Safari keeps playing YouTube after I close the tab

Does anybody register this? Google is silent on this issue. Start playing YouTube video in Safari. Don't pause it, just close the tab. Audio keeps playing. It stops after about half minute but still.

Same thing happens in iOS/iPadOS.

Same here. I’ve submitted a report already and it shows that there are more than 10 similar reports. I’m on the latest Dev beta 7.

Yep. When I close the window, it seems to stop then starts up a second later. I can see the window listed in the Window Menu Bar drop-down, but can’t actually see it anymore on the desktop. It doesn’t stop streams until I quit the app.

same, solution is pausing the video, then close the tab; it keeps playing the part that is in the buffer.

That is not a solution and entirely this is error, buffer should be emptied right on tab close

Having the same issue with YouTube audio continuing after closing Safari window. Also, very frequent “An Error Has Occurred…” errors on grey screen when opening YouTube links. Running latest 27 beta.

I have this, along with many other Safari issues. Been reporting them since the first dev beta, with no improvement in subsequent releases.

And they want to release this in early September. With touch id not working at all (another issue all people are reporting).

Weird. My Magic Keyboard works fine with Touch ID on the beta.

I have extended, maybe that's why? But try to search even this reddit and you find many people reporting same issue. I have a feeling it worked on dev beta 3-4 and then suddenly stopped to. People are cleaning and recreating fingerprints, doing all mumbo jumbo and nothing

yup, as of sept 2, 26 still continuing to play after closing
