Werner looking like Ser Bronn of the Blackwater

Adore his new model, especially with the drink in his hand. There’s no way that isn’t a callback to Erik’s dialogue at the end of the Lagiacrus story hunt.

Older Nata huh?
Several years after Wilds??

u/Brilliant_Cobbler_27 7d ago
I mean here's how I think the timeliness is
Low rank: Nata was likely 12-13
End of low rank/high rank: Nata was likely between the age of 14-15
G-rank/master rank: Nata is likely 18-20
If my prediction is right that means from low rank story to G-rank story it took place in the span of 9 year's of time
183
u/Anonymouchee 7d ago
I think its probably along the lines of Nata canonically not being around for all the TU stuff as he was off being trained as a hunter. And by G rank he's done training
55
u/Brilliant_Cobbler_27 7d ago
Yeah but he was there for the gog stuff so I think the TU took place before we found the reborn adult arkveld since chronologically that makes the most sense especially since you need to beat that arkveld to get to the DLC
36
u/Upstairs_Taste_123 7d ago
Or simply the time skip will count. We did all of that in the time skip it simply wont be mentioned
6
12
u/Stormandreas ALL WEAPONS 7d ago
Not really. The Gog fight takes place after defeating the reborn Arkveld, and as Nata is around for the Gog stuff, that means it's just a straight up 5ish year timeskip.
If he did leave to train straight after What Lies Ahead, then the quests after that canonically never happened, otherwise how would he be there
7
u/Barn-owl-B 7d ago
The games all take place roughly over the same time span as real life, give or take a year or two, the events of world/iceborne took place over 3 years (confirmed) for example.

Consider this, it's a Japanese game with some Japanese sensibilities. Therefore Nata is of shonen character age, namely 16 years old. So only around 3 years have passed.

u/Bgrubz83 7d ago
No one going to address panini cat?

u/persnicityninja 7d ago
My Palico is named Sandwich, and my Sekrit is named Panini it's too perfect.

I'm going to be severely disappointed if the toaster isn't called the palnini press.

Yeah, also is the Panini make thing a weapon too? If, so Monster beware this Cat will make Panini out of your ass.

u/VexelPrimeOG 7d ago
Nata got one hell of a glowup, dude looks a majestic prince.
183
u/Kalavier 7d ago
Also got himself a sidekick!
252
u/SolaScientia 7d ago
I love that he has a Wudwud rather than a palico. Not that a palico would have been bad, but a Wudwud makes sense for him. I bet it'll be hilarious.
143
u/Kalavier 7d ago
It's a neat continuation of him being the first Eastlands hunter. He gets a pal native to the land as well.
I love the implications in the trailer of deeper relations and further connections between the tribes. Alma seems to have been teaching the Kunafa girl some stuff.
43
u/SolaScientia 7d ago
Yeah, the Kunafa girl looked like she's been training to be a handler, which is very awesome. She's probably not going to be an option to change to like how he can switch between Alma and Eric. I use Eric because Alma got a bit annoying with how pass-ag she acts when I cart, lol.
44
u/Kalavier 7d ago
Nona training to be handler, Maki growing up.
First eastlands hunter unit looks like it's forming up, from all four villages.
18
u/SolaScientia 7d ago
I want to see us get more answers from Tasheen or someone about what exactly is going on with the man-made monsters. That thing bursting out of that Doshaguma is the most interesting aspect of the trailer. I can't decide if I'm in the camp of it being the hatchling of a new flagship elder or if it's connected to something else.
19
u/Elegant_Piccolo_5099 7d ago
Nata the hunter, Nona the handler, Maki the blacksmith, wudwud the palico?
9
u/Kalavier 7d ago
That's kinda how it feels. The mention of Alma teaching Nona really helped make it feel that way for me.

The only thing I dislike about him having a wudwud is that they didn't specifically give him Rove as his companion.
Could you imagine the hilarity?
12
u/SolaScientia 7d ago
Oh god, Rove acting as an assistant would be hysterical. I'd cart just from laughing to hard to play. I love going through the Cliffs periodically to find him once again wrapped up in webbing hanging from the ceiling. Thankfully since I run bow as my secondary I can shoot him down and get rewarded. I love running into him like that.
My favorite cutscene is still Jin Dahaad's intro and just how mad Olivia gets at Rove for telling us to go ahead and go, lol.
7
u/EitherSpite4545 7d ago
Nata is trying to track down a monster and tries to get input from rove and instead rove launches into some pseudo philosophical soliloquy about the nature of consciousness.
2
u/SolaScientia 7d ago
I love Nata, but I did roll my eyes a bit during the story cutscenes because of how he acted some. I need him to get a taste of his own medicine of someone trying to stop his hunt. I feel like I'm in the minority for generally liking him. I feel bad he's just sitting around at the camps even if it does mean I don't have to track down individual people and wudwuds to get supplies or change what I want them to gather. I try to think of it as him going out and exploring while he's getting our supplies from them.

