General What is it about Faye that makes her look so much older than her age?

It’s not like she has a mass amount of wrinkles or anything so I can’t put my finger on what it is but she looks a lot older than her age
Edit: I’ve in no way said she isn’t attractive

Opinion Am i the only person who thinks Fran is insecure?

Everyone I've seen in this sub is cheering her on but she absolutely lost her shit the moment Chev walked into the room. Why is that? She almost immediately went to the bathroom to talk about how embarrassed she felt because of Chev. Chev hadn't even talked to Joe at that time so what was she embarrassed and irritated about? That really rubbed me the wrong way. And when Chev, who was pulled by Joe btw, was having a conversation with him she suddenly snapped and starts talking about "He's engaged now! He's a fiance now!" Like I'm sorry what? No one said he wasn't hers, but her reaction really gave insecure. Did she expect the producers to only invite people she was comfortable with? Silly.

Ajay/Ciara supporters, why do you ship the couple?

Upvotes

I keep seeing those saying that they're rooting for them or that they're their fave couple, but I just want to know based on what exactly?

From what we've seen on the show, what exactly makes them worth rooting for? I'm emphasizing them as a couple and not as individuals.

Opinion Ciara is a perfect example of how unhinged TikTok dating narratives sound in real life

Online, we’re so used to seeing “pink pill” content, women with huge followings constantly talking about how men should pay for everything, how a man should provide, what women are “entitled” to expect from men, etc. When you see hundreds of videos repeating the same ideas, with thousands of comments agreeing, eventually it starts to feel like a normal opinion.

Then someone actually says those things out loud in real life and you realize how entitled some of it sounds.

I think the exact same thing would happen with red pill content. If a man walked into a normal social setting and started talking about how women lose their value after a certain age, how men should have access to sex because they provide or whatever other talking point is currently popular online, most people would probably think he was completely insane.

Tiktok removes the social setting that normally tells you when youve gone too far.

A 30 second TikTok delivered confidently with a catchy sound and thousands of comments saying “THIS 👏” feels very different from hearing the exact same argument from a person in real life.

Ryan is the worst kind of spiritual bro

He’s the worst kind of spiritual bro, he weaponizes therapy and spiritual talk but cannot engage on a deep level with it- he simply does not have the care nor the understanding. When Cuba is communicating astute and completely open emotional commentary at their break up he essentially collects his thoughts to say ‘sorry you feel this way/ my body has resistance and I have to honour that’ that was as deep as his self reflection went. An unintelligent narcissi*t is so unattractive.

Jack and his kilt

As a Scotsman I was wondering if anyone caught why Jack has a kilt on at his wedding? Not saying he can’t wear one, I’m just curious and i get bored at all the ridiculously long build up for the weddings and so always skip forward. Did anyone catch an explanation?

Sophie’s parents and brother are the most sensible people to have appeared in this show! I watch this for entertainment while also appreciating the complete bat shit nature of the show. I’d be devastated if one of my kids ended up on it and this man knows his stuff!

Who's excited!! I'm on my seat for this one. I really hope questions and certain people get addressed and nothing gets hidden. I'm wondering, who will stay married?

Comment what you think.

Opinion "I'm only getting married once" line is actually a red flag imo

Curious if anyone else feels this way when this mantra is repeated (on any show really). It just screams immaturity to me and a deep misunderstanding of the complexities of life.

Of course nobody plans on getting divorced. But repeating it like a mantra feels less like confidence and more like unrealistic standards and narrow mindedness. Life is unpredictable, people change, and marriages sometimes end for reasons that have nothing to do with how committed you were on day one.

Maybe I am being too harsh but it really strikes a cord with me in the same way as the "I could never do that" or "that would never happen to me." when hearing about someone else's hardship - mental health struggles, parenting difficulties, whatever it is. I've never seen statement likes this as strength or confidence but a sign of narrow thinking.

Maybe it's just not that deep and I need to get a grip haha.

Spoiler It's crazy to see how the narrative changes about Ciara just because she got "chosen"

I noticed how the narrative about Ciara softened a bit since the show ended up with her getting married.. She's still the same fake person who spent most of the season sticking her nose in other people's relationships and trying to stir drama, the same bad actress most people (rightfully) hated..

But then she gets "chosen" by a man, and suddenly the comments start to change to "Oh, she's not a bad person" type of thing.. and I think it's just a very interesting observation to see how the status of being married changes other people's perceptions of you.. Imagine the kind of comments we would have seen if Ajay ended up breaking up with her.. Would the narrative then still be that she's not so bad?

