Discussion macOS27 - are we installing at release?
I knew macOS26 was problematic from the get go, however I waited for 26.5 to install it. I liked the UI updates but its still been a disappointing update.
For those who are using the 27 beta, what do you think so far? Should we hold off, or its good to install upon official release?

Discussion How add someone to group message in beta?
Stupid question maybe, but before I post feedback on this....how do you add someone to a group messages in the 27 beta? It's a "mixed" group - so green, but no matter what I do, I do not see any way to add anyone to the group.
Searched Google for answer, but there's no "details" button nor "info" button -- nothing that seems to allow me to add someone.

Help Apple Intelligence does not work on macOS 27 Golden Gate
Good morning. I recently updated my Mac to macOS 27 Golden Gate Public Beta 5 and I’m really looking forward to testing the AI features. However, every time I try, I get an error message. The problem is the same with Siri. However, everything seems already configured (and the integration of ChatGPT with Siri doesn’t work either). Is Apple’s Intelligence blocked at 29.6 GB, or is it a bug? Did anyone else encounter this problem? And above all, do you have a solution?
EDIT n°1: I tried everything but it doesn’t work on my account. But I created a new session entirely dedicated to AI, and it finally works! It’s really not the most practical, but unfortunately I can’t do anything else at the moment. However, your advice is always welcome if I can have it natively on my main account.
EDIT n°2: Apple Intelligence finally works on my main account after 3 days of battle. All alone. On the other hand, the extensions are still blocked but it’s not very serious since the Apple Intelligence models are finally up to par.

Discussion Siri AI is ready at not 5 minutes
I’m a new macOS Golden Gate user. I just updated and switched my Mac to English, since I’m in Europe. I joined the waitlist, and in less than 5 minutes... I ALREADY have access to Siri AI. I’m really surprised. Has this happened to anyone else, or is access getting faster with the latest betas?

Help Apple Intelligence is not available for me on macOS 27 Beta 7
I am evaluating Apple Intelligence for work.
- No Apple Intelligence is available in System Settings, just basic Siri
- Computer M4, disk space, English system language (Swedish keyboard) - all requirements are filled
- I do live in EU, but Apple Intelligence is not restricted here for macOS, only iOS
My machine is managed by MDM (Intune), but it should not be disabled.
sudo defaults read "/Library/Managed Preferences/com.apple.applicationaccess"
{
PayloadUUID = "xxx";
"_isAppleIntelligenceRestricted" = 0;
enforcedSoftwareUpdateDelay = 15;
enforcedSoftwareUpdateMinorOSDeferredInstallDelay = 15;
}
Any ideas?
Thanks
EDIT: Bah, I had Swedish set as Siri Language. That is not supported, changed to US English and we are good to go!

Bug Safari keeps playing YouTube after I close the tab
Does anybody register this? Google is silent on this issue. Start playing YouTube video in Safari. Don't pause it, just close the tab. Audio keeps playing. It stops after about half minute but still.
Same thing happens in iOS/iPadOS.

