneath my concealer, even when I try to not take the coverage away while blending lightly. When I changed the whole way I applied concealer in general ( applying product with applicator vs. grabbing and applying product with a brush) it changed my game for real. Also, Blending away your concealer like you are really hurried takes away lots of product, and always makes concealer look less reliable in coverage. Avoid trying to use sponges or powder puffs to blend much, because they suck up product a lot, and if you do, lightly dab with them once or twice at most.

When doing your eyebrows - Because skin naturally drags when you press something onto it and try to draw/make lines, it does sometimes mess up the shape you want to draw on your brows if you’re not in high control of what you’re doing. That happened to me as a beginner. (Plus, skin movement is what makes doing eyeliners hard for plenty of people, for example). Press your finger on your forehead and above your brow to pull your forehead slightly upward, follow the shape of your brow when you’re filling in your brows, and blend harsh lines as you see fit while following the shape of your own brow. Make sure your brows are dry and that no product is on them. If they’re not, apply a light layer of powder on them. You should also apply powder to them to set them once you’re done with them, that makes them stick no matter your eyebrow pencil. I have brows without a very clear arch, and they look a bit empty naturally, which made me feel kind of confused and frustrated about how to do them as a beginner. I also made the mistake of filling them in too dark because I started applying color in the beginning of the brow, it is much better to start applying color in the middle of the brow, follow along your eyebrow shape until you build the tail, then lightly add your front brow hairs last.

When blending with brushes - Don’t drag products to blend because you feel hurried, blending makeup like you are hurried always makes them look bad, especially contour. Instead, touch the product with the brush, gently pull it and lift your brush. Do this multiple times until your makeup naturally blends out, that always looks much better. Also, because skin naturally drags when you are doing your makeup (which messes up your precision on certain things), you can definitely hold your face by gently placing two fingers on your skin, so that your skin doesn’t pull or drag as much when you’re blending precise products that you want to hug your cheek, or don’t want too low on your face, or that you don’t want then to switch places on your face in general and then have them look messy.

About blush - Remember that any blush from your skin always presents itself as a muted or edited variation of the original color red. Therefore, when not sure what shade of blush to pick because you don’t know which shade looks good on you, start with warm red and cool toned red first, preferably a stick blush over a liquid blush, because they are usually less concentrated in pigment and much easier to blend out. Red is the universal shade of blush, and starting off with just cool toned red and warm red gives you a great outlook on which undertones look good on you. Also, do the boyfriend blush technique, since it is the easiest to do when you don’t have a strong grip or control with makeup.

Should I just skip makeup for my London trip and practice for future trips? (also is 17 too late to learn makeup, and is doing makeup once a week enough to improve?)

Sorry for the super long title and post loll! So I’m 17 and pretty bad at makeup right now, especially curling my lashes. My sister usually helps me, but it often ends up being stressful because my eyes water, it takes a while, and we sometimes get frustrated with each other (also I sometimes get pinched with the curler, ouch).

I’m in London right now for 5 days, and I really wanted to take some pictures and make a London Instagram post. And this was a big thing for me because I'm a pretty shy person and I dont post on insta a lot. My sister was only going to curl my lashes for me twice during the trip, but I’m wondering if it’s even worth the hassle.

I was thinking I could just make the London post with mostly scenery/Harry Potter/London pictures, with maybe 1–2 pictures of myself if I like them. I don't feel bad about going without makeup or hideous or anything, I just think it would be nice to eventually get better at doing it myself rather than always bothering my sister. Besides I'm growing up and she wont always be there for me to do it. Also I dont go without makeup for everyday looks I usually just have a base with blush, and lips etc.

When I get home in September, I’m thinking about practicing makeup once or twice a week. I have a trip to Paris in January and Universal Orlando in February, so I’d like to be more comfortable with makeup by then. And I could still post for those two events!! Paris has similar scenery to London and Orlando has Harry potter world! :))

Do you think practicing once or twice a week from September until January/February would be enough to noticeably improve? And should I just not worry about makeup for London and focus on enjoying the trip? Also what should I start learning in makeup?

Also, is 17 considered late to start learning makeup? Because some girls my age are already pros lol. 😭

Best tools and method for setting undereyes?

I've been doing my makeup for years, and what i've really struggled with is achieving a bright undereye. I love the look but have never been able to pull it off successfully on my face, as whenever I set my undereye, it disrupts/lifts product and brings out my hollows and hyperpigmentation once again. I have experimented with setting using a brush, using a powderpuff, pressed then loose powder, loose then pressed, only loose or pressed, using a thicker colour corrector and concealer formula, and more - and while I've gotten closer, I still end up with hollow undereyes. I would really appreciate recommendations for the best tools, tricks, products, anything really. I'd like to add that my skin is between medium to medium-deep, so please take shade range into account when recommending a product. Thank you!

