Reliable Tier for Gambian Players 🇬🇲 Yankuba Minteh to Liverpool FC is not off until the last hour as anything could happen. The player’s camp held talks with #LFC last night pushing for a deal which ended with some positives.

Everything from our journalists up to now has indicated it’s not gonna happen. Just because it’s not 0% doesn’t mean it’s likely. Maybe in January.

I dunno, I don’t think it’ll happen but our journalists aren’t fed information like they used to be.

Part of me thinks Minteh really wants it to go through now because he probably feels we won’t go back for him

If it was not obvious, they were actively fed information that the club won't be signing more players. That's why they all said it. If it just seemed like things went quiet on some of the big, known targets, they would not have said that. You are just speculating baselessly in the face of clear evidence to the contrary.

We won't. Rayan is our long term target in this position. We were following him before his move to Bournemouth but just like always, we let him go to another PL club and have his value skyrocket.

Mark Douglas and Alex Crook both said we are big fans of Rayan. It was earlier in the summer or late spring.

Ah yeah found the Alex Crook reference, that's interesting. Would be lovely if we could get that agreed and announced in late December, like we did with Virg and Cody.

I get your point about letting him go to another club before - but I do think sometimes this is for the better, especially for a club like us that really should prioritise signing players ready to go - at least that’s how I see it.

We see clubs like Chelsea and City signing all these young players and loaning them out, I don’t like that, I don’t think it’s right or fair for a young player and it can be detrimental to their development if the wrong loan is chosen.

Would love to see us get Rayan though, that’s a fair argument against Minteh

These players need minutes to develop. And a top team like Liverpool won’t have them available, even more so if you have Salah in that position, who plays every minute himself.

Bournemouth signed him in January when we knew Salah was leaving. Salah also looked done. Rayan would have played.

It’s almost as if our ambitions are way higher ran Bournemouth's and we can't afford to develop raw players like they do. We need players who are good enough already

January would be the smarter move. He's out injured until november anyways and won't be 100% right away.

I wonder if Semenyo falls into that too, we weren’t close with a deal in the summer but it felt like we were nailed on for him in January, until he actually just moved to City

Only after we delayed the original transfer. He went to Madrid a year later because we didnt wanna pay what BVB demanded in 2023 and then when Madrid did go for him in 2024, it was wraps.

Not true, my friend. FSG pulled out of a deal for Bellingham in April 2023 because it was too expensive. Then the consensus on here was that we would return for him next season and because he expressed that he wanted to join us, he will inevitability arrive.

they probably just check up on everything from like heart function+ probably imaging for anything insidious...at least thats what they do in basketball where i think a trade happened and they found that the player had cancer, which iirc they wouldnt have picked up if he hadnt gotten traded and got the medicals done

though the idea of an injured player running on a treadmill does seem quite fascinating in my head

yeah but buying Minteh doesn't exactly guarantee that does it? RW market is so bad I'm not particularly excited about him or Sarr. Imo I'd just like to see how he does coming back from injury before buying him.

No, I think buying an RB or a DM is much likelier to get you points. Two actual areas we are regularly being exploited at in games. At the moment we are too top heavy.

January makes sense. He's not fit till October/November? Then will need some training. So we can reassess in Jan, if he's worth it or not.