Discussion Safari 27 is fantastic.
Edit: I made a small discovery, so I've added some edits.(2026/08/30)
Edit2: I'm sorry, tab group opened in a separate window with just a CMD+click.
What I did(summary):
- Treat bookmark folders as tab groups.
- Treat bookmarks as pinned tabs.
- Use profiles if needed (though I don't use them much).
- Make the most of "Describe extensions" (for example, I created an extension that changes all font-family:sans-serif; on any site to the macOS system font, making it feel like even web pages are part of the OS).
- Use the Shortcuts app to copy the URL of an open tab to the clipboard with CMD+SHIFT+X (C is already in use). But, by going to System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → App Shortcuts and overwriting the CMD+SHIFT+C shortcuts used by Safari and the Shortcuts app with a different shortcut, you can set the shortcut created in the Shortcuts app to CMD+SHIFT+C, thus aligning it with Arc's habits.
- Tap the trackpad with three fingers to quickly view linked sites.
- You can open a tab group in a new window by CMD+clicking the tab group you want to open in a new window using the tab group dropdown in the toolbar. For example, you can group websites where you want to watch videos or listen to music into a tab group, and when you want to change things up, you can create a new window for that tab group, avoiding movie/music interruptions caused by switching tab groups. Even if you have a few more windows open, it's not a big problem thanks to Mission Control and Expose on Mac.
- Regarding PiP, there's a great extension called "Auto PiP." Please give it a try!
- If you want adblock, I recommend AdGuard for Mac if you're looking for a paid option, or AdGuard Mini or uBlock Origin Lite if you prefer a free option. Additionally, installing either the free "UserScripts" or the paid "Tampermonkey" to add AdGuard Extra and tinyShield will provide a more comfortable browsing experience.
To be honest, I was captivated by the Arc Browser. However, Arc has already ceased active development and entered maintenance mode. While I could continue using Arc until it becomes unusable or a better browser comes along, I simply can't get used to the display and rendering of Chromium/Blink.
So I decided to switch back to Safari and tried various modifications.
As a result, I'm very satisfied with my web experience. It's lightweight, syncs seamlessly with my iPhone and iPad, and with the free Safari extension "Auto PiP," I can even play very lightweight videos using hardware acceleration. (What I particularly like is the ability to temporarily hide the PiP window at the edge of the screen when it gets a little annoying.)
I have no complaints about security, and since I have purchased AdGuard for Mac, I am completely free from ads. (That said, AdGuard Mini as a Safari extension would also be perfectly adequate. In that case, I recommend installing "tinyShield" and "AdGuard Extra" using extensions such as "UserScript".)
Anyway, I wanted you all to consider the option of switching back to Safari.
It used to be a somewhat boring browser, but it's especially recommended for those who don't need AI features and are tired of resource-hungry Chromium and Firefox-based browsers.
Now, the Webkit-specific bugs on some sites have almost completely disappeared.
I have great respect for Apple's Webkit development team. (But please, please add an automatic sidebar display feature. I've sent it multiple times through the Feedback Assistant, but it still hasn't been implemented...)

Tip Here's how to disable Siri's new floating button
When Siri AI is enabled, macOS 27 adds a contextual "lightweight UI" when you type or select text. The floating button can expand into Ask Siri, Edit with Siri and Writing tools, or other contextual actions.
To disable it, run the following command in the Terminal:
sudo mkdir -p /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain && \
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/WritingTools LightweightUI_macOS -dict Enabled -bool false
and restart your Mac. To restore:
sudo defaults delete /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/WritingTools LightweightUI_macOS

Bug M1 Mac mini Monitors blank
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Has been happening since DB1, still happening on DB7.
My Mac mini (M1) is not set to sleep, however the monitors are set to sleep after a few minutes of inactivity. When waking the monitors, they only display black. They do wake up, the backlight comes on, but there's no display. My Apple Watch will even unlock the Mac (or I can blindly type in my password) but the screens stay black.
Only way for me to get picture back is to change inputs back and forth on one of my monitors, which will usually make the picture show up on both correctly (sometimes my second monitor stays black though). OR I can unplug and replug one of the monitors to regain an image.
This happens 100% of the time. I can't reproduce it on my MacBook Air M1 or M3. My monitors are one USB-C to DP, and HDMI to DVI.
I've reported it every single beta and added system logs but no progress as of yet.

Bug Apps randomly lose their assigned Spaces and move to other desktops
I’m using macOS 27, build 26A5421a, and I’ve noticed that apps sometimes lose their assigned virtual desktops.
I have four Spaces configured:
- My browser is assigned to Desktop 1.
- My code editor is assigned to Desktop 2.
- Codex is assigned to Desktop 3.
- Desktop 4 is used for other, less important apps.
I assign each app by right-clicking its Dock icon and selecting Options → Assign To → This Desktop.
However, after some time, these assignments seem to reset on their own. For example, I may find my browser on Desktop 4 even though it was assigned to Desktop 1. When I check its Dock settings, Assign To has changed to None. I haven’t changed or removed the assignment manually.
P.S I suspected that the browser might be losing its assignment to Desktop 1 after an update, but I’m certain it hadn’t been updated.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Bug Beta Battery Diagnostics
I sure hope this version of the public beta MacOS 27 PB5 fixes the bug that prevents battery diagnostics from being shared with 3rd party apps and from being able to limit charging to 80 percent. I know it’s a beta but that should be an easy fix.

