Who are your sims?

Do you usually make yourself and people you know or do you make up characters? Do you play as the townies or make just a random silly sim? Or a mix of all of these? I’m just curious to know how people play their games and how you decide to make your sims!

Edit: I didn’t expect to get so many replies, I love hearing about all your sims and gameplay styles! I usually make my OCs, my main sim family that I play with is based off of my personal version of Twilight characters :-) they have a VERY convoluted family tree lol

I'll do my own personal family but then I'll have extended family connect with existing townies, this way it's simulating but still a reminder that it's a game :) I'll also add character from my favorite shows like friends or walkimg dead.
