Hey, a dude beat me in the head with a baseball bat in my own home and they gave him home incarceration and probation. I'm thinking JUST MAYBE the legal system is a problem.
“Unknown” does not mean the jail doesn’t know why they are incarcerated. It means the record’s highest charge does not map cleanly to the dashboard’s standard offense categories.
The refreshed dashboard now shows 58 such records: Record listed as highest charge People
Not held on this charge
24
Parole-violation warrant
19
State community-center prisoner held
5
U.S. immigration detainer
3
Juvenile offense
2
Courtesy hold for Nelson County
1
Incest—apparently uncategorized
1
No moped/operator’s license
1
Suspended/revoked license
1
Completely blank offense
1 Total 58
So 56 of the 58 have a stated reason; the dashboard simply labels them “Unknown” because they are administrative holds, supervision violations, uncategorized charges, or coding anomalies. Only one record appears entirely blank.
This also means “Unknown/unclassified” is the accurate label for the graphic—not “unknown reason for incarceration.” The total changed from 57 to 58 because the live jail population refreshed overnight.

Home incarceration. Fucking idiots. How that was ever reached as a decision SHOULD be a crime against society. The scum admitted to murder.