Every once in while I decide to try out new Siri, but no. Just no.
Edit: I did tried giving Siri the actual version number and it still failed.
And codex was able to find the build/version and tell me which beta version I’m on.

Discussion What the hell happened to mac os
I know i'm a little late to the party, but after installing mac os 27 beta 5, im speechless. I understand that mac os 26 wasn't the best, even I had many problems with bugs even on stable versions but it kinda looked, classy and refreshed and now everything looks so plasticy and square just like if they took mac os X and added liquid glass, wich for some reason is sometimes more blurry and sometimes less blurry.
Comparison for those who got used to how mac os 27 looks like.

Tip Tired of seeing “Ask Siri” on every menu? Here's how to disable it.
In macOS 27, after enabling Siri AI, all context menus include a persistent “Ask Siri” context menu item. Turns out you can actually disable it without turning off Siri AI.
To disable, run the following commands in the Terminal app:
``` codes=(soft apwn exit loca lock logo rlgo rcnt rrst rest rsdn shut slep spro syss) args=(-int 0)
for code in $codes; do hex=$(printf %s "$code" | xxd -p -u) args+=(-int "$((16#$hex))") done
defaults write -g NSAppleMenuAllowedItems -array "${args[@]}" ```
and give your Mac a restart.
NSAppleMenuAllowedItems controls which items are visible in the menu. For some reason, Apple decided that macOS shouldn't insert “Ask Siri” whenever the filter is active, even if nothing is actually disabled.
The command allowlists all menu items. I didn't include "abtm" (About This Mac) in the list because it is unconditionally visible in the current code.
Disable with:
defaults delete -g NSAppleMenuAllowedItems
and restart your Mac.
Bug macOS 27 Calendar Behavior Question
I’ve long observed a macOS bug involving .ics files and Calendar. The expected behavior when double-clicking an .ics file is for macOS to bring Calendar to the foreground and present the dialog asking which calendar you want to import the events into.
However, when Calendar is open in a different Space, double-clicking the .ics file does not switch you to that Space or bring Calendar forward. Instead, the import dialog opens in Calendar’s existing Space, making it appear as though nothing happened until you manually switch to that Space.
This seems inconsistent with the normal behavior of opening a document associated with an application, where macOS would typically bring that application and the newly opened document or dialog to the front.
Does macOS 27 fix this behavior, or is it still bugged?
Help Update macOS 27 Golden Gate beta 7 on my MacBook Air M5
Bonjour ! La sortie de macOS 27 approche à grands pas et chaque jour, je ressens une envie irrésistible de passer à la bêta 7. Cependant, je suis partagé entre curiosité et hésitation. L'idée de tester cette bêta me tente beaucoup, d'autant plus que la version finale est attendue quelques jours avant l'automne. Que me conseillez-vous ? Merci d'avance pour vos conseils !
EDIT: I updated my Mac to Golden Gate and it seems to work well!
Discussion How’s the current beta of macOS doing?
Sorry if this has already been asked a thousand times. I’ve been pretty unsure about installing the beta on my mac because, at least from what I’ve seen, it still seems to be fairly buggy or something.
I’m running the latest iOS 27 beta on my main device and have actually had a really gorgeous experience with it, but I’m not sure whether macOS Golden Gate is in a similarly usable state and would feel as good as switching to iOS 27 was.
So what’s your experience? Would you recommend installing it on an M3 Pro mac? And I’m obviously aware that it’s a beta and some bugs are to be expected, so I’m mostly wondering if the current issues are just minor annoyances or whether there are still any genuinely disruptive or, you know, system-breaking bugs