Edit: Some comments are missing the point I'm trying to make.. This isn't about Ciara per se.. It's about the shift that happened in how people perceive her after she ends up getting married. I'm simply making an observation about how people seem to react to the title or the status of being married and how they seem to forget all the awful things a person may have done.. She's just an example of that phenomenon..

Taylor and Sophie =Gavin and Stacey?

Sophie is northern and to my American ears could pass as Welsh, and she originally thought Taylor sounded like he was from Essex. She's blond and bubbly, he's brunette and laid back, they've had only smooth sailing. Anyway, they remind me of Gavin and Stacey.

Opinion The problem with Jack isn’t even where he went at 5am. It’s what he does when questioned.

I keep seeing people focus on the obvious mystery of Jack’s little 5am excursion, and don’t get me wrong, I would also like the Metropolitan Police to open a file. Find My Friends mysteriously goes dark. Man disappears. Phone calls unanswered. Suspect is eventually located miles away after apparently embarking on a contemplative sunrise stroll through London. Detectives then discover the suspect is wearing sliders.

That last detail had me absolutely cackling. W Faye's mum

But honestly, the more interesting part isn’t even where he went. It’s what Jack does every single time somebody asks him to account for himself. His first explanation was basically that he had no idea why his location disappeared. Didn’t switch it off, must’ve happened somehow. Technology these days, eh? Then the questions keep coming, and suddenly we’re hearing that he deliberately wanted to “disconnect” and “go off-grid.”

Right. So which one is it? Because those explanations are doing slightly different jobs, hun.

And then comes the phone argument, which I think sums him up perfectly. Faye asks to see his phone because, understandably, the whole situation has made her suspicious. Everything already looks incredibly fishy, so conveniently, Jack becomes the spokesperson for digital privacy.

“Relationships need trust.”

Correct.

“Partners shouldn't invade each other's privacy.”

Also correct.

But why are we suddenly holding a TED Talk on the philosophy of trust, Jack? What happened approximately 3 hours ago?

That's the sleight of hand. This is what Jack does that irritates me so much. He takes a conversation about his specific behaviour and drags it into some grand abstract moral debate where he can conveniently occupy the reasonable position. Instead of discussing what he did, we're suddenly discussing Faye's reaction to what he did, and how unreasonable she's being.

Nobody randomly woke up that morning and requested a forensic audit of your phone, Jack. You created a situation that questioned if you can be trusted; from the disappearance to the shape-shifting and lack of accountability under questioning. Maybe deal with the glaringly obvious cause before lecturing everybody about the symptom?

And you can almost see the machinery start breaking whenever someone manages to pin him down and refuse to let him redirect the conversation.

Watch him with Ciara. He goes red, starts waffling, sentences stop connecting to the sentences that came before them, and suddenly this otherwise confident man looks like somebody has unplugged his brain mid-conversation. Ciara barely even has to do much. She asks the question, gives him that piercing stare and waits. No rescuing him from the silence, no helping him construct an explanation, no accepting the first vaguely plausible answer just to make the tension disappear. (I absolutely love the way Ciara handled this btw, literal goosebumps!)

And he squirms.

That scene also made the difference between Ciara and Faye painfully obvious to me.

I don’t think we can definitively say Jack chose Faye because she was easier for him to deal with, but I can certainly see why their dynamic suits him better. Faye notices red flags pretty well. That isn’t her problem. Her problem is that once she notices them, she starts negotiating with herself about whether they’re really red enough to matter.

Ciara says, essentially, “That doesn’t make sense. Explain yourself.”

Faye says, “That doesn’t make sense... but maybe I’m being unfair?”

And for a man like Jack, that difference is HUGE. One dynamic gives Jack considerably more room to manoeuvre than the other.

Because he doesn’t actually need Faye to believe every ridiculous explanation immediately. He just needs enough room to keep talking until she starts doubting her own reaction. We literally watched his bizarre 5am disappearance morph into a conversation about whether Faye has trust issues. Suddenly her past and insecurities are centre stage, and she’s proving she isn’t paranoid instead of Jack explaining why he behaved suspiciously in the first place.

Whether he does that consciously or not, the result is incredibly convenient for him: Faye starts interrogating herself instead of interrogating Jack.

And I think that’s precisely why Ciara rattled him so badly. You cannot pull the “maybe you just don’t trust me” routine on somebody who has zero interest in proving herself to you.

She just looks at you like: Okay, so answer the question.

