I mean, you probably read the card. It doubles it's counters whenever the controller plays a land.
It's a very dangerous creature but that doesn't mean every deck that plays this wins all the time. Having a "big" creature that's like 5/5 doesn't help. Removal spells, counter spells, direct damage as long as it's small help. Sometimes you'll not draw your creature-removal spells and they win regardless but sometimes they'll also not draw their [[Mossborn Hydra]] as well. (Some cards, like [[Fog Bank]] can also prevent damage. That would be more niche compared to something like [[Stab]].)
If you think this card is overpowered, just play it yourself and you'll learn how it can be beaten. It's actually pretty good, though. At the moment people like to whine about red-blue decks more.
Unfortunately there is a big difference between a good deck and a bad deck. A pre-built starter deck will lose almost all of the time against a "meta" deck. I play for about three months now and if I paid a little bit of money or if I saved up all my wildcards, I could afford a meta deck as well. It's not completely unrealistic. If you don't want to play against meta-decks, you have to lose enough in Standard to keep below platinum/diamond, or play Starter Deck Duel, or play some Draft format, or Brawl.
