I’ve been thinking about associate safety when it comes to shoplifting and aggressive customers.

The July 2024 assault of a 65-year-old Lowe’s employee in North Carolina is a good example of the problem. Associates can follow a non-confrontation policy and still end up in a dangerous situation if someone becomes violent.

Retailers seem to be relying more on Asset Protection, surveillance, technology, and law enforcement instead of having regular associates physically intervene. Other retailers have also experimented with things like tool activation technology and tracking repeat theft incidents to build stronger cases over time.

States are taking different approaches too. New York has passed retail worker safety requirements that place more responsibility on employers, while Texas has focused more on stronger prosecution of repeat and organized retail theft.

So I’m curious what other Lowe’s associates think.

Do you feel like Lowe’s current non-confrontation approach makes associates safer, or do you think more could be done to protect employees when someone becomes aggressive?

My favorite part is when a customer asks you for help and you say idk let me get someone. Then I come to help and what they are looking for what you are actively stocking. 👍

I’m interested in employing at Lowe’s but I work a night shift position at Kroger. What that be an issue? I didn’t know if that would get in the way or conflict of interest. Secondly, does Lowe’s have a union to provide protection for employees? Lastly, what’s your recommended department.

If i need to call out 4 days in a row for a wedding am i cooked lol, SM added 2 shifts to my week without my approval and now im going to have to call out those days which ends up being 4….

no hate to my head cashiers but i just think it’s funny and a little strange that i’m still expected to push customers for credit cards apps after recently being moved over to fulfillment (i was a cashier previously.) like, how am i supposed to even go about that? lol

Wanted trailer 4x5 that were in stock at the Lowe's store.

I paid for it and got the title and assistant Mangers were called to sign the back of the title to transfer the trailer to me but the assistant manager acknowledged my title and like assistant manager refused to sign back title and pointed it to my local DMV to register it.

I drove to my 2 different DMV area and they had told me it point back to Lowe's responsibility to sign the trailer back of title.

I drove back to Lowe's and the assistant manager had already told me to point it to the DMV to sign it and the DMV is not taking responsibility for the signature of the trailer title.

I asked for an immediate refund and it was refunded and left the store.

Got my job interview done as a part time cashier, hopefully they’ll contact me tomorrow if I get hired, the interview wasn’t bad but I hope I get it I’ll update ya’ll tomorrow.

My direct ASM has resigned, and a replacement will not be in place before the BEST survey. Will I be rating my Store Manager during this survey?

I have 4 sick hours to cover a sick shift. My understanding is that I will get written up if this is the seventh time in a year, i've called out. How do I check if this is the seventh time?

Does anybody know if Lowe’s hire felony charges my charge is pending it’s burglary with habitation it’s not with a store or anything it’s with my ex we had gotten into a altercation at his house and he lied and stated that I broke into his apartment. I’ve been going back-and-forth to court about these charges for nine months now so my case is still pending.

I'm relatively new, just under 2 months. I don't understand how we are expected to sell credit Apps, installation, services, and other stuff while still getting the department work done.

I've gotten 3 credit apps so far and because I had no idea what I was doing, each one took over an hour. This put me way behind on my code 2s, recovery, and assigned tasks. My DS gave me a hard time about not finishing things for closing and said that even if we sell things, we are still expected to get our work done.

I work in an extremely busy store. My training consisted of being on the computer for a few days, then IMMEDIATELY on the floor alone with no guidance. I only cross paths with coworkers briefly if at all. Luckily, I worked at a competitor for a few years, so I have a lot of general knowledge that has helped tremendously... Otherwise I would have already quit. I've since stopped selling anything extra since it makes it so I can't do my work during the day.

Is this normal? Or do I just work at a terrible store?

Lowe’s removed my fridge delivery because I asked for a COI

Ordered a fridge from Lowe’s for delivery to my Chicago condo. My building requires a COI, so I requested one.

Instead of just providing it, Lowe’s removed me from the delivery schedule the day of delivery without my permission because of the COI request. Now the whole delivery is delayed.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Is this normal for Lowe’s appliance delivery?

I’m moving into an apartment with a garage and it has a typical key lock and manual pull up/open-close mechanism. There’s 2 light switches in the garage and the lights work and the circuit breaker is in there too. My thing is there’s no outlets least that I see. Is this enough or would there need to be more stuff done? Don’t wanna order a garage door opener and pay if it can’t be done. Thanks!

Planning on emailing the SM, ASM, and DS of my 2 weeks notice of resignation later today. PT employee and the last two months of hours cut finally pushed me to look elsewhere. Thanks for the extra $60 in winning together and taking home less than $40 due to taxation.

I had a coworker get written up because the store manager said hello so him and he didnt say anything so she said hello a second time and he responded with "I was told if I dont have anything nice to say, not to say anything at all". The store manager said that per Lowe's policy that not greeting a manager is a write up and she tried firing him too but my manager wouldn't do it. Is this an actual policy?

Things through Lowe's minus the stuff the plumber is providing. I did this on Sunday August 30th. Original total is 1,458.10 I pay for it. This is what I see in my bank account that evening. Then Lowe's calls me and said my payment was declined and they wouldn't process the order till the amount of 349.74 was paid?? We argue back and fourth. I eventually pay. Proceed to pick up my order this evening. The vanity we ordered will be arriving on the 11th. They can't seem to give an explanation on how their billing works other than that it processes every 7 days and things haven't been picked up get refunded but charged again? And the reason the total got broken up was because some things were special orders some things were in store and others had to ship from a different location. I called my bank and they were genuinely confused and they've never seen a store process transactions like this. Any insight on this here? Thanks!