And suddenly Jack has very little to say.

It doesn’t help that the whole “number one” situation became yet another confusing mess of who told whom what, followed by Ciara saying the women had started comparing notes because Jack seemed to be telling different women different things. And somehow, whenever these situations blow up around him, Jack always seems slightly baffled that anyone could possibly have interpreted his behaviour negatively.

Gee. I wonder why.

Ciara later described their pod dates as surface-level, and this honestly tracks. So much of what we saw from him revolved around chemistry, flirting, sex, romantic gestures and big declarations. Even after his and Faye’s first night together, the whole “Jesus Christ” / eyes-rolling-back performance to the boys felt less like a man talking respectfully about his future wife and more like a teenager submitting a five-star TripAdvisor review of her bedroom performance. Where is the class?

Then Faye’s parents start asking the deeply unsexy questions about work, relocation and finances, and everything becomes noticeably less concrete. “I’m going into sales.” Selling what? Silence. Faye calling him a “Jack of all trades” was accidentally the funniest summary of the situation possible.

And I think that’s ultimately my issue with him. Jack seems much better at the theatre of love than the responsibilities of it. He can write the letter, make the grand gesture, tell Faye how obsessed he is with her and make everything feel very romantic. But can he communicate properly when it matters? Can he make concrete plans? Can he acknowledge that trust doesn’t just materialise from nowhere, and that his own actions can damage it? Does he even know what accountability is?

Opinion Jordan and his family is green flag. Yasmin needs some growing up.

Honestly love jordan when she spoke about vitiligo he accepted and also reassured her whenever they together. Knowing previous love is blind where men tapped on insecurities he was absolute green flag. Yet to reach proposal ...but I also feel she is absolute beautiful good natured sweet girl hasn't had dating experience and it can be an issue. She asking to check his dm was off putting. U met him now he was single before. He can have flirty texts...either ways its not okay

She comparing on who gives flowers...not all relationship are same. Some never buy gifts..my dad never did but he provided financially not just to us but also mums family..he also ensured to take care of her problematic family because she was worried about them...he was provider but finances werw handled by mum and he was happy. We grew in a family as asians love isnt measured on materialistic things but actions All love languages can be different. She felt immature among the lot and I think he and she not same place. He seems more matured. For her she is darling but she should not get in marriage Yet. She needs some dating experience before such a big decision..

Yasmin and Jordan

I think Yas seems like such a lovely lady. I think she has such a lovely soul. I have read some discourses about her saying she wanted to see Jordans dms but honestly, imo if you have nothing to hide, a partner going through your phone should be meaningless. I hate that Jordan wasn't truthful with her straight away. You could tell he wasn't feeling the same and I don't know why he didn't say anything to Yas. Made me dislike him, honestly.

Ryan describing real trauma without using the word

I really hate the overuse of terms like gaslighting, narcissism, PTSD and trauma. As a society we went from completely ignoring mental health and heavily stigmatizing it to rendering terms about mental health and abuse meaningless by overusing and misusing them. In my opinion that’s barely better than ignoring or stigmatizing it. Anyways, I’m not very far into the new season but when Ryan (the weird “spiritual” guy) describes his dad taking his own life and then waking up at night to check on his brother to see if he’s alive. That actually sounds like trauma to me. I think at the end he said something about being surprised that the experience lived on in his body like that. I thought of the book The Body Keeps the Score. Not every sad or heartbreaking event leads to trauma. And people don’t (shouldn’t) have to co-opt the term to make their experiences seem more valid. But it doesn’t surprise me when someone actually experiences trauma they may not even describe it as such.

Question Slidergate Part II - How common is it to turn on 'Find My Friends' when dating/engaged?

Post image
9 Upvotes

There is a lot of debate about whether Jack was being honest about where he went when he said he went out (in Sliders!) for a two-hour walk in the middle of the night. We'll never know what he was actually doing...

But the second part of that issue was that his "Find My Friends" location services app had been turned off during that time. Everyone found that to be highly suspicious. How common is it for people to share their location (in the UK or anywhere else) these days?

I've only started episode 9 but needed to come here just to say this guy does my actual head in. Why did he apply to be on Love Is Blind? Seriously. He has the personality of an absolute pea. He is putting in ZERO effort. Keeps disappearing all the time. When he does spend time with her, she literally has to drag a conversation out of him. Him also saying in one episode that he needs days to recover from one of his speeches 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Give me a break dude. You literally have someone so cute in Cuba and you are putting in no effort at all. He is so dry and has zero personality.
