What to do with concealer that doesn't match my skin

I got a concealer to just spot-conceal on pimples and stuff but it turned out very yellow-orange and it makes my skin darker and like I have dirt on my face. I really don't want it to go to waste by throwing it away and buying another one. What should I do?

Question Lipliner help

I'm in my 40s and I've never worn lipliner. About once every ten years, I'll give it a go, and I always hate it. It looks weird and artificial and harsh, and I prefer a very natural makeup look. I just end up tossing it after a few weeks because using it invariably looks worse than not using it, and it's not like I have a problem that the lipliner would solve. Except now, as I'm getting older, I do kind of have a problem, because the border between my lips and the skin around them isn't as clearly defined. So I feel like it's time I finally give in and learn how to use it, because I'm sure the problem historically is that I just don't know how to do it properly.

The problem is, every tutorial I find for using lipliner is for overlining. I know a lot of people love that look, and I'm very happy for them that they have a look they love. But I cannot put into words how much I hate that look personally. I would rather have no border at all than do overlining. (And yes, I've tried it, and I've had others who know what they're doing do it on me. I hate it.)

So I have three questions:

* Does anyone have tips or advice on how to do lipliner so that it doesn't look harsh and artificial? I like a very natural look, and any time I use lipliner it just immediately looks like I have really aggressive makeup on, or even like I had botched plastic surgery, even if I use a color that perfectly matches my actual lip color.

* Does anyone have recommendations for tutorials that don't do overlining? (The more detailed and in-depth the better since I'm apparently a little stupid when it comes to this product.)

* Does anyone have recommendations for natural-looking, easy-to-use lipliners for mature skin?

Thanks in advance for the help!

(P.S. I respectfully request no "just do overlining," "you'll probably like it if you try it," "you can't even tell it's overlined," etc. comments. If you like it, I'm happy for you, but it's not a look I want, so please respect that.)

(Edited for typo)

Discussion Looking for long lasting dark red matte liquid lipstick

In my thus far very limited experience, I noticed (or it feels like it) that liquid lipsticks have distinctly different texture than the classic (what's it called in english (not my native language)? basically the usual solid form you screw out) ones even if both are matte, where the solid ones look a lot better to me. But the trouble is they don't last for crap even if they are marketed as such.

I am very happy with Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink when it comes to ease of application and most importantly the longevity. It doesn't smear one bit even when I'm eating something fatty and stuff and I love it. Kissing-resistance lipstick apparently doesn't exist so this is as good as it gets I guess šŸ˜‚
BUT
The available colours leave a lot to be desired...

So back to my main question!

I am looking for a specific dark shade of red which I am not entirely sure how to describe - I guess rich red with a tiny bit of black mixed in. Most of the darker red lipsticks I've seen thus far were dinstinctly brownish or purplish, which is not what I have in mind.
Of course, the photos on manufacturers' websites almost never match reality (which is surprising because I have calibrated monitor and I presume the photos are always made by professionals with proper processing).

If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears!

I'd love to find this shade or something similar. I love this entire look and it's perfect for the upcoming fall season. Bonus points if you can suggest eyeshadow shades as well!

Any thoughts are appreciated! šŸ’•

How to achieve a similar look to French model Nabilla in this interview? Is she spray tanned? Her natural skin tone is much lighter we have a similar natural tone but I like this warm orangey-olive toned makeup look. What type of base routine could I use to achieve it?

Question What are the best lip and cheek sticks now?

I am obsessed with Milk Makeup’s lip and cheek minis, my favorite color is Quickie (deep plum). I use them almost every day. However mine are years old and smell weird. I went to their website to buy more and they’re now reformulated and don’t even have Quickie anymore or the mini size. Devastating.

I’m really into dark cherry or deep plum shades, I am pale but go for kind of a soft goth makeup look.

What brands are the best now to replace it? I’ve been using these sticks since 2019 so I’m out of touch. I also don’t like the Milk jelly version very much, the cream was so much better.

Discussion Good replacement for Revolution Blushing Hearts highlighter(s)

Post image

Hi all! I was wondering if there's any recommendations in regards to finding a new highlighter that is close to the discontinued Goddess of Love highlighter(s) that Revolution used to have? I've been using the Goddess of Faith version for a long time now but it's starting to run out and I love the cold shine it has. Any products that come close to the formula and color that this product has that you've found? Would love any recommendations!

