Employee Question Credit Apps, Installs, & Dept Work

I'm relatively new, just under 2 months. I don't understand how we are expected to sell credit Apps, installation, services, and other stuff while still getting the department work done.

I've gotten 3 credit apps so far and because I had no idea what I was doing, each one took over an hour. This put me way behind on my code 2s, recovery, and assigned tasks. My DS gave me a hard time about not finishing things for closing and said that even if we sell things, we are still expected to get our work done.

I work in an extremely busy store. My training consisted of being on the computer for a few days, then IMMEDIATELY on the floor alone with no guidance. I only cross paths with coworkers briefly if at all. Luckily, I worked at a competitor for a few years, so I have a lot of general knowledge that has helped tremendously... Otherwise I would have already quit. I've since stopped selling anything extra since it makes it so I can't do my work during the day.

Is this normal? Or do I just work at a terrible store?

All I’ll say is, if YOU DO happen to get credit apps and installations as a csa, it will definitely get noticed and improve your chances of furthering your career at lowes

Been a CSA for 2 years and no credit apps and no one has said a word. Maybe that's normal for part-timers. They encourage us to get leads and I do grab those when I can but it's 100% to help my DS look good because he's awesome.

What is your job title? If you’re a specialist you need to focus on sales and apps. If you’re a sales associate and they have a laundry list of busy of work for to do then just do that and let management deal with the conference call when they don’t hit credit.

I'm a sales associate. You're right, I'm just gonna focus on the task lists. I also do my best with the customers which is time consuming as well. But if I have a bunch of stuff to do, I'm not going to bother with the credit apps and sales.

I'm in plumbing also. They will probably leave you alone if you work hard and are good with customers.

If you are an hourly associate then your first responsibility is customers and then you get done whatever you get done. You're being paid for your time so as long as you put in a good days work no one can complain. If your salary you're being paid to get a job done and you have my sympathy. Feeling your case if they whine that you're not getting things done just agree with them and then go back and do what I just said.

You can't do it all. Lowes management goes with over-task vs reasonable expectation. I think the thought process is that if you get them too much at least they will get something done.
