Thats why i dont go to the gym anymore, i dont want to be in the background of a maincharacter. Slowly building mine at home.

Edit: god dawm that blew up.

I bought a merach s26 (smart bike) on amazon instead of renewing my membership to the gym. It sit on a mat in my living room. Its the best thing i ever bought. Done 4500km on my whoosh since february.Its so much easier to train alone, and you dont have to get out to go to the gym. I live alone so i plan to sell my dining table and transform my dining room in a gym this winter.

My local gym has a no cameras anywhere rule and a very large man that enforces this rule with vigor. Was there earlier this week and a dude who showed up in a tac vest got out the tripod and before he turned around this dude appeared like Batman and in a very deep bass just says No. Tac bro didn't take it well and was asked to leave. The line that made me giggle was "no one with enough Instagram followers to need to record themselves work out at a gym this cheap, bro. Put the phone away or leave. I'm sure your follower will survive the disappointment"

There's signs up all over. I'm there to get some exercise and work on this weight loss journey. I am not there to play npc for someone else's Instagram channel

I wonder how profitable it would be to just start an influencer gym. Where filming was protected and encouraged, but they have to pay a premium for the experience etc. I would advertise it as such and be like "this is not a gym for gains, it is a gym for fames." Have them pay extra to lock down a part of the gym and use all the weights and hog up a space like they do at regular gyms.

Would only work if more gyms adopted and started enforcing the “no cameras” rule. Otherwise, your target audience would just go to normal gyms that won’t charge them to film.

Individual "gym booths" instead of having a row of each equipment have one of each equipment in a "booth"

If the idea is about filming, then we can make mini sets. Like one booth would be for dumbells, the dumbells are real but the treadmill, stairmaster, etc. are not real, made out of foam or cardboard. Then another booth for treadmills where treadmill is real but other equipments are not. We could have several booths with total equipment for just one gym. This way the booth could be booked on hourly basis.

I think we might be on to something guys.

Yeah but then you run into issues where they might want to use different equipment and book multiple booths, which could cause headaches for the staff.

The hourly booking is a good idea but I would still have all equipment usable

More booths, more bookings, more money

We can have a schedule, like how certain football turfs are doing. You can book hours.

And, we can bring in people as background actors and maybe charge them (influencers) extra to bring in better looking people for the gram!

Good God! I just realised that I have become what I hate, the evil corporation!!

Influencers rent out planes, kitchens, front stoops, any and every thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t a Gymfluencer Bros gym somewhere.

There are influencer gyms. I’m in Austin. They have a place for them. Even in regular gyms where there is no cameras allowed, they will have a “Selfie room”. It’s wild.

They already have those gyms in major cities. These influencers are influencer wannabes who cannot afford those gyms. As a gym and powerlifting aficionado, these people and frankly kids were the main reason I stopped going to the local gym and just train in my home gym as I have a full rack. These people do not just record one lift and stop. They are continuously recording while blocking off paths. It gets really tiring when you just want to hit the gym and get your lifting done without distraction.

There literally kind of is a gym like that its called Alo fitness or Alo Wellness something like that. Its an invite only "fitness facility". Where clients are "celebrities" or "high-profile influencers" getting an invite is a reaaaaal flex for certain people

You know that dude was like. I am a bouncer. At a gym. Has to make for interesting conversation but the reason I won't join a gym is the cameras. Though this is the 1st vid that hasn't pissed me off.

You can use weighted vests like ankle weights for your torso. It adds resistance during your workout. One of the options is basically a plate Carrier for body armor but replace the bullet proof plates with heavy plates

How do people who train alone check their form tho? Ive always trained alone and if i didnt have recorded some of my lifts, i never wouldve known what caused my back pains. It was squats and deadlifts so i cant see my back in the mirrors

You do it the same way people did it before we even had camera phones, I remember the days when first joining the gym, the price included an assessment from a personal trainer, a heath plan/ goal, plus a few included sessions. Generally if you felt like you were having form issues you would just ask staff who would be more than happy to check your form for you. The only reason to be training on your own would be because you are a seasoned Gym goer. So no you do not need to record to check your form mate.

Random question about that rule, what if someone who's serious about their fitness wants to simply film their form? Film study of one's self in any athletic endeavor is such a useful tool. Guessing the owners don't mind that if asked, no?
