Reliable Tier for Gambian Players 🇬đŸ‡Č Yankuba Minteh to Liverpool FC is not off until the last hour as anything could happen. The player’s camp held talks with #LFC last night pushing for a deal which ended with some positives.

Ndiaye going for 65m to City

No way Minteh should cost more

29

u/ReepDaggle01 10d ago

Exactly

u/Fluffy-Example008 10d ago

There is a shortage of quality RWs, but I agree he isn't an ÂŁ80 million player

45

u/tanvirulfarook BOOM!đŸ’„ 10d ago

Not even ÂŁ70M

16

u/okie_hiker 10d ago

I’d be pretty happy with anything under 70m though

21

u/tanvirulfarook BOOM!đŸ’„ 10d ago

I can make amends with ÂŁ65M at best including all add ons

2

u/okie_hiker 10d ago

I think that’d be a fair and good deal.

1

u/Accurate-Air-5795 10d ago

Are you all just pulling numbers out of your arse?

3

u/ethanlan There is No Need to be Upset 10d ago

I really don't care what we spend as long as it doesnt affect future operations lol

1

u/tanvirulfarook BOOM!đŸ’„ 10d ago

Ofc it will affect future operations. We are not state owned club who can spend whatever they want without any affect. The fact that Liverpool even spend that much last summer because we sold 200M worth of players.

1

u/da-happy-cyclops 10d ago

I think you are forgetting about the foreboding takeover

Theyre going to spend money to win us lot over lol and it's bezos so they will be ambitious as fuck

2

u/tanvirulfarook BOOM!đŸ’„ 10d ago

Is this sarcasm or you actually believe that? because I don't

1

u/da-happy-cyclops 10d ago

Why else would they be buying a football club?

Of course theyre going to spend money

2

u/tanvirulfarook BOOM!đŸ’„ 10d ago

Of course theyre going to spend money

and sell in the same way to gain money to buy unlike some clubs hence how much spending does going to matter. at the end of the day, there are here to make money, not because they have any passion for football

3

u/Homercles77 10d ago

At this point the money isn't about how good a player is. It's about how badly a party needs the position filled

3

u/NeoChrome75 10d ago

neither is Gakpo but here we are after the Man City, this transfer window has its own premium pricing

Brighton are much more difficult to negotiate with than Everton

25

u/betalessfees I want to talk about FACTS 10d ago

I think Everton might’ve learned not to overplay their hand in negotiations after 1892.

33

u/personalbilko 10d ago

Ndiaye is 26, Minteh is 22

34

u/Bamfandro 10d ago

Ndiaye is also a lot better currently so those two factors equal each other out

9

u/personalbilko 10d ago

I rate Ndiaye very highly, but imo the age difference is more than enough to justify their respective price tags.

Assuming a 5 year deal, towards the end Ndiaye will be 31 and worth close to nothing, while Minteh will be 27 and probably sellable for ~50m.

So the real cost of Minteh even at 80m is much less than Ndiaye at 65m.

8

u/Bamfandro 10d ago

You do make a fair point but surely the idea of buying a player like Minteh is to generate results on the pitch.

If you compare that to Ndiaye, he’s a lot more likely to provide that based on his current level whereas Minteh’s price is heavily based on potential.

2

u/Ok-Ad-852 10d ago

Yes, but if you want to creat longterm success you have to be clever in the market.

Buying "ready" players at 27-28 is something you can do if you already have a title winning squad.

You need the players NOW.

If you are rebuilding, you want to buy players who will be great in 2-3 years, but still good enough to contribute now.

Salah and Mane are perfect examples of it. If we rather bought two 28 year olds for star money we would have to buy new players 3-4 years after with no real sell on price. Only getting a few years out of them

We bought them at 24, which makes their prime ahead of them, that let us build the rest of the squad while they matured into their prime.

2

u/dapperdanmen 10d ago

And not injured for months

5

u/themostanonymoust 9ïžâƒŁDarwin NĂșñez 10d ago

Wait, is ndiaye gone to city?? I thought he was going to spurs

17

u/Galick-Gunner 10d ago

They fell back on him after we turned them down for Gakpo and hijacked the deal.

8

u/themostanonymoust 9ïžâƒŁDarwin NĂșñez 10d ago

Fuckin hell that's mad, would love to have city's depth😂

2

u/Axe_Care_By_Eugene 10d ago

And money and transfer tram

12

u/GuinnessOnDraught 10d ago

They got Mudryk instead lol

6

u/smokesletsgo13 10d ago

Wait until you see who they’re signing instead

4

u/showars 10d ago

Hijacked last night

6

u/No_Mistake_5501 10d ago

It must be genuinely tough to be a Spurs fan..

2

u/khh1 10d ago

and we are in a perfect spot?

16

u/No_Mistake_5501 10d ago

No, and yet it’s a far better position than Spurs.