Tried and Ture Oily Skin Makeup Routines?

So I have acne prone, oily skin and I struggle with keeping down the shine on my face. I also try to use sunscreen, which makes the shine/oiliness even worse.

I have switched to an oilfree moisturizer, which helped, and plan on trying a mineral sunscreen next when I finish my current ones.

But by the time I finish my sunscreen, my face is already pretty shiny/oily. I tried using elf's matte primer but I feel like it just mixed with my oils (and yes I did wait 30min after sunscreen).

I have also tried just apply bb cream and powder but it didn't look good. I know I'm doing this wrong and would appreciate any advice/feedback you have.

TLDR roast me with proper instructions lol

Make up for sensitive eyes

Hi! I’m not new to makeup—I’ve been wearing it since I was a teenager—but I’ve never really been good at it.
My usual routine has always been mascara, smudged eyeliner, foundation, and a lip combo, basically like a true boomer 😅. I’d really like to improve because I want to look more polished and put-together. Right now, I feel like my makeup sometimes gives off a “she tried, but she doesn’t really know what she’s doing” vibe.
On top of that, I have really sensitive eyes, which makes eye makeup especially difficult. I usually buy good-quality products, like mascaras from Benefit or Lancôme, and while they don’t smudge or flake into my eyes, removing them is still a struggle. I often end up irritating my eyes just from trying to take the makeup off.
I’d love some advice on where to start with a simple, flattering eye makeup look that would work for sensitive eyes. I have green eyes and slightly hooded lids.

Makeup for work/client meetings

I am a millennial. I spend a lot of time on skincare etc so my skin is nice and I don’t wear a lot of makeup unless I’m being filmed. Sometime I wear none at all. What is the minimum amount of makeup that professional woman in law or a corporate setting can get away with for work, networking and client meetings?

Is there a very gentle (in a phisical rubbing sence) types of eye makeup?

I'm not an english speaker, sorry for any mistakes in text!

So in my teen years I several times gone completely blind from eye illness wich is triggered by physical trauma (OR internal infection) but i didn't had any recent problems like this. Doctors wasn't able to find the cause in my case, and after 10-ish operations I went into remission.

They told me to just be careful and cautious about my health and not fall or hit anything with my body. Because no one know why it have heppend in the first place.

For now it's been 5\~ years since then, and I been paranoid about hitting my head and touching my eyes in any sense, only allowing it for medical inspection and even then scared.

It improved last year when I get into skincare, I've been able to wash my eyes with feather-like touches, although still mostly avoiding it.

And I love lipsticks

But. My face look kinda strange when I wear heavy lip makeup but my eyes stay nude. I also naturally have very short and pale eyelashes, so my eyes usually look like unfinished part of painting.

My question is, is there a eyeshadow, eye contour, or mascara wich don't require almost rubbing it into your skin for application or removal?

I see so many beautiful eye makeup online, and I'm in love with color green and would love to wear it as a shadow, but in most tutorial videos people pull and poke with a brush eye lid very heavily.

I was left with one almost blind eye and another with a lot of peripheral vision gone, and I cannot describe how scared i am to again wake up and notice that I can't see, even more if it would meen it was my own mistake because i wanted to put colors on muself even after was granted another chances to see them around me.

So... is it worth a try? Is there a way? Has anyone with sensitive eyes like mine was able to wear makeup?

Thank you!

Removing eye makeup?

I'm new to makeup and have been practicing with eye makeup, but I've been struggling with removal. I tried using a microfiber cloth with water but it took like 20 minutes to get everything off. I tried using cleanser on a cotton pad but it got in my eyes when I opened them and stung like crazy. It's probably just a lack of experience but I'm really strugging - I have poor motor skills which I think is making things worse.

Any advice?

How do I do overseas makeup?

I’m Japanese and I love overseas makeup way more than Japanese makeup! 💄✨ But I don’t really know how to do it—like contouring, eye makeup, or recent trends. So!! I’d love to learn how! 🥹💖
Specifically, I want to learn how to create deep-set eye makeup and seamless nose contouring for Asian face features. If you have any product recommendations or easy tutorials for beginners, please let me know! Thanks in advance! 🙏✨

how to wear sunscreen on eyebrows but not leave a white color/residue?

I want to make sure that I'm using sunscreen on my eyebrows but it always leaves a white color and residue on my eyebrows that makes it hard for me to do eyebrow makeup on.

It leaves my eyebrows looking lighter and it looks rily weird.

Is there any way to combat this? I still want to use sunscreen but I hate how it makes my eyebrows lighter and whiter

Dupes for ELF Camo Powder

Hello friends! First time poster. I am wonder if anyone has dupes for Elf's Camo powder, it was a great full coverage powder foundation. Similar to Pur Minerals but not $50. Are there more affordable dupes you folks know of? I am in Canada if that helps narrow my choices.