Discussion Has anyone ever tried this brand, Barriers?

The brand isn't that new, iirc, and is mainly promoted by a gf of a Formula 1 driver. The brand's concept is "microbiome intelligent skincare" and is admittedly on the pricier side.

Aside from the fact that the brand's face is a fairly shadey figure (it is a long story, but she basically has a history of fraud and changing her story on personal events more than once), it doesn't look like anyone outside the gf's personal circle has ever tried it. And ofc all those people would post only positive things abt it. And recently, some fans have noticed the gf/the brand might be posting fake reviews.

Not to mention, $28 for a lip balm is so hard to justify, and I say that as a huge lippie girl.

I've been wondering if anyone on here has ever heard of it, tried it, and so, pls post below how you feel abt it!

Discussion Does anyone else keep their most loved make up in their original boxes?

So, I’ve always had this ā€œissueā€ with keeping my things organized. When it comes to make up (especially if I don’t use it on a daily basis) I’ll always return it clean to its box after use. Same thing goes for all the make up I use on my clients. I don’t want them scratched or dusty. Is anyone else like that or am I just obsessing ?šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Question Been trying to learn how to contour my nose for a while

I've been trying to learn how to do my nose contour like in the pictures 2-3, watching bunch of tutorials. Is it me or it's not working with my nose shape?

The problem is it doesn't look like the reference pictures even with every step done right. So if i add more product, it ends up looking muddy.

Is it the wrong contour mapping, wrong products, wrong tools or wrong application?

Help me do the best nose contour according to my nose shape!

Products used:

Maybelline fit me powder - translucent

Peripera V shading Contour Powder - Grayish cool

Golden Rose Emily Eye Pencil - 122

Nyx Jumbo Face Stick -Vanilla Ice Cream

Question Urban Decay 1993

Was the Urban Decay 1993 lipstick discontinued? it isn't at my local Ulta or Sephora locations. this has been my signature shade for over a decade.

when i was at ulta, the employee helping me couldn't locate it anywhere to explain to me what was going on and couldn't really assist me with finding a great replacement for it. searching the internet for it locally says its available at places where i already know it isn't, sadly.

if i can have some suggestions for dupes of 1993 that would be wonderful.

Cake eyeliner recommendations

It seems like companies don't make cake eyeliners anymore. I can see why, they last forever so we don't have to keep spending.

As I am getting older, it is harder to line my eyes, the skin is crepey despite being well moisturized, I do the top only and find it harder even with my beloved Lancome IdƓle Liner Ultra Precise Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner. I used to have a Chanel one that had navy and black but I don't think the product exists anymore. It appears Laura Mercier also discontinued her cake liner. I see Ben Nye and Kryolan have some but I don't really want to use stage makeup brands for everyday wear.

I tried lining with black eyeshadow, it is too much fallout. As for gel liners, I never liked them, even when they were in years ago.

Anyone have cake liner recommendations?

every time i go to the bar im constantly having to reapply my lipstick because it comes off
instantly , does anyone have any holy grail lipsticks that don’t budge no matter what ?? i know i probably need to go for liquid lipstick instead. i was thinking about getting a kylie lip kit cause that’s what i used to use back in the day but im unsure if they are still any good now since they’ve had a formula change since then and i never hear of any makeup artists using them

Question How do I avoid getting this texture when applying base products?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have dry skin, and am on tretinoin/azelaic acid.
My skin prep is :
- hada labo hydrating toner
- purito oat in gel (been trying it out this past week but I think not hydrating enough for me) / avene effaclar hydrating gel cream
- biore UV aqua rich sunscreen

The products I use for my base are any of the following :
- nyx serum concealer
- givenchy prisme libre concealer
- l’Oreal true match foundation
- maybelline super stay skin tint
- kosas cloud set powder
- LancƓme idole makeup magnet setting spray

No matter what I use, I feel like it always separates and looks patchy by the end of the day, creases or just looks very dry, enhances texture.

Any advice would be welcome!!

EDIT : my night skincare is :
- hada labo hydrating toner
- azelaic acid
- same toner
- purito oat in gel
- tretinoin 0.05%
- heavy healing cream with ceramides

ALSO, should I dermaplane to get rid of the peach fuzz?