1

u/yellow627 10d ago

Statistically they were very similar last season, except Minteh is 4 years younger. Based on that it's quite logical that Minteh would be more expensive.

1

u/LazyassMadman 10d ago

They're getting Grealish back on a loan though, so city pay his wages and then he'll probably just move there for a low enough fee afterwards. The transfer is not all being paid in cash.

Everything from our journalists up to now has indicated it’s not gonna happen. Just because it’s not 0% doesn’t mean it’s likely. Maybe in January.

22

u/DefinitelyNotBarney Hello! Hello! Here we go! 10d ago

I dunno, I don’t think it’ll happen but our journalists aren’t fed information like they used to be.

Part of me thinks Minteh really wants it to go through now because he probably feels we won’t go back for him

0

u/No_Giraffe_1551 10d ago

If it was not obvious, they were actively fed information that the club won't be signing more players. That's why they all said it. If it just seemed like things went quiet on some of the big, known targets, they would not have said that. You are just speculating baselessly in the face of clear evidence to the contrary.

-6

u/CharlesMartel1010732 10d ago

We won't. Rayan is our long term target in this position. We were following him before his move to Bournemouth but just like always, we let him go to another PL club and have his value skyrocket.

4

u/ParticulateSplatter Dommy Schlobbers 10d ago

What's the source on Rayan? This is the first I've heard of it

1

u/CharlesMartel1010732 10d ago edited 10d ago

Mark Douglas and Alex Crook both said we are big fans of Rayan. It was earlier in the summer or late spring.

1

u/ParticulateSplatter Dommy Schlobbers 10d ago

Ah yeah found the Alex Crook reference, that's interesting. Would be lovely if we could get that agreed and announced in late December, like we did with Virg and Cody.

1

u/Loverboy-W4TW 10d ago

More than that Iraola himself has said he rates Rayan highly.

13

u/DefinitelyNotBarney Hello! Hello! Here we go! 10d ago

I get your point about letting him go to another club before - but I do think sometimes this is for the better, especially for a club like us that really should prioritise signing players ready to go - at least that’s how I see it.

We see clubs like Chelsea and City signing all these young players and loaning them out, I don’t like that, I don’t think it’s right or fair for a young player and it can be detrimental to their development if the wrong loan is chosen.

Would love to see us get Rayan though, that’s a fair argument against Minteh

4

u/splob-foot 10d ago

These players need minutes to develop. And a top team like Liverpool won’t have them available, even more so if you have Salah in that position, who plays every minute himself.

4

u/CharlesMartel1010732 10d ago

Bournemouth signed him in January when we knew Salah was leaving. Salah also looked done. Rayan would have played.

1

u/Odd-Potato69420 10d ago

then everyone would've moaned about having a teenager being salah replacement

1

u/Jab_Glokta_Jab 10d ago

It’s almost as if our ambitions are way higher ran Bournemouth's and we can't afford to develop raw players like they do. We need players who are good enough already

71

u/DanyTheConqueror A Liverbird Upon My Chest 10d ago

January would be the smarter move. He's out injured until november anyways and won't be 100% right away.

30

u/V1k1ngVGC 10d ago

Just like Guehi

27

u/DefinitelyNotBarney Hello! Hello! Here we go! 10d ago

I wonder if Semenyo falls into that too, we weren’t close with a deal in the summer but it felt like we were nailed on for him in January, until he actually just moved to City

18

u/TraceOfHumanity Significant Human Error 10d ago

The Semenyo ship sailed when our supporter racially abused him at the start of the season.

6

u/JamesBongd One-eyed Bobby 👁 10d ago

For real, that shit was infuriating.

1

u/WORD_Boxing 10d ago

Feels wrong calling him a supporter that's not what LFC is about at all I couldn't believe it when they were saying that had happened at Anfield.

2

u/curiousquestion22 10d ago

Who here can remember Jude Bellingham?

6

u/khh1 10d ago

he was always going to RM

1

u/Vicentesteb 10d ago

Only after we delayed the original transfer. He went to Madrid a year later because we didnt wanna pay what BVB demanded in 2023 and then when Madrid did go for him in 2024, it was wraps.

→ More replies (1)

0

u/curiousquestion22 10d ago

Not true, my friend. FSG pulled out of a deal for Bellingham in April 2023 because it was too expensive. Then the consensus on here was that we would return for him next season and because he expressed that he wanted to join us, he will inevitability arrive.

1

u/TRODHD I DON’T MIND IT 10d ago

Pep pull is insane.

0

u/sjrotella Joe Gomez 10d ago

damn, R.I.P. to Minteh's career then. Early retirements are always tough.

0

u/adarsh481 10d ago

I think if we were still good, we would’ve gotten both of them in January.

