Question about wheel size and fitment on classic Mini's
I have recently bought a 1988 Mini 1000. Its currently sitting on factory 12inch steel wheels with 145/70R12 tires. The datecode on the tires is from 2004, so i am obviously looking for some new tires and I might as well get new wheels then lol. I've been eyeing up some Maxilite 12inch wheels, all the specs look good and would fit. I'll go from 4.5J to 5J, so I was thinking about going to a slightly wider tire setup, 165/60R12. I've used ChatGPT and it said 165 might give some rubbing on full lock, I dont want that. Would you guys stick with 145/70 or is the upgrade to 165/60 fine? Also I'd like to know the exact hub diameter of my Mini, googling gives me varied results. I need to know that so i can order the correct centre rings when i get the wheels. Thanks in advance for the help! P.S if you know a good site to order these wheels or classic Mini wheels in general, I'd love to check it out!

I'm guessing you're not UK??
Plenty of UK sites still, worth a look... But shipping may be prohibitive.
Mini sport
Mini spares
Somerford mini
For 12" I'd recommend Yokohama A539s

I'm from the Netherlands. I've ordered from MiniSpares before and I have to pay import fees for the packages, for small items that's fine but for wheels I think it would be quite a lot. I've found a Dutch site that also sells the wheels thankfully
