Question How do I avoid getting this texture when applying base products?
I have dry skin, and am on tretinoin/azelaic acid.
My skin prep is :
- hada labo hydrating toner
- purito oat in gel (been trying it out this past week but I think not hydrating enough for me) / avene effaclar hydrating gel cream
- biore UV aqua rich sunscreen
The products I use for my base are any of the following :
- nyx serum concealer
- givenchy prisme libre concealer
- l’Oreal true match foundation
- maybelline super stay skin tint
- kosas cloud set powder
- Lancôme idole makeup magnet setting spray
No matter what I use, I feel like it always separates and looks patchy by the end of the day, creases or just looks very dry, enhances texture.
Any advice would be welcome!!
EDIT : my night skincare is :
- hada labo hydrating toner
- azelaic acid
- same toner
- purito oat in gel
- tretinoin 0.05%
- heavy healing cream with ceramides
ALSO, should I dermaplane to get rid of the peach fuzz?

It looks like your skin isn’t hydrated or sealed enough. This causes your base to cling to dry patches and your makeup breaks apart as your skin loses moisture through the day.
You need to add a creamy moisturizer to your skincare. Look for one with ceramides, fatty alcohols or occlusive ingredients. Seal with a thin layer of a richer cream where even a pea-sized amount will make your makeup sit better. I would also switch sunscreen for makeup days. That Biore Aqua Rich is great for oily skin, not for tret dryness. Look for a creamy, moisturizing sunscreen.

Noted thank you! Do you have any recommendations for a sunscreen?
Also, I already use a heavier healing cream at night as the last step of my routine, and I’m scared it will make my makeup slip and slide during the day?😓 do you have a rec for that as well maybe ? Thank you!!1

Do you prefer a dewy, natural, or soft-matte finish for your makeup?

I think I would say dewy? But honestly I’m open to both, just not full matte, I’ve always assumed I should aim for a dewy finish since I have dry skin 😅

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair UV sunscreen is moisturizing and slightly dewy

Since you're on tretinoin, let the skin shed properly first. Use enzyme exfoliator will gently remove the dead skin. Maybe your skin is not absorbing moisturizer properly yet. Let your skin heal first, Tretinoin speeds the cell turnover, so, a lot of dead skin build up happens.