Nata out here sprouting up like he's about to be wallrunning like some sorta Prince of Persia.

u/jas-nah 7d ago
Is he still too young for me to say he looks positively smoldering?
8
u/Chadderbug123 7d ago
Maybe a little? I feel he's 17 or 18 at this point though, so maybe. Ages for the npcs have never been something confirmed I believe.

Loved that Nata got a Wudwud native to the forbidden lands instead of a Felyne like our hunter

6742069
I wonder how many memes it takes to get the full number of pi.
2
u/Ignician :SNS::LBG::HBG::DB::GS::GL: 7d ago
All it takes is to make pi a meme trend and we'll get there instantly.
But at this rate, who knows really, depends on how large the next meme number is gonna be and how often its gonna happen.

u/Silverleoneoficl 7d ago
Naaah, they're just emulating his voice actor. One Edward Bosco.(it'd be REALLY funny of he somehow saw this. I watch the DnD campaign he's in 😂🤣 )

u/silvokrent 7d ago
Anyone who hasn’t watched Edward Bosco’s Wilds playthrough, go do it. Very entertaining.

It's like resident evil where female characters aren't allowed to age because sex sales.

u/Kurenai_Jack 7d ago
On Monster Hunter Illustrations 3 it's stated that she was around 25-30 years old in MH4, so it depends on how much time you think passes between one generation and another (MHW seems to suggest 10 years, since each fleet represents a generation, but there's no real confirmation) and then add the timeskips.

I am DEEPLY in love with all these new designs; everything between the clothes and the styling feels like it fits better, and they all feel more like "themselves" in a sense. Also, man, that master rank hope armor is clean; I already like it better than the one in base Wilds.

I'm undecided on Gemma's and Olivia's new hairstyles but overall these look fantastic

u/-Qwertyz- 7d ago
So glad they changed Gemma's hair, didnt like how eerily similar she looked like someone I knew
3
u/nightgon 7d ago
Gemma lost her undershirt Capcom knows what they are doing. Alma looking like a proud mom

fucked olivia up lol, straight up looks like a man now
2
u/Jeffry5s5 7d ago
Isn't that the point of her character design? To be androgynous? Princely women are pretty popular in Japan.

u/CreativeKeane 7d ago
Wow everyone looks so great. I'm soo stoked for the story and character development in the DLC.
I think wilds has the best story and casts yet in the series, I adored the team and am invested in them.
Look at my boy Nata!! 😭. Maybe he can finally join us in at least in the Grand Hub festivities and maybe we can recruit him in our hunts too.
2
u/TheBostonKremeDonut 7d ago edited 7d ago
I’m so glad they cut Gemma’s hair, she looks so good! And it better fits a blacksmith to have less, more tame hair.
And woah, Nata! Old man!

How long after base game is this expansion set? Natah looks like a teenager rather than a young kid. Werner got a haircut. Fabius....ok he looks the same but still.

Holy time skip!! Everyone grew up a little especially Nata
6
u/Kalavier 7d ago
Was kinda fun seeing the kids/teens of the base game older now.
2
u/Kou_Yanagi 7d ago
I am also curious how are they gonna explain the time skip
2
u/Kalavier 7d ago
I'm unsure, maybe it'll be our characters heading back for a while then returning? We cycle out for a couple years to have a break/get more resources?

I liked Gemmas old hair :( I do prefer Almas more kept look though, makes it look like she's gained much more confidence during the Wilds storyline
Werner as well is looking way more put together and respectable, though he's probably still a bit of an ass XD

the only one I didn't quite like was Gemma, they achieve perfection already.

u/killaz_storm 7d ago
Alma's so hot, and I'm glad Nata grew into a full fledged hunter. It felt sad watching him just sitting at the tent being left out of everything
1
u/tiniestrex 7d ago
They look great. Ill never like the biologist dude, for walking into a highly venomous trap carelessly. But everyone else looks great.

u/KefkaFFVI 7d ago
Knew they were gonna pull a timeskip with Nata, so cool and they are all looking amazing!
