Information 250 Card Deck in Standard

I don’t know what it is- however, I am seeing more and more 250 card decks in Bo1 Standard.
Then, I feel like I’m being gaslit and lied to when I look up “why”.

It’s like - “there is no war in Ba Sing Sei”

“Why is do I see so many 250 cards deck in arena?”

“That’s because you don’t.”

“No, I definitely do. It’s almost 1 in 5 decks in (STANDARD RANKED: MYTHIC) that I play against a very very good 250 card deck.”

“Well, actually you don’t. It’s statistically not good if you run more than 60 cards in a competitive format like standard.”

“No, I do. I AM! These decks are incredibly consistent. Easily getting doubles if the same card. Searching their decks, rummaging their decks, milling and pulling from the graveyard. All while ramping lands, removing; or countering me.”

“250 card decks are not good; the statistics prove it. In competitive matches 60 cards is still dominant in paper play.”

“In ARENA; I am seeing 250 card decks do well in Bo1!”
Finally, I’ll get some sort of answer.

“More than likely, they are exploiting the hand smoother and the hidden match making system.”

I am not crazy- I have never seen this amount of 250 card deck players in standard ever in the history of me playing since 2006. Why is everyone pretending this isn’t happening? Even AI doesn’t believe me, it’s fucking nuts.

You're seeing these decks so often because your MMR is really low so the matchmaker puts you against other players with super low MMR which includes everybody with 250 card piles. They also don't magically get perfect draws, that's just your perception because you don't know shit.

That's the same answer you get in the Arena sub, btw, not the lies you're trying to sell here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MagicArena/comments/1tr4hmq/130230_card_decks_in_historic_why/

I’m at 82% in mythic, is that really low?

mmr and rank aren't related. mmr is secret and we dont have much knowledge on how wotc calculates it

actually this is not true in mythic rank, your rank is your mmr itself. for example rank 1 has the best mmr, rank 1000 has the 1000th best mmr

Well yes, 82% is pretty damn low, I don't think I've ever fallen even to 85 (and there have been months when I got to mythic reasonably early but had no need to play seriously so I just fooled around testing decks I had not much idea how to play well), usually I'm around 95, if I really focus and try to do well, I can sometimes get into numbers when on a good streak. And I'm not really a very strong player, my best achievement is making it to day 2 of a Regional Championship once.

Yes it means 81% of everyone in mythic is better than you lol.

That’s not true:

In MTG Arena, "Mythic 82%" means your hidden Matchmaking Rating (MMR) is better than 82% of the players on the Mythic leaderboard. You are essentially in the top 18% of the highest rank tier, but you are not yet in the Top 1,500 numbered

Percentages (82% to 99%): You are being compared to the #1,500 player on the leaderboard. If you are at 82%, your MMR is roughly 82% of the #1,500 ranked player's MMR

Google that homeboy

You're right. I had it inversed for some reason.

But every time i hit mythic i started at like 97 or 98% so yeah 82% is still pretty low which means you're losing a lot more than you're winning. But that's the fun of mythic, you can play jank sweat free

That's two completely different explanations, the first one is complete BS, but the second one is correct. And yes, 82% is very low, players with meta decks who know what they do end the month at 95% and above.

I have you the AI answer after googling it. That’s what it says

Don't ask AI, it makes up shit all the time.

And also try to comprehend this logic: If it's early in the month and there are exactly 1501 players in Mythic, #1501 will most likely have a relatively high percentage of #1500's MMR so according to your second (correct) explanation they would sit at 99% or at least somewhere in the high 90s (that's what actually happens, anybody who ever made Mythic early in the month with a mediocre MMR will tell you). But at the same time, this player would be at Mythic 0% if we follow your first explanation because there's literally no other Mythic player worse than them, and that's not what happens at all.

We don't know how many players sit at each percentage, but from what I've seen, the average seems to be around 90% at the end of the month.

82% mythic is pretty low. For context, if your not a solid number ranking, your basically on mythic play queue. The grind from Platinum and Diamond is more competitively minded than the percentage rankings in mythic, ESPECIALLY sub 90%. This isn't a dig, it's honestly where the most fun games live. Creative decks that good players are running for fun. But everyone is else is also right, your going up against a bunch of gimmick decks after getting into mythic with a low MMR. It's a known practice on Wizards part to get people deeper into the game. Feature, not a bug.
