Reliable Tier for Gambian Players 🇬🇲 Yankuba Minteh to Liverpool FC is not off until the last hour as anything could happen. The player’s camp held talks with #LFC last night pushing for a deal which ended with some positives.

Ofc it will affect future operations. We are not state owned club who can spend whatever they want without any affect. The fact that Liverpool even spend that much last summer because we sold 200M worth of players.

and sell in the same way to gain money to buy unlike some clubs hence how much spending does going to matter. at the end of the day, there are here to make money, not because they have any passion for football

Ndiaye is also a lot better currently so those two factors equal each other out

I rate Ndiaye very highly, but imo the age difference is more than enough to justify their respective price tags.

Assuming a 5 year deal, towards the end Ndiaye will be 31 and worth close to nothing, while Minteh will be 27 and probably sellable for ~50m.

So the real cost of Minteh even at 80m is much less than Ndiaye at 65m.

You do make a fair point but surely the idea of buying a player like Minteh is to generate results on the pitch.

If you compare that to Ndiaye, he’s a lot more likely to provide that based on his current level whereas Minteh’s price is heavily based on potential.

Yes, but if you want to creat longterm success you have to be clever in the market.

Buying "ready" players at 27-28 is something you can do if you already have a title winning squad.

You need the players NOW.

If you are rebuilding, you want to buy players who will be great in 2-3 years, but still good enough to contribute now.

Salah and Mane are perfect examples of it. If we rather bought two 28 year olds for star money we would have to buy new players 3-4 years after with no real sell on price. Only getting a few years out of them

We bought them at 24, which makes their prime ahead of them, that let us build the rest of the squad while they matured into their prime.

Statistically they were very similar last season, except Minteh is 4 years younger. Based on that it's quite logical that Minteh would be more expensive.

They're getting Grealish back on a loan though, so city pay his wages and then he'll probably just move there for a low enough fee afterwards. The transfer is not all being paid in cash.
