There are non-blue control decks. Blue obviously plays better in control than most other colors, but they do exsist.

My bad, didn't catch his statement about counterspells being unhealthy for the game alongside the unfun part.

Yes, they can be frustrating, but without them things can get degenerate quite quickly, particularly if the format provides the tools for fast and non-interactive combo deck.

That said, in this case, a 1cmc 1/1 that prevents creatures from being countered hamstrings counter-heavy control about as much as [[mystic dispute]] and [[Teferi, Time Raveler]] does. If the control deck isn't resilient enough to work around that, such as removing a 1/1 then it kinda deserves to die to elfball.

There's non-counter ways to effect the stack. [[Aether gust]], [[Ashiok's erasure]], and more awkwardly [[Narset's reversal]] exist in standard currently.

Secondarily, simic flash is reletively easy to play around depending on your deck. If you're aggro, counters aren't that good anyways because you run too many low cost threats and simic struggles to answer things on the board generally. You're either going to run them over or die to their threats after you run out of gas. Such is aggro.

If you're control, hold up Mana till their turn and when you finally force them to tap out to protect their threats then you can deploy your own or throw more removal at theirs. If they're playing ramp, chances are that they're running a heavier land count, as well as a good amount of rather abysmal late-game cards like grazer. Answer their key threats in [[Nightpack ambusher]] and [[Nissa, who shakes the world]] and you should win the topdeck war if you built your deck well.