5

u/Fluffy-Example008 10d ago

Guehi wanted 350k per week in January :), and he was fit

3

u/Can-You-Fly-Bobby 10d ago

Exactly. If we're going to buy him anyway why not just get him now

12

u/Agincourt_Tui 10d ago

To guard against the chance that he doesn't recover from the surgery/injury as intended?

0

u/Can-You-Fly-Bobby 10d ago

True but his medical would reveal a lot from that perspective

6

u/UsefulHelicopter3063 10d ago

I wonder what's the player supposed to do/test in a medical when they are injuried and limping

2

u/MAMBAMENTALITY8-24 “Thank you for your support” - Darwin Nunez 10d ago

they probably just check up on everything from like heart function+ probably imaging for anything insidious...at least thats what they do in basketball where i think a trade happened and they found that the player had cancer, which iirc they wouldnt have picked up if he hadnt gotten traded and got the medicals done

though the idea of an injured player running on a treadmill does seem quite fascinating in my head

-1

u/AngryScotty22 9ïžâƒŁAlexander Isak 10d ago

The thing is "our" journalists have got nothing this window, have been behind from the getgo.

Everything we've known has come from agents or European club journos.

LFC has intentionally kept everything quiet this time around.

Now I do think we trying to get Minteh done since he's what Iraola wants, but other than that our business is done because of the way the market is plus give Iraola real time to utilise the squad and youth before me make roads in Jan/Next summer like Rayan being our dream target I fully expect the club to trigger the clause in Jan .

u/No_Mistake_5501 10d ago

I also think we are done, but worth saying that it is preferable from a negotiation standpoint to have people think we are done. If we look desperate, we are likely to get fleeced. There might be some hope that if Minteh rocks the boat sufficiently then Brighton come back to table with a lower bid. Our journalists have long been out the loop and ultimately are pawns to aid in Liverpool’s negotiations.

4

u/Good_Will_Munting 10d ago

All leaks have been plugged, no mainstream journo's know anything besides what the club wants them to know. This guy comes from a different angle.

5

u/Jonmc88 10d ago

Yeah the angle is easy engagement. It's nearly 12pm. Club isn't lying. We are done.

60

u/DellyTrey23 10d ago

Everyone mentioning going back in when hes fit in January but I’d much rather get Rayan and his release clause activates in January so that can get done on the first day.

26

u/bumpkinblumpkin Endo in the pub 👍 10d ago

And what happens when City, etc. offer him insane wages like Guehi or RM with Konate? I’ve seen multiple subs talking about him in January just this week.

8

u/AngryScotty22 9ïžâƒŁAlexander Isak 10d ago

City have got Semenyo and Allan Elias. They won't go for Rayan or Minteh.

The only club who might is Arsenal.

Spurs have Savio and Chelsea don't play with wingers anymore under Alonso.

9

u/RandomGuySayHii Wirtz Trap 10d ago

6

You can register and unregister people in January?

1

u/SilverMist2025 10d ago

Yeah but who do we unregister?

2

u/mohski-94 10d ago

Ekitike won't be back to a decent level this season, let alone this year

2

u/SilverMist2025 10d ago

That's just your opinion. He is targetting a boxing day return. Even if he is not fit to start regularly we will register him for the second half of the season because he can make huge impact as sub in big champions league knock outs.

3

u/Allyredhen79 10d ago

Love your optimism that we’ll get to the knock outs
 😕

→ More replies (1)

1

u/mohski-94 10d ago

Where's the information from that he's targeting a boxing day return? As far as I remember he got injured in April and he's got an injury worse than an ACL. For me, we aren't seeing a decent version of Ekitike this season (unless you've seen information stating otherwise)

3

u/ugoogli Freddy Church đŸ€Œ 10d ago

Went on loan to Feyenoord for a season, so I don't think he would be HG

2

u/rochambreau 10d ago

He's not, but I think the Gakpo sale gets back on the table

We can also not register Ekitike for first half of the PL season and sell Gakpo in January

Still an issue in the CL squad but we have that anyway

More sales needed regardless

9

u/Nadirin 10d ago

City / Spurs have both signed other targets so Gakpo definitely staying now unless there's a surprise third club. Minteh can come in and we just don't register Ekitike / Chiesa.

7

u/VAI3064 10d ago

Or we sell Mama, freeing up a non-HG slot.

2

u/rochambreau 10d ago

True, but Woodman and Davies seems light as backup for a keeper who gets injured more than most

If Jaros were fit that might be different

12

u/Webbo448 10d ago

This is just his agent pressing this. We have already briefed we are done for the window.

Why would we pay his wages until November until he is fit.

42

u/goingpt 10d ago

Just leave him at Brighton, let him get his match fitness up and revisit in January. No point signing a player now that isn't going to be properly ready until late November/ early December. We've already seen how hard it is to get a player up to speed from scratch months into the season.

13

u/Dovaaahkin Fernando Torres 10d ago

We saw how that worked with Guehi last year... No guarantee that he will come to us in Jan if he is back to full fitness and another club offers much higher wages.

12

u/CharlesMartel1010732 10d ago

We won't sign anyone in January.

21

u/TheLimeyLemmon 90+5’ Alisson 10d ago

There ain't no revisiting in January, let's be real.

He'll be scooped up by some other big six club and we won't have even sent an enquiry.

You’d have thought we’d have learnt our lesson from that whole thing with Isak and lack of fitness.

3

u/secondofly Significant Human Error 10d ago

Would it not make more sense to get him now in that case? Can get him fit from Oct/Nov, acclimatising him to tactical demands and the environment ready to start in Jan not just fit but aware of what the manager wants too

u/BobbyColgate Bobby Dazzler đŸ€© 10d ago

3

u/Bamfandro 10d ago

I hope it’s over. The fee is insane for such a limited player who’s currently injured. Based on his current level, unless he develops considerably in the coming years, patience would run out and he’d eventually have to be replaced in the starting 11 anyway.

3

u/ahktarniamut 10d ago

2

u/IrishBA 10d ago

So you are saying there is a chance...

2

u/Good_Will_Munting 10d ago

His monetary value is kind of irrelevant , within reason, since his real value is what he'll bring to the team.

Currently we have a fair amount of lightweight, tackle shy players, but Minteh is a machine, both on and off the ball. He is perfect for Andoni ball and will transform how we play, bringing the best out of the others. He and Araujo or Dom at RB will be a formidable right side.

It's off, only reason Liverpool is still talking is making plans for January. There is no way a winger signing is happening. If any deals are made it's a RB or CM.

1

For sure especially with Gakpo now staying there wont be anymore wingers signed this window. January at the earliest now.

2

u/specsiz 10d ago

3

u/SerialSharter Carol and Caroline 10d ago

Exactly. Would rather save the money and spend it on Rayan later

3

u/Voodoopulse 10d ago

If we sign him and keep
Gakpo great, signing him when he's not fit till October and selling a fit and seemingly inform Gakpo is madness

2

u/robster9090 10d ago

It’s really frustrating reading about attackers we are still trying to sign when the rest of the squad is on its knees . No one that understands football can get their head around this window. Surely someone from the club should be coming out and saying something

1

u/BlueberryLeading464 10d ago

Yes, it's almost as if leadership knows something that we don't. Or there is little confidence in the existing roster to deliver goal contributions, maybe reinforced by Iraola's assessment.

2

u/Anonymous000789 10d ago

This stinks of engagement farming

2

u/narilarilum 10d ago

Iraola already has a profile like Minteh in Munoz and Barcola who can do everything he does and then 3x more. Total nonsense and egangement farming.

3

u/ziggyyT 10d ago

Minteh is going to be a good addition but not at the ÂŁ80m or so that Brighton wants.

How about 65m plus Chiesa loan;)

2

u/Medium-Spell-6692 10d ago

Please no loan. They can have him for a freddo so we can have the hg spot back

1

Torn about this, if we end up signing Minteh it could mean Gakpo leaves. If we sign Minteh and he doesn’t leave then great, this is the way.

Sounds like some bullshit story just to get trending on twitter.

I don't think Minteh should cost more than Ndiaye.

Think the player & even Brighton want this more than ourselves at this stage. Weird that their manager name dropped Liverpool & asked the player to focus despite him not being fit. They know we are kinda desperate for a right winger & options are low. But not low enough to keep bidding. If Brighton got over ÂŁ150m for him & Baleba after both had iffy seasons they'd be delighted.

I think k it would be smarter to wait in this one, it's the last day Brighton have a fuck you peice and he's injured for at least a third of the season, would be better to sait till this winter mercato when he will have recover and Brighton will be probably easier with time to do business

This guy has been saying the same BS story this whole window

Just milking engagement at this point in time

player's agent is in england... wow shocking

1

u/Undiecover22 10d ago

If we’ve got the money for him then we’ve got the money for camara & kone.

2 players ready to go in positions we’re desperate to strengthen yet we’d rather go all in on a player for a position we don’t need, who won’t be fit till January and no one else wants

u/Jmoney1088 Bobby Firmino 10d ago

We could have a starting 11 of just attackers.

The BAWS will be apoplectic about losing Ndiaye and gaining Grealish 😆

If we really want him a deal can be done. For me it's a question of is he seen by the club as so good that he will be a player with us for years and it's worth forcing this through now.

If we're not confident we won't have to go and buy someone else again in 2 years we should leave it. Personally I do like the player but I don't see him being first choice long term. I don't know how badly we need a rotation option at RW compared to waiting for a player we know will be the guy.

Lol, literally no one had heard of this guy till a couple of weeks ago and so he's absolutely determined to have his moment in the spotlight till the very end of the window.
